In Gears of War 2 news, the people of Epic seem to really understand their audience. Epic loves us for exactly what we are, a bunch of achievement whores. Now while some people may be above spending time going through games solely to raise their gamer score, most of us are not. Epic has created a whole new type of achievement system, called "linked" achievements. Linked Achievements occur when someone obtains an achievement in the first game(Gears of War), this then unlocks new content in the second game(Gears of War 2). New RE:D Trailer So this was one of the coolest things I got to see while at Comic-Con this year. It is quite a bit more of the new Resident Evil movie that they are doing. Unfortunately, it is a "Pirated" video that someone took. I was actually sitting not to far from the camera guy here. I've tried listening for my WOOO when Leon first comes on screen, but I get blended in. Yo Yo guys.   Some of you may of heard of a place called Omega Sektor which is a LAN game center in Birmingham. On the 9th of August they are having a birthday bash. Guilty Gear has always been one of my favorite series of fighter games because it greatly impairs our oh-so-beloved button mashers from pwning ass. Take Soul Calibur II for instance: when playing as Rafael, by repeatedly pushing one button, Rafael will rapidly flail his sabre, often leaving the other player no chance to retaliate. The control structure in Guilty Gear is so brilliant because rapidly pushing the punch or kick button won't get you very far: special combos are based mainly on the combination of buttons and quarter or half turns with the joystick or directional pad. Resident Evil 5 Just announced at the Microsoft Conference at E3. Resident Evil 5 will be released on the 13th of March next year (2009). After 22 fantastic years of the Castlevania series, Konami announced that the latest installment of this series will be out in early 2009. This new installment will take full advantage fo the Wii controls, you will be able to employ numerous amounts of attacks on your enemies. I would imagine the controls would be similar to Zelda, where you use both the Nunchuck and the Wiimote. Where other Castlevania installments have fallen short, this title is going to break the boundries and let the player interact with the surroundings, which of course, will be used to destroy the minions of Dracula. So after being able to toss and destroy you enemies with weapons, you will also be able to use the monsters in the game and set traps for them ;) Not only will this game be insanely fun, it will also have a multiplayer option where you are able to battle 1v1 with your friends. Sony Combines Zombies And... Google Earth So here's a fun sounding idea. You take zombies and cities. You plot them out on a map. Then you use Google Earth to save all the people who were not ready for Z-Day. Brilliance! And it is call The Last Guy. Sounds a bit like playing Infected only using the top down map view, but still, it is a great idea. Could really help you finalize your zombie plan in your own town. It's official. Activision has received shareholder approval for the merger with Vivendi, with over 92% approving the transaction. This merger has taken about 8 months since it's first rumors to be finalized. Blizzard and Sierra, who are owned by Vivendi, will now be apart of Activision. As a result of the merger, the company will be getting a new name, Activision Blizzard. Vivendi will be receiving roughly 259.3 million newly issued shares of Activision stock, going at $27.
