Let's be honest, while it may be a little early to be talking sequel, all of us that played Left 4 Dead could bet the house that a second incarnation was certain. On November 17th, just 364 days after the first, Valve will release Left 4 Dead 2 for the Xbox 360 and PC. Left 4 Dead 2 takes place during the same zombie outbreak as the first game, but features a new pair of 4 survivors, Rochelle, Coach, Ellis, and Nick. While it wasn't quite clear what the new campaigns were apart from the fact that it will take place in the South US (the game starts in Savannah and ends in New Orleans), Scott Dalton, a level designer on the game, said that more of the story will be explored, including the reason for the outbreak. I finally got my hands on Muramasa: The Demon Blade for the Nintendo Wii. It was developed by Vanilla Ware, the studio that did Odin Sphere on the PS2, and localized by Ignition Software. The game is beautifully animated and the amount of detail really shines, which showcases the amount of work that went into it. Presented in a 2D side scrolling format, the backgrounds and characters pop out at you. Well so did Bizarre Creations and that's why they created Blur.I got a closed door meeting with Bizarre Creations' newest racing title, Blur. Incorporating real cars and locations with arcade power ups, Blur does just that, blurs the line between Project Gotham Racing's realistic physics with Mario Kart's arcade style powerups, Blur is an all new kind of racer. I got to play two tracks, a simple oval style racetrack laden with powerups and wide roadways, and a more urban track (Hackney area of England) with twisty turns and narrow avenues.Several car manufacturers, including Ford, GM, Renault, BMW, and Koeniggsegg (sp) all made appearances and we got assurance from Bizarre Creations's that there would be many more cars added. DC Universe Online Hands On We've seen the screen shots. We've seen the video clips. But at E3, there was the chance to actually get some hands on with the game and take it for a pre-beta joy ride. I also got to sit down with one of the designers for the game to get a little more on the game that has yet to be released through their MySpace account or any official press releases. I will say that I wish I could have played around with the character creation tool a bit, but they did have some of the network play up and going. Druids, are you tired of looking the same as all the other Druids? Would you want to change colors in your bear and cat form? Do you want to dance in bear form in style? Well now you can, as Blizzard has announced new looks for the Druids! In the next major patch for World of Warcraft, druids will be able to find color schemes for the bear and cat forms. Blizzard made the following announcement on their Under Development page: “There will be five different designs for each of these forms for the Horde and Alliance. Night elves can choose to change their cat and bear look at any time by visiting the barber shop and changing their character's hair color, while tauren will be able to change which look they use by switching skin tones in the barber shop -- a new feature for tauren in the next major content patch. In 2006 Marvel and Activision teamed up to create Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. Built on the X-men Legends engine, Ultimate Alliance featured the largest collection of comic book characters ever seen in a video game. Combining the standard roster with downloadable content, Ultimate Alliance featured nearly 40 playable characters. The game was a success and this coming fall we'll get to see the sequel Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Fusion. When you look back at the 1990’s and you see the more popular fighting games to come out of that decade, your mind will invariably jump to Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter above anything else. From those two series came so many clones that really didn’t offer anything new to the genre. It’s ironic though that most of these clones are probably better known than anything from the Samurai Shodown series which is a shame since Samurai Shodown did so much to add to the fighting genre back in the day. Thankfully SNK Playmore have put together a collection of Samurai Shodown games that is a must have for anyone who is a fan of the series.
