Blizzcon 2009 Day 1

Never have I been in a place where I have seen so many nerds, geeks, and dorks in one area. Oh wait, yeah I have, as E3 and Comic-con were the other places. Just in case you didn't notice, Blizzard held their now annual event, Blizzcon, at the Anaheim Convention Center on August 21st and 22nd. Thousands of nerds, geeks, and dorks all gathered to see, play, and talk about Blizzard's 3 main franchises; Starcraft, Waracraft and Diablo. Friday morning, as I arrived to the convention center the first thing you would see are the nerds, geeks, and dorks waiting in line. Bright Shadow Coming To The U.S. While Blizzcon has come and gone and only a few announcements for the worlds largest MMO were made, that doesn't mean that other companies weren't working on making a few big splashes. Goozex Enhances Service With Movie Trading

Videogame trading website, Goozex.com, launched their brand new movie trading service last Monday, August 17th. The decision to add this service onto the Goozex experience has pleased many of the sites members, and has seen quick success in only a week's time. Members can easily trade DVDs, Blu-Ray, UMDs and even the deceased HD-DVDs, proving that the Goozex Team truly understands its audience. Goozex movie trading uses the same formula as the videogame trading. Toys, pack-ins, gimmicks, add-ons and peripherals are all words that are not unknown or unheard of to Nintendo Wii owners’ ears. Since the console’s launch in 2006, a great many guns zappers, dance pads, microphones, etc., have been bundled with Wii games filling living rooms to capacity -- especially with the onset of rhythm games. Even Nintendo’s best-selling game, WiiPlay is merely a controller with a $10 tech demo, and there has always been a premium attached to the bundles that have exceeded the normal price point for a Wii game at $49.99. Crysis 2 Teasers Ok, well it isn't really for sale. At least not in the real world. But from watching the below video clips you could think otherwise. Well kind of. Well maybe if you were a little bit special, and not the kind that mom use to say you were. But I digress. Crytek and EA are starting with the viral-ish type promotions a bit early here. They utilize a well-worn concept used back when the first Resident Evil film was starting to be pimped out. Guild Wars 2 Trailer Who wants to see what Guild Wars 2 is going to look like? I know I do. With this new video I thought I was going to be let down a bit. In fact about half way through I started to wonder if there was going to be anything more than just "still frames" (Animatics) with a narration of the goings on in the game world. Torchlight Picking Up Momentum Heading into PAX

With all the news flying out of Gamescon, you are no doubt thinking about PAX just 2 weeks away. For those of you lucky enough to attend, PAX will offer many unique experiences and plenty of time to go hands-on some fall releases. If you are going to be in attendance, I encourage you to visit the Torchlight booth (#872) and tryout one of the sleeper hits of E3 last June. Torchlight is a dungeon-crawling Action RPG from Runic Games, who just celebrated their first anniversary. With all of the news flooding out of the Sony camp a lot of people have been curious to see if the Home service is going to receive any measure of attention. Well, they have heard your cries and have offered up a wealth of information courtesy of the official blog. The list of features are as follows: Universal Game Launching: "You can now launch into any PlayStation 3 game directly from Home. Titles that fully support game launching (like Street Fighter 4 and Far Cry 2) will be identified by separate icons that appear over an avatar's head and will have varying degrees of additional multiplayer functionality built in. Sack it to Me – the "Big Announcements" Edition You ever hop into the level creator for LittleBigPlanet and feel like there was something missing. Something that stopped you from being able to faithfully recreate the entire game of Super Mario Bros. using their sandbox. Something you couldn't quite place your finger on. After a viral marketing scheme by LionsHead Studios, we finally see what all the hub-bub was about. If you haven't been watching, the LionsHead website has been showing leaders of our time (Abraham Lincoln for example) and quotes underneath each one followed by a number. The numbers were counting down each day until today. Today also happens to be the opening day for GamesCom 2009. I Got A Great Big Bow Here

Hades Boss Fight Round 2 So on Monday we were able to give you a nice view of what the Lord of the Dead would be looking like. We've seen him only in a few minor shots in the God of War FMVs before that. But now we get one further peek at how this epic boss/boss fight will look and feel. All of this through some more screen shots from the game and what is being shown at GamesCom. I know it is all Hades vs. Kratos in those shots there, but it still looks amazingly stunning.
