WCG Ultimate Gamer 2: Episode 4 - Peeling Out
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 13th of September 2010 - 03:48 PM ]
Here we go fresh from the messed up actions from episode 3 and the contestants. Does the lack of humor and fun with in the house continue? Has the show kept that momentum it has been building going, or is it falling flat? Or more driving its self into the wall of "Should We Care Anymore?" Here are my thoughts and recap to help you figure that out for yourself. "Disclaimer" I will make it no secret that I tried out for this season and was not selected due to XBox Live issues during game analysis. I was only able to connect for one of the sessions, and thus disqualified. Read More...

Get Enslaved By These New Screens And DLC Announcements
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 10th of September 2010 - 09:51 PM ]
As I said back at Gamescom, my interest was just starting to come around for Enslaved: Odyssey To The West after seeing the actual game footage there. It was something truly attention catching and these new screen and clips nail your eyes lids to the game while a 300 lbs. midget sits on the back of your head keeping your eyes focused on nothing but. (Read: I think it looks super keen.) While below you may only start out seeing screen shots of how the game will visually look, which is not too shabby, the video shows a bit of how the combat system will flow and how the game will play out. Portal 2 Co-Op Trailer Gets Extended
by Binh Nguyen [ Friday, 10th of September 2010 - 05:33 PM ]
I am sure we have seen the multitude of videos and screen shots of Portal 2 in the last few weeks. Yesterday Valve released the extended trailer for the co-op mode of Portal 2. Something that was shown at PAX Prime this past week at Seattle. It is worth a watch as it showcases that teamwork that is the only way to get pass certain levels. I'm not sure if they will include the high-five feature but it would be funny if you were able to self high-five yourself. My Take: I seriously cannot wait for Portal 2 to come out as I am a huge fan of the first one. Read More...

Corey joins up with Brian and Binh again for another exciting and yet "classy" episode of the Aggrocast. The crew talks about what they have been playing - including Mafia II, Mushroom Wars, Persona 4 and going back old school with Dungeon Siege 2. This week the crew delves into the XBox Live price increase as well as the price drop of the Nintendo DSi. Then, Corey decides to play devil's advocate for Apple's newly announced GameCenter. Hilarity ensues when all three gentlemen dance around the PC/Mac debate once again. Read More...

WCG Ultimate Gamer 2: Episode 3 - Clowning Around Ay?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 7th of September 2010 - 10:24 PM ]
We are now three episodes in and three contestants down. That also means it is time for AggroGamer's third recap/review of how Ultimate Gamer Season 2 is going. I feel obligated to keep you all informed in case you had something else going on. Let's stop gilding the lily and jump right in. "Disclaimer" I will make it no secret that I tried out for this season and was not selected due to XBox Live issues during game analysis. I was only able to connect for one of the sessions, and thus disqualified. Knowing that, please read these recaps as a reviewer's aspect and not a bitter gamer. Read More...

Time To Go Back To The Future
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 3rd of September 2010 - 03:42 PM ]
I think Telltale Games took the DeLorean the wrong way through the time stream. Instead of going back and making a huge game based off the franchise back in the late 80's and early 90's, they went forward and decided to make a game 20 years after the last film hit theaters. That is, if it somehow came out before the end of the year. That just seems like the wrong way to do things. What they did do right though is snagged one of the guys who wrote the scripts from the classic films and also grabbed the great Christopher Lloyd to actually voice Doc Brown. Read More...

Unleash The Rock Warrior Within With Guitar Hero
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 2nd of September 2010 - 08:38 PM ]
We all know by now that each of the characters in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock have an alter ego. If you don't, consider yourself informed now or ask yourself why you clicked into this article. For those of you that have a clue, we have a new look at ALL of the characters in the new game. How they all look, from concept to in game, what all of their abilities are and a nice in game look of what it is like when they will transform to help the Demigod of Rock. This is my first time seeing Austin, Casey and Judy here in all the transforming glory and I will say I am anxious to get my hands on Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. I actually think that these three have to be my favorites in look, outside of Echo. Read More...

Review: Worms Reloaded
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 31st of August 2010 - 10:52 PM ]
Team17's breaking away from the retail publishing biz and now focusing more on digital publishing. Now we may see more Worms games popping up on the digital market soon. Judging from their long line of Alien Breed and Worms titles, it seems like a smart move on their part; but we're not here to discuss Team 17's business model restructure, we're here to talk about Worms Reloaded. Overview For those that have never played Worms before, it is a 2D turn-based strategy game where you take your team of worms and shoot, sheep and blow up the opposing team in spectacular fashion. Worms can be played in single player campaign mode or multiplayer mode with up to four players. Read More...

Microsoft Did What?! XBL Price Increased?
by Binh Nguyen [ Monday, 30th of August 2010 - 08:46 PM ]
The on-line world is in a blaze right now as announced by Major Nelson that Microsoft will be raising the cost of XBox Live Gold membership starting November 1, 2010 in the US, Canada, Mexico and the UK. The new prices for Xbox Live will be this: Well I know for a fact that Michael is probably not happy with the price changes at all, and probably a good majority of its users. But we all know that we gamers love to complain but are willing to shell out the cash to play the games or services. It's an endless cycle. Read More...

WCG Ultimate Gamer 2: Episode 2 - Balls In
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 30th of August 2010 - 06:32 PM ]
With a very unimpressive first episode, you may be wondering why am I even continuing with reporting on the proceedings. Well, plain and simple for two reasons: first, in hopes that it will get better and second, in hopes that I can save others' time with a recap if it isn't all that good. Ten minutes of reading seems better than an hour of watching an ad bombardment. So let's get right into it. "Disclaimer" I will make it no secret that I tried out for this season and was not selected due to XBox Live issues during game analysis. Read More...

Review: StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 27th of August 2010 - 04:15 PM ]
Starcraft II has been out for almost a month now and Binh and I finally had an opportunity to sit down and really get into the game. All we can tell you is that if you haven't had a chance to pick up the title, you need to go out and do so right now. We should state that this review is going to be mainly about the campaign mode because the multiplayer is worthy of a whole review in itself. (I am locking myself in a closet and playing multiplayer until my eyes bleed Zerg Blood.) Let Binh and I break it down for you. Read More...

Let's Look At Jigsaw's Drawing Board
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 25th of August 2010 - 05:51 PM ]
Where does he get all those wonderful toys? Oh wait wrong franchise for that quote. But it still kind of fits for Jigsaw in the Saw film and video game franchises. Doesn't it? For those of you that don't know where he gets them let me spoil it for you. He makes them himself, unlike Batman. Just like any good builder, be it creative death traps or video game level design, it all has to start somewhere. That somewhere usually blueprints or conceptual art for the ultimate thing to slay audiences minds. Konami is giving us all a look at the genius behind some of these traps, levels and characters in the upcoming Saw II: Flesh and Blood video game. Read More...

Something Positive and Refreshing in Gaming
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 25th of August 2010 - 12:52 PM ]
As they are few and far between, here comes another quasi-positive thing from video gamers that needs to be mentioned. With the video game bill trying to stamp out first amendment rights for games, we all need to look and see what these games can do: like bring groups of young adults together for community service. No, I am not talking community service that is imposed by the penal system. I am talking the kind that is voluntary to show that people still have some kind of kind heart left. Read More...

Gamescom 2010 Video Swarm [Part 2]
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 23rd of August 2010 - 08:55 PM ]
I hope you were not overwhelmed by the last batch of videos we brought to you from Gamescom 2010. There were a whole lot of new videos pumped out into cyberspace as we said before. Therefore, we would bring out even more of those videos posted throughout the convention's entire run. Just so you know what you are in store for, let me give you a quick over view: we have trailers for Sorcery, Patapon 3, Costume Quest, DC Universe and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. There is also some cool game play from Crysis 2 showing off the multiplayer aspect of the game. Not to mention, we have the two huge announcements from Insomniac Games: Resistance 3 and Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One - all great watches for you. Read More...
