Aggro Attractions: Games Coming Soon
by Kevin [ Tuesday, 15th of December 2009 - 04:10 PM ]
A lot of people were disappointed by the recent Video Game Awards held on Spike TV, and in most cases the disappointment is very much deserved. Although the award ceremony was filled with professionals and had some fantastic exclusives to premier, it still comes off as very much forced and not at all exciting. Fortunately, for the gaming audience there were some great trailers shown. As Binh said in a great article that covered the results of the show, the true stars were the trailers. Read More...

Project Natal Details Leaked?
by Ben Brody [ Sunday, 15th of November 2009 - 08:30 PM ]
So some news about Natal is making the rumor rounds. According to a member of a “secret tour of a Microsoft lab”, the controller-free movement only control system will come out November of 2010, which Microsoft had previously hinted at and then claimed bollocks. Microsoft hopes to have 5 million units available for purchase worldwide at the time of launch, some being sold with a 360, and some being sold on their own. The price would range anywhere from £30 to £50 (what the price would be in USD is anybody's guess at this point) and would have a fairly robust 14 launch games. We know that Criterion/EA had modified the popular Burnout Paradise to work with Natal, so maybe the 14 includes patches for some games. Read More...

Aion - A Casual MMO Player's Impressions
by Michael Camacho [ Tuesday, 3rd of November 2009 - 08:38 PM ]
Disclaimer: This is not an official review of Aion, but will be from the perspective of a casual MMO player, and serves more as an impressions of my first month with the game. As of writing this, I have reached level 16 with Asmodyian Assassin and around level 10 with each of my 3 other characters. Aion is the latest MMORPG from Korean developer NCSoft, and was quick to break pre-order records amongst MMO tiles with over 400,000 pre-ordered. Aion utilizes the Crytek engine and produces beautiful results. Aion takes place in the world of Atreia, and you choose one of two opposing races of humans. Read More...

When Aliens & Predators Fight, It Sucks To Be Human
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 16th of October 2009 - 08:52 PM ]
Being a lowly space marine seems like the worst thing to be in Aliens Vs. Predator. Just by watching the trailer down below, you get a great sense that most people will only play the Human portion if they are in for a challenge or an Achievement/Trophy whore. I mean come on, the human they show through out the clip is scared poopless the entire clip. To the point where it begs the question right? Then again, I'd be the same way if I was a lowly space marine going up against a retardababy, advanced race of space hunters or even a ridiculously agile and stealthy race of creatures that bleed acid. Alpha Protocol Delayed... Again
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 29th of September 2009 - 09:46 PM ]
Bioshock 2, Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell Conviction, God of War III, Gran Turismo 5, Final Fantasy XIII, a pretty good list huh, a developer would be ecstatic to have their game listed among those games. So that's exactly what Sega did with their Action-Stealth RPG Alpha Protocol. The developer recently pushed the game back into 2010, which puts in on a list with all the aforementioned games. With all the delays this year we wonder if even Assassin's Creed 2 will make the list. While it's not known why Sega pushed the game back, we can consider that it may be something big because it is being slated with a nine month delay. Read More...

Nier is Hopefully Not Too Far
by Kevin [ Friday, 25th of September 2009 - 03:21 PM ]
Nier,or Nier Gestalt as it goes by these days, is one of those titles that I really feel could go either way. It could be a really compelling experience with a narrative that draws you in with some really deep action elements, or it could be a largely forgettable title with little to allow it to stand out among other similar entries in the genre. The design of the game is decidedly Square Enix and if we have learned anything from their protagonists, there will be a rich melencholy right below the surface of the gruff devil may care attitude. Will the style of the game be enough? Read More...

A possible leaked trailer for Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings was released last night. Yes i know it says Alpha version, and everything says Internal Use only, but this looks like something directed towards the gamer audience. A "hey look at this trailer and get excited" type deal. It's About Time To Get Wet
by Kevin [ Wednesday, 26th of August 2009 - 10:36 PM ]
One of the more curious titles of the year has presented a demo for PS3 owners and Xbox owners. For the uninitiated, Wet is an action game that combines shooting and swordplay with all kinds of crazy acrobatics. The main character, Rubi voiced by Elisha Dushku, carries twin pistols and a sword and does all of the fun filled John Woo-esque moves that have become standard fare in most action titles these days. One of the better elements of the gunplay is that she automatically target an additional enemy which allows some ease and versatility with your firefight strategy. She also has the ability to fuse attacks together, and your acrobatics aren't limited to flipping off of a wall, but you can substitute a person instead of the aformentioned wall. Read More...

Co-Op Hack and Slash Gets a Penalty
by Kevin [ Tuesday, 25th of August 2009 - 07:22 PM ]
DataBox Games: Nine guys in their mid-20s on an island off Sweden. They are all attending Gotland University and working on their final thesis for their Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. Why is this important? Because much like the current wave of independent titles that flood the Xbox Marketplace - they are just a bunch of people with a love for games trying to deliver a unique experience. They don't have a major machine behind them, but they have a passion for crafting something that we can all get into and as such are definitely worth promoting around these parts. The game that they are currently working on is Penalty of Heroes, which I believe is their 26th title; most of the previous 25 have been made in ten weeks or less and have more fun crammed into them then a great majority of bigger budget titles. So the PS3 Slim turned out to be announced today, as earlier rumored. Along with the news comes an immediate $100 price drop on both existing systems, with the 80gb dropping to $299.99 and the 160gb dropping to $399.99.
