SEGA Embraces DRM For Alpha Protocol
by Brian Goodman [ Wednesday, 14th of April 2010 - 05:37 PM ]
SEGA, according to Eurogamer, has reported its intent to make use of the Uniloc DRM for its PC release of Alpha Protocol, despite past issues regarding the software. SEGA will be joining the growing group of publishers who have begun using intrusive authentication software in the name of protecting their PC releases. Since the inception of PC gaming publishers have been trying to find effective ways to balance protection against theft and unobtrusive gameplay experiences. How many people remember the funny picture wheel with older Lucas Arts games, or the frequently used “what’s the 4th word on the 9th line of page 36 of the manual” chestnut? Read More...

by Binh Nguyen [ Sunday, 28th of March 2010 - 04:49 PM ]
Mafia originally came out on PC in 2002, then later on the orginial XBox, and then PlayStation 2 in 2004. Several years later 2K is releasing the second installment of the Mafia series with Mafia 2. Here at PAX East, we got the opportunity to sit down and play a demo of the game. Here is what I have to say about it. New Engine: 2K Czech has created the brand new Illusion engine for Mafia 2. I spoke to Dan, one of the lead Developers for Mafia 2, he told me that because of how the original Mafia was and how much the dev team wanted to in the first one but couldn't. Read More...

Now that the excitement and anticipation of Mass Effect 2 is over, it is time to make way for another action adventure type of RPG. This time without alien boobs or harvesting minerals from planets. Monsters, Controllers & Previews, Oh My!
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 12th of February 2010 - 05:44 PM ]
Skepticism reigned as I sat down to play Monster Hunter Tri, but it began to dispel as I took the new Wii Classic Controller Pro in my hands and looked across the table at Binh, who was joining me for some co-operative hunting on another Wii. Capcom is breaking ground bringing the immensely popular Monster Hunter series to the Nintendo Wii along with this brand new controller. Though the franchise is huge in Japan, but not nearly as well known here in Europe and North America, Capcom looks to indoctrinate a new audience. If what I played at CES is any indicator, they are off to a good start. Read More...

by Kevin [ Sunday, 7th of February 2010 - 09:25 PM ]
Well, seeing as how today is such a special day for football fans, it seems only right to present a deal for the current king of console gridiron - the John Madden NFL series.  Personally, I'm a 2k man, but since that series has gone the way of the dodo, I present a special deal to entice the Madden community. Both Amazon and Wal-Mart are having deals concerning the newest iteration of the title.Amazon proudly proclaims, "Get a $20 Video Games Credit: Pre-order Madden NFL 11, forWii, PS2, or Xbox 360, and get $20 off a future video game purchase. The Heritage Of Aliens Vs. Predator
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 23rd of January 2010 - 12:12 AM ]
Now this is what I was hoping for when Sega let loose the Kill Video for Aliens Vs. Predator. At least as it goes for graphics and action. Although it could just be that they are comparing the new game to the original that came out about ten years ago. But in either instance, here is a much better look at Aliens Vs. Predator. Also, unlike the last AvP video, this one isn't just a quick montage of images and scenes. Read More...

Aliens and Predators Show Off Their Killing Moves
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 19th of January 2010 - 05:19 PM ]
As is to be expected, there are a myriad of ways to kill each other in Sega and Rebellion's upcoming Aliens Vs. Predator. How many, well that number has yet to be counted, but from the below video you can get a small idea. Small, just for the fact that it is a quick minute montage of killing scenes from the game. From all creatures point of view. Yes humans are included in the "creatures" of the game. Read More...

Tekken: The Movie... The Trailer.. From Last Year?
by Kevin [ Monday, 18th of January 2010 - 06:14 PM ]
Surprisingly, there are many out there who are not aware of the Tekken live action film. Not surprisingly, I would consider those people fairly lucky. What's really interesting is that the movie supposedly dropped in the US, LAST NOVEMBER. Does anyone remember this? Essentially, the story was as such: "In the year of 2039, after World Wars destroy much of civilization as we know it, territories are no longer run by governments, but by corporations; the mightiest of which is the Mishima Zaibatsu. In order to keep the masses down, Mishima sponsors the King of Iron Fist Tournament, or Tekken, in which fighters battle until one is left standing, who in turn will receive a lifetime of stardom and wealth. We are introduced to this violent world through the eyes of Jin Kazama, a teenage street fighter who enters the tournament in order to avenge the death of his mother that he blames upon the Mishima Zaibatsu's most powerful and controlling chairman – Heihachi Mishima. CES 2010: nVidia Press Conference
by Binh Nguyen [ Saturday, 9th of January 2010 - 05:02 AM ]
As CES 2010 is now under way, so are the many news and notes that are coming out of the convention. The first event that Brian and I went to was the nVidia Press Conference. As we went to sit down we were given 3D glasses for a part of the conference. As the wait finally ended and the music started to kick into high gear, so did the montage that nVidia put together. The montage began with video games and movies but wasn't in 3D yet. After the montage was over, the President of nVidia, Jen-Hsun Huang came out and talked about not only the evolution of desktop PC (personal computers) but also the evolution of portable PC in general. The first titled, "The Taxidermist,” will be made available for free for those who pre-ordered when the game drops. by Kevin [ Thursday, 17th of December 2009 - 03:27 PM ]
Well, the beta test application site for Final Fantasy XIV has opened up, and while the beta may only be for the PC, it is a great chance for those interested to poke around in what could be a fantastic MMO experience. For the curious, the requirements are: Be at least 18 years of age Possess a Square Enix ID account (Register for a Square Enix ID account here, if you don't have one already) Possess an internet connection Be capable of downloading large amounts of data Be capable of submitting bug reports in either Japanese, English, French, or German Like any other beta test, there will be several waves and opportunities to enter the beta so don't be discouraged if you don't make it in initially. For those looking for the PS3 experience, it seems that will be revealed "at a later date." Despite that, 2010 is going to be the year for this game's release, and I, for one, am excited.
