Tropico 4 Announced

On Friday, it was announced that Haemimont Games plans to build on their success in the strategy game genre with Tropico 4. This announcement is not a complete shock as its predecessor was well received by both critics and consumers alike. The series hits a fairly specific audience as you tackle being "El Presidente," a ruler of a small tropical island. Armed with the hopes of being a powerhouse nation, you decide how you will make this happen - whether that is politically, diplomatically, economically or militarily. Putting The PS4 Rumors To Rest

So it has been an interesting past couple of days with the two video “leaked” from the YouTube channel “SCELabs.” They had people wondering in regards to if Sony is actually going to be announcing PlayStation 4 or if it was something for th 3D gaming patch. Well, it isn't for the PS4. Shocker huh? Al de Leon, Sony hardware PR representative said, “I can confirm that this video is not from SCE (Sony Computer Entertainment).” My Take: Well at least we know that the videos are a complete fake and we do not have to wonder any more. [Rumor] PlayStation 4? Is This For Real?

Yesterday I reported about a video that was “leaked” in regards if Sony is going to be announcing a new console or working on 3D gaming with the current PlayStation 3. Today we have the second “leaked” video for your viewing pleasure. In this video you will see a man sitting in his chair staring at the screen while two Japanese lab workers asking if he was ready. After he puts on headphones and a pair of what appears to be cheap 3D glasses, they turn on a machine and the fun begins. Yeah, you read that title right. The video you are about to watch is spreading around like wildfire. Or not. In the video you will see the camera man running through the halls via Blair Witch/Cloverfield style as he is in a hurried to get something on camera. The camera man and two others enter a room where a man is laying on the floor like he was sprayed with laughing gas from the Joker. Mechwarrior 4: Finally Released For Free As Promised

Well there's not much else to report here except go here to get your hands on one of the best PC-exclusive action titles ever released. Nothing streamlined or dumbed down for the console, just pure 30 button action at its best. There have been some reports of server issues, but they seem to have been resolved. I personally think this is an awesome move that will have a short term loss, long term gain for Microsoft (who has finally released one of my favorite IP's), as well as Smith and Tinker - a new developer who has taken the reins for Mechwarrior 5. There are no profits to be found by doing this, but what they will get is the love and respect of the huge Mechwarrior fanbase. Read More...

Review: Super Street Fighter IV

Super Street Fighter IV is definitely a great value at $40, especially for people who didn't pick up the original. Aside from everything originally included with IV, Super also includes a handful of new characters, new stages, new music and updated online play. This includes some new modes and features that fans have been wanting for over a year now. A new roster update comprises of a nice selection of characters from various series in the Street Fighter universe, as well as two new ones exclusive to Super. Juri is a welcome addition with a quickness that many other characters are lacking, and Hakan is a grappler covered in oil that brings more depth to his style of character. Read More...

Brian G Asks: WTF is up with DLC?

It's an exciting time to be a gamer because there is definitely a lot of pivotal stuff going on in our industry right now. Today I want to go on about a reasonably new development of an old concept. Expansion packs have been around since the mid 90's in the PC world. Back when the PC dinosaurs ruled the video game landscape (and just about any game could be played on any computer without a video card that costs more than a PS3), if there was a successful game, a half a year or so later we would see an expansion pack. People who enjoyed a game could purchase more content for around $20 to $30-ish. Hands On 'The Passing' Released For L4D2

So Valve announced the first DLC package for L4D2 a while ago and it is finally here to bring us more zombie killin' goodness. The "carrot" that they have been enticing us with is a major "change" to the cast of the L4D universe, and true to word there is one less survivor running around taking all the pills and startling the witch. *Note* I will try to keep this write up spoiler free for those of you who have not had a chance to run through it. I fired up Steam where the content is free (560 points if you play on the New Jersey of online gaming XBL) and loaded up the single player campaign mode to blow through as fast as I could. Infinity Ward Keeps Melting Down

You can not follow game industry news and not have noticed the countless reports of the drama currently going on between publishing giant Activision and successful Call Of Duty developer Infinity Ward. Even legitimate news sources have covered the huge lawsuit frenzy that has been going on. Today, industry analysts have suggested that as many as 20 more Infinity Ward Employees are projected to no longer be employed by the company in a month's time (source Gamespot). Even though strong sales of the Modern Warfare 2 map pack DLC suggest a short term financial positive for Activision, the stock has continued to go down. Macs R Dead

I think everyone saw this coming at some point. When you have a game series with such wide appeal as the Left 4 Dead series, the need to push it out to other platforms becomes fairly obvious. Though I suspect that at some point we will see this game make its way to handhelds in some form or another, this announcement deals with Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 shuffling its zombie feet to the Mac OSX through the glory of Steam for the Mac. For those who are curious, the L4D Team discuss what exactly this means for you: "Steam on the Mac will behave just like Steam for Windows, but through Steam Play will add cross-platform ownership. It Only Took 16 Years For Sonic 4: Episode 1

As the below video montage/teaser for the new Sonic The Hedgehog game show, the new Sonic 4 that was just announced only took the people of Sega since 1994 to pump out the new game. Not all that long right? I mean they did have all those spin offs and uses of Sonic in between the last sonic game and this downloadable Sonic game that is coming this summer.
