PAX East Hands On: Swimsanity
by Kenton Winkfield [ Thursday, 28th of March 2013 - 06:13 PM ]
One of the last titles I got to see at PAX East was an incredible amount fun and I'm not just saying that because I got to beat my friends down in it. Swimsanity was one of my favorite titles that I got to play at PAX East. The best part is it's not even finished yet. I got to speak with the whole team of Decoy Games, a new indie developer company that is responsible for the amazing Swimsanity and they confirmed that there will be many more features and maps besides what's been showcased at PAX East. Decoy Games is an independent gaming company started by two brothers, Ahmed and Khalil Abdullah. After exploring their passion for gaming, and finding they had an ability to create games, they began to build what they call team Decoy. Read More...

PAX East Interview: WildStar
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 27th of March 2013 - 08:59 PM ]
Last week I had the pleasure of snagging WildStar's Senior 3D Artist, Stephan Williams, for an interview and demo of Carbine Studio's and NC Soft's upcoming MMORPG. Although he was not able to answer every question we sure hounded him for a solid twenty minutes or so. I was joined with two special guests, TJ Jensen and Erik Gmitter. Together we were blown away by the amazing graphics, animations, and features that they had to show off in the PAX East demo. The story behind WildStar is thus; the home world of the long lost Eldan civilization has just been rediscovered and everyone in the galaxy is racing to find out its secrets. Read More...

PAX East Hands On: Daylight
by Kenton Winkfield [ Wednesday, 27th of March 2013 - 04:19 PM ]
I’ve said it before; it's tough not to grab my attention when I get shown a video game. But it is tough to pull me away from one that already has my attention. Zombie Studios showcased their game Daylight at the Astro Headset Booth, which was close to Square Enix, my favorite developer/publisher, and right next to Wizards of the Coast, makers of my favorite TCG, Magic: The Gathering. This is an incredibly difficult location for a game to be showcased if it wants to keep my attention. Zombie Studios had no trouble reaching that feat. Read More...

PAX East Hands On: Outlast
by Kenton Winkfield [ Tuesday, 26th of March 2013 - 06:44 PM ]
PAX East was home to many Indie games this year. So many, that most of the games were located in a section called the Indie Mega Booth. Outlast was one of the games that had their setup in this area. Outlast comes from the brand new indie developers Red Barrels. The company is a 10 man team from Montreal, with each person having experience working with companies such as THQ, EA, and Ubisoft. The team joined up to create and deliver incredibly unforgettable single-player games. With Outlast being their first game, I can say they have already found themselves a comfortable spot in my memory bank. Read More...

Let's Get To Know Elizabeth From BioShock Infinite
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 21st of March 2013 - 05:57 PM ]
With just under a week from launch it looks like it would be a good time to showcase one of the main characters from BioShock Infinite wouldn't it? Of course it is. This is why Irrational Games has released the following "dev diary" all about Elizabeth and everything that went into making her walk, talk, and not being an annoying escort mission pain in the ass. If you are trying to be a purist and have as little info about BioShock Infinite before playing the game proper, you don't have anything to worry with the following video. Unless you really care about a small scene were Elizabeth tries to get Booker to dance with her and very basic level scenes. Read More...

Sim City's Downfall
by Greg Tatterfield [ Friday, 8th of March 2013 - 06:50 PM ]
EA released their new Sim City game this week to a huge fan outcry. Many gamers are dissatisfied with the always-online DRM and the poor servers. What makes matters worse is that EA is only allowing people who bought a physical copy of a game to request a refund. Unfortunately gamers who bought a digital copy of the game are out of luck. The outcry and the refund controversy have gotten so widespread that Amazon has removed Sim City from their online store. At the time of writing the game has 1,072 one star reviews on Amazon. Story Time With Remember Me
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 5th of March 2013 - 08:26 PM ]
Now that we know some of the game play mechanics and now the release date for Remember Me (June 4th), let's take a little look at the basic version of the game's story. I do mean basic from the below trailer for the game. Pretty much you take control of Nilin a memory hunter in Neo-Paris. The year is 2084 and it would seem that memory manipulation is the new rage in keeping humans down and in their place. Nilin finds out that she has been wiped of memories and wants to get them back. Oh, and there looks to be like some kind of zombies mixed in along her path to get them back from Mega Corp Memorize. Read More...

Assassin's Creed IV Accidentally Then Officially Announced
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 4th of March 2013 - 07:45 PM ]
It has been made official; Assassin's Creed IV is coming just about a year after AC3 has landed. It was originally rumored with the below trailer teasing it last week, but since the cat was let out of the bag it looks like Ubisoft isn't keeping it hidden any more. The video is now to be considered the official announcement of AC4 along with the release date of November 1st 2013. That adds another title to the PS4's launch lineup it would seem. Now for the interesting part, it looks like Ubisoft is breaking from the theme of traveling forward in history with each new AC title as we will be playing during the time of Blackbeard. Read More...

Aliens: Colonial Marines Quality Explained?
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 13th of February 2013 - 11:25 PM ]
An alleged employee of Gearbox Software by the username "ThrowAwayACM" has posted some very interesting stuff on Reddit in the past day. That stuff being information in regards to the poor quality of Aliens: Colonial Marines. "First off, due to me breaking NDA, I can't provide any proof that I'm not just talking out of my ass. But I figure you'd be interested in hearing what I have to say regardless. I've been on the project for around a year and a half, so some of the following are things I've heard from more senior guys. Review: Dead Space 3
by Irene Collazo [ Monday, 11th of February 2013 - 05:38 PM ]
Isaac Clarke is back for round three of limb dismembering, skull stomping, and vigorous shimmy shaking action against the Necromorphs we all love to hate. Oh, but he was dragged into it for the sake of mankind. Once again, Unitologists decide to cause an outbreak of Necromorphs because they’re simply crazy and suicidal. That’s just my opinion. Dead Space 3 is somewhat different from the first two games which threw me off for the first hour of game play. Read More...

Let's Look At The Game Play Of The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 7th of February 2013 - 11:12 PM ]
Now that we've all hopefully had time to wrap the story heavy version of the franchise, it's time we looked at the action FPS version with The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. The Activision/Terminal Reality game coming out here in a month's time. Not much has been said or shown until now, but it is well known to be a FPS and feature the story of two of the AMC TV Show only characters. I'm talking the Dixon brothers in case you haven't been up on the details since its initial announcement. If you look below we have what is called the "Game Play" trailer for the game. Read More...

Review: DmC: Devil May Cry
by Matt Waitt [ Saturday, 2nd of February 2013 - 05:06 PM ]
The reboot of Devil May Cry is not only the best in the series, but breathes new life into the franchise. I personally cannot wait for a DMC 2. I know a lot of you guys cried foul when you saw the new design for Dante, and it's understandable, but at the same time you guys should all calm your damn tits. I thought the old Dante looked too much like a pretty-boy anime character and I really couldn't relate to him all too much. When I saw the new one he reminded me a lot of an 80‘s style Punk rocker, which I like a lot. Read More...
