Did You Hear That There Will Be Multiplayer In Black Ops II?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 7th of August 2012 - 11:00 PM ]
Before I get trolled for the title, it is a joke based on the title of the new Black Ops II trailer released on the official YouTube channel. It's titled Multiplayer Reveal trailer. Like we all didn't know or even assume that there was going to be a multiplayer aspect to the biggest shooter franchise in gaming. Not much of a reveal. Now for the serious part. Read More...

The Phoenix Rises
by Jonathan Dean [ Monday, 6th of August 2012 - 04:49 PM ]
Hello one and all! My name is Jonathan Dean, and I’m thrilled to be one of the newest members of the writing team here at Aggrogamer.com. Let’s see, what is there to know about me? I've been playing games mostly since high school, and as the title suggests, my gamer tag for the Xbox 360 is PhoenixFusion1. I personally prefer games with heavy story and substance, probably due in fact to being a fiction writer and movie buff. I wasn't introduced to the gaming world until my junior high school years. The Disappearance Of Single Player
by Greg Tatterfield [ Wednesday, 1st of August 2012 - 09:49 PM ]
Remember the time when you placed a new game in your game console and you could expect an epic and memorable single player experience? I am among those gamers who remember having that full-blown experience with every new game that graced my console. As an old school gamer that owned all the major systems since the 90s I see a disturbing trend that could spell trouble for fans of single player games. The problem is that single player seems to be becoming extinct. It’s no secret that online multiplayer has became exceptionally popular among the current generation of gamers. Read More...

The Villain Of Black Ops II Is A YouTube Celebrity
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 20th of July 2012 - 05:32 PM ]
When first mentioned after announcement, the villain of Black Ops II was stated to be a "hacker" type who takes over a whole bunch of military tech. In the more recent video it looks like the people of the world are also a little bit to blame. Sitting happy and ingesting all of his propaganda as we do viral YouTube videos. I mean hells, with over 55 million people subbing this guy and over half a billion views, how could we all not be to blame? Right? Read More...

Review: Jeremy McGrath's Offroad
by Fred Buell [ Thursday, 19th of July 2012 - 10:10 PM ]
Jeremy McGrath's Offroad, developed by 2XL Games and published by Reverb (PS3) and D3publisher (360), plays like you would expect any offroad, rally or ATV game to play. It's smooth, it has some air control and it has competitive AI. That is where this game really ends with its current competition. Jeremy McGrath's Offroad has various unlocks as is expected in this day and age, like new vehicles and performance upgrades, however I couldn't find much reason to go after them. No motivation to keep playing despite this. Now don't get me wrong, the game is superbly crafted, no bugs at all as far as I could tell, beautiful graphics for an arcade title, the AI is smart and the controls top notch. Read More...

My Top 20 Favorite Video Game Tracks Of All Time
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 25th of June 2012 - 06:53 PM ]
Since we do a lot of standard news and reviews on Aggrogamer I think it's time we get a little personal. I am a huge fan of music. I love listening to it and I most certainly enjoy creating it. So here are my top 20 all time favorite themes from a video game. Enjoy. Note: the first 15 are in no specific order but the top 5 are in order of epicness. Spider-Man&Venom: Maximum Carnage - "Carnage Rules" An epic opening to one of the best Spider Man games of all time Serious Sam: The First Encounter - "Fight 5" When this song pops during an epic fire fight in Serious Sam, your adrenaline surges through your veins as you enter "The Zone" Mirror's Edge - "Kate (Puzzle)" I loved Mirror's Edge and this song was so soothing and relaxing. I still listen to it a lot. Read More...

E3 2012 Impressions: Call Of Duty: Black Ops II
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 18th of June 2012 - 05:01 PM ]
It is still no big surprise that Black Ops II was one of the bigger titles being shown at E3 this year. Even with all the gripes I hear about "another Call Of Duty game?" it still had lines snaking and wrapping the Activision booth. So that to me shows that both A), y'all like to bitch just to bitch and B) the fans obviously still want the franchise to continue on. Either way, here's a bit of what you all might have missed out on from the trailers. Before I go into some of the new stuff, it looks to play like *gasp* a CoD game. Read More...

E3 2012 Hands On: Borderlands 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 15th of June 2012 - 08:20 PM ]
Borderlands 2 has probably got to be one of the biggest sequels coming to market this year and yours truly here got a nice 30 minute hands on with the game. Not only that, but I got hands on with the Assassin class that has yet to be playable until E3. Well at least to the general public that is. So let me break down what I got to play and give you a bit of detail into a few things Borderlands 2. Before anyone asks, they didn't really go into detail on the character creation/progression in the game and I didn't have time to dig into the three trees of the Zer0. But as you can assume they all mostly revolved around things that would make you a better, sneaky killer. Read More...

E3 2012 Hands On: God Of War: Ascension - Multiplayer
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 13th of June 2012 - 08:51 PM ]
Well here is one of the big games I was looking forward to seeing at E3 this year, God Of War: Ascension. Not just because it is another title for one of my favorite franchises, but because this time around Sony Santa Monica is adding in something I never would have thought would be in a God Of War title. That is Multiplayer for those of you who skipped reading the title. I have included the video and screens of the single player game play that was available at E3, but let's be honest there really isn't much they can change to the game's winning single player. by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 6th of June 2012 - 12:53 AM ]
The Electronic Entertainment Expo has descended for 2012. Day Zero brings Press Conferences galore with Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft and Sony all taking their respective stages. Brian, Corey and Matt sat down directly after the Sony presser to talk over the days activities. Before getting into the meat of E3, Brian shines the Community Spotlight on Epic Games and the incredible outreach they did for the misplaced veterans of Big Huge Games. Then, it's time for the bread and butter of E3: press conferences. The guys discuss what they saw and break down what they loved, what they were disappointed by and what surprised them in the short 10-plus hours prior provided by the industry. Read More...

Mircrosoft E3 2012 Press Conference Recap
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 5th of June 2012 - 05:42 AM ]
If you missed the Microsoft E3 2012 Press Conference, then you didn't miss much. Here's a recap of the event. It started off huge and quickly went downhill. A game play demo of Halo 4, for some reason it reminded me of Metroid Prime. A game play demo of Splinter Cell: Blacklist, which features Kinect voice support. New trailer for the upcoming Gears Of War: Judgment in 2013. It is a prequel. Read More...

Aggrocast Episode Ninety Eight .1: Tangent on Games - More Like TangRant
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 4th of June 2012 - 10:21 PM ]
It is absolutely true that Episode 98 got out of hand. I split it into the meat of talk about E3 and then the rest is in here. It's almost pure rant. Listen to Corey going off on what he thinks the industry thinks makes a successful game (hint: don't assume you'll understand him right away, Matt and I thought he was talking about something completely different at that time. Hear how incredulous Matt and I get.  Comment with your thoughts below in the show notes. Read More...

Alright with E3 right around the corner, Konami took it upon themselves to have their 2nd annual "Pre-E3 Press Conference" which started off slow with some social game updates and news. About half way through it picked up for the "hardcore" gamer base. Here are some of the highlights Zone Of The Enders HD, will be releasing for PS3 and Xbox 360. Also it has a new opening animation (See Below). The Metal Gear franchise has been around for 25 years. Read More...

Aggrocast Episode Ninety Eight: Pre-E3 2012 Expectations
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 1st of June 2012 - 04:44 PM ]
It's that time again. The Electronic Entertainment Expo is looming and that means it's time for Matt, Corey and Brian to drop the gloves and pontificate the possibilities of what will happen next week at E3. The list of games the guys go over is too long to write out here...much like the podcast itself. It goes so long in fact, we had to break it up into two chunks. The bulk of it is here in Episode 98, but keep an eye here on Aggrogamer for a special bonus podcast of what happens when the discussion really heats up. Read More...
