by Michael Camacho [ Monday, 12th of January 2009 - 06:15 PM ]
Got a twitter announcement today from Sega Of America letting everyone know they have launched a brand new site for House Of The Dead: Overkill.  The game is the latest in the series, due out on the Wii in February of this year.  Overkill brings a new style to the game series, which is more of a retro 70s style B-Movie. You and a friend take control of Agent G&Agent Washington while investigating disappearances in a Louisiana town. The site currently features the game's story, features, a couple trailers and some of thecharacters from the game. Read More...

How'd They Do That?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 12th of January 2009 - 05:22 PM ]
Commentary On LittleBigPlanet From Some Of The Design Team There is no doubt that LittleBigPlanet, which will from here on be referred to as LBP, was a huge game for the PS3. There are almost 2 million copies out there in the wild currently. Why is that? Well if you haven't seen or played it, it is part and partial to the fact that their sandbox word that lets players build their own levels. It is very robust and hundreds of thousands of custom levels already built. But this is not what this is about. Read More...

Living In A 3D World
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 12th of January 2009 - 04:38 PM ]
3D Vision With NVidia and Panasonic So you think that the games and movies you watch are 3D. Well at least rendered that way. They are, but your eyes of course still only process it still in 2D. Meaning you don't get any depth processed into your brain. That is where the two above companies stepped up and said "Hey! Lets go one step further." After playing around and testing out these systems, the future of gaming, not to mention just home entertainment will be changing. Read More...

Evil Xbox Vs. Evil PS3
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 12th of January 2009 - 01:58 AM ]
Resident Evil 5 Comparison So while at the Consumers Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada over the weekend, I actually got to play Resident Evil 5 at the Capcom party. I did not get a chance to play it while displayed on the side of the Planet Hollywood, which was awesome although cold, but I did get to play it where they had the two versions running side by side. Exact same monitors and connections. The only difference is the systems they were running on. Read More...

Ziff Davis Sells 1UP to UGO
by Michael Camacho [ Wednesday, 7th of January 2009 - 03:19 AM ]
I am saddened to report that Hearst-owned UGO Network has purchased the 1UP Network from Ziff Davis. In what was thought initially to help improve 1UP and its financial standings, has turned out to be a grim surprise. After officially announcing the sale earlier, Ziff Davis Media CEO had this to say, “We believe this is a smart transaction for Ziff Davis Media that places these market leading assets and teams in a great environment poised for further success. The transaction allows us to pay down debt and shift our full focus to our core PCMag Digital Network business. We thank our 1UP team members for their contributions and wish them the best of success into the future”. Read More...

Review — Resident Evil Degeneration [DVD]
by Jesse [ Monday, 5th of January 2009 - 04:14 AM ]
Resident Evil At least Resident Evil Degeneration is better than the live-action Resident Evil movies Of the dozen or so problems that just about every Resident Evil fan has with the live-action movie trilogy, the number one thing has to be the lack of any real connection between the movies and the games other than the title. Thankfully Degeneration changes that by presenting an original story that is built right off of the core of the Resident Evil series and forms a bridge with the upcoming Resident Evil 5. Seven years after the viral outbreak that resulted in the destruction of Raccoon City, survivor Claire Redfield now working for a company called Terra-Save arrives at an airport in Harvardville. [Xbox 360 Review] Tomb Raider: Underworld
by Michael Camacho [ Saturday, 3rd of January 2009 - 08:43 AM ]
Lara Croft returns in Tomb Raider: Underworld, her final adventure before a huge revamping of the series. So is this a brilliant way to send Lara off before reconstruction of the series or an example of why the series needs change? I am pleased to say that this is the best Tomb Raider title to date. Crystal Dynamics uses Underworld to continue and bring a conclusion to Lara's adventure she began in 2006's Legend. Underworld begins with you controlling Lara in Croft Manor as the manor is ablaze. [PS3 Review] Rise Of The Argonauts
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 29th of December 2008 - 09:02 PM ]
A Tale Of Greek Tragedy? The Good: One thing that I really loved about this game was the story telling of the game. First that it was very Greek and somewhat very close to something one would read in their Ancient Histories class. Second, the fact that you could choose your own adventure as you go a long, with choices based on one of the four patron gods of the game. And these choices are more than what other games allow for. Like if you chose to be a dick or a good follower of Ares, it gave a totally different outcome. Read More...

[PC Review] Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 15th of December 2008 - 04:06 AM ]
Episodes 1-4 So I want to preface this review with a little something. I am a casual Strong Bad fan. By that I mean that I watch the flash videos every now and then and am not so entrenched into the whole Strong Bad world or Strongbaddia world if you will. I thought this important so the hard core fans don’t say I am leaning one way or the other. With that said, here we go. For the most part this game plays through, via “episodes,” much like the clips of flash video. Read More...

[PC Review] Sam & Max: Season Two
by Michael Camacho [ Sunday, 14th of December 2008 - 07:46 PM ]
Sam & Max are back in their second collection of episodes appropriately titled, Sam & Max: Season Two. For those who don't know, Sam & Max are a detective duo, calling themselves "the freelance police", based off of the comic series created by Steve Purcell. Sam, a 6-foot dog in stereotypical detective attire, and Max, a rabbit with a pension for violence, solve crimes without any regard for the law and rarely without conflict. The series consists of references various aspects of pop culture, offbeat humorous dialogue, and quick wit. In Ice Station Santa, Sam & Max journey to the North Pole after being attacked at their office by a large robot, which was tagged as being sent by Santa. Read More...

Quantum of Solace PS3 Review
by Jesse [ Tuesday, 9th of December 2008 - 07:54 PM ]
The last time we saw a James Bond video game that tied into a movie was the release of The World is Not Enough in November of 2000 and it wasn’t so hot. Since then there have been a handful of very good games based on original Bond stories and then of course there was an adaptation of From Russia with Love which once again fell a little short of expectations. But now Bond is going through a reboot phase in the movies, and with the license switching hands from EA to Activision, the latest Bond game Quantum of Solace, has gone through some similar changes. Being an Activision property and a shooting game, it’s probably no surprise that the game is built using the Call of Duty 4 engine but a lot of people were probably wondering would the game transfer over well. Game Over!
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 8th of December 2008 - 06:18 PM ]
Exclusive Saw The Video Game Update So over a month ago, I reported on a game adaptation of the Film Saw. I was really excited, but reports are coming in that it was just given the cut, pardon the pun, much like 20 people from Brash Entertainment. A very sad thing, for both those 20 and the gaming community. Hey, it is always bad when a game that could be awesome gets cut. At least I thought it would be awesome. Read More...
