Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 - Ultimate Character Reveal (Iron Fist)
by Jesse [ Tuesday, 4th of August 2009 - 02:34 AM ]
If there’s one thing comic books have taught me, it’s that billionaires with martial arts skills work. It probably the combination of deadly skills and giant piles of money, but they rock. Bruce Wayne/Batman is a humanitarian and one of the scariest heroes on the planet. T’Challa/Black Panther is the king of Wakanda, a prosperous and technologically advanced African nation. But along with everyone else you could possibly think of, Danny Rand as Iron Fist is easily one of the coolest and he’s finally getting the exposure he deserves. Danny Rand was born in New York City to Wendell and Heather Rand. Read More...

The Sandbox Narrative
by Kevin [ Monday, 3rd of August 2009 - 04:16 PM ]
There have been more open world, sandbox style adventures in recent memory than ever before. Non-linear gameplay is fully embraced and every videogame genre has felt its influence at one point or another. The ability to turn off, or flat out ignore mission objectives is a must in today's titles and the unlimited access to a living, breathing game world is embraced without reservation. How often, however, have we allowed that freedom to take the place of a well crafted and well explored story? Grand Theft Auto is usually quoted as a landmark franchise for the ability to blend an open and emergent gameplay with a dedicated and evolving storyline. Read More...

Hollywood and Video Games: An OpEd
by Ben Brody [ Monday, 3rd of August 2009 - 01:58 PM ]
Two words that should never belong to each other: Movie Game. Let's face it, except for a select few (and let's keep in mind that GoldenEye 007 came out 2 years after the movie did), very few licensed games of a film have been even halfway decent, and yet more and more are coming out. Games from series like Harry Potter and Ice Age have been hits with kids that liked the films, but movie based games have failed to find a home with more mature audiences. Games like Resident Evil, Max Payne and Tomb Raider have spawned successful (Box office wise) movies, yet very few mature movies have spawned successful games. Perhaps it's due to the inherent fact that while in video games, players often feel like they have the freedom to make a choice that will affect how the game turns out. Read More...

Comic Con Issue #03
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 1st of August 2009 - 11:54 PM ]
Saturday: Heroes, Zombies, and Tron. Oh My! Reaching the mid-way point in the who convention, you would think that some of the best stuff would have already been done and shown. This is when things would start dying down and the end of it all starts to settle in. This couldn't be further from the truth on this day. A day where we were invited to check out what Activision and Capcom were showing off to the world. Some behind closed doors. Read More...

The Ultimate Gaming Wishlist
by Jesse [ Friday, 31st of July 2009 - 02:52 PM ]
It only took two days for Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution to sink its hooks into me. I became addicted like no other game I’ve played before. But as much as I love Civ Rev, there are so many little things that could make it so much better. Before I get to the suggestions though I should mention, I’ve never really played any of the Civilization games that preceded Revolution so it’s entirely possible that the features I want to see were part of the formula prior to the franchise’s makeover. However having said that I found a lot of similarities between Civ Rev and a far less known PC game called Starships Unlimited. They are essentially the same game except where Civ Rev is focused on Earth and using historic civilizations, Starships Unlimited is set in a fictional universe and utilizes a variety of alien races along with humanity. The Garbage of Guitar Hero 5
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 30th of July 2009 - 07:43 PM ]
Official Guitar Hero 5 Track List and Garbage A few weeks back we brought you the official track list before anyone else on the net even could. Or what a lot of people stated to be our "Rumored" track list for Guitar Hero 5. You know who you are if you are reading this. But the official listing has just been released from Activision for the world. Let's compare the two lists and see how close our "Rumored" list came to the official listing. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with them both. Read More...

Video Games Live Rocks the Queen City
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 30th of July 2009 - 01:13 PM ]
Since its inception in 2005, Video Games Live has been entertaining crowds across the globe.  With its epic scores, great energy and audience participation, VGL promotes the gaming industry in an extremely positive way.  Created by famous video game composers Jack Wall and Tommy Tallarico, the concert series’ agenda of solidifying game music as an art form and the games industry as a positive force are present and spotlighted but are carefully swaddled by the fun, excitement and showmanship.  The first show, in the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, had over 11,000 people and was instantly a phenomenon.  As the first few years have passed, the show has slowly made its way down to smaller cities and venues. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 - Ultimate Character Reveal (Invisible Woman)
by Jesse [ Wednesday, 29th of July 2009 - 07:51 PM ]
Being a working mother can be difficult, not that I speak from experience, but when your “occupation” is that of an adventurer and costumed superhero, I guess it’s easy for things to get a little complicated. Like the rest of the Fantastic Four, Sue Richards (then Sue Storm) was a member of Reed Richards’ crew who piloted his experimental spaceship designed for interstellar travel. Bombarded by cosmic radiation, the four were altered genetically and granted superhuman abilities. Sue initially obtained the power of invisibility, but even with such a power she was often relegated to the “damsel in distress” role. Read More...

Comic Con Issue #1
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 29th of July 2009 - 04:30 PM ]
Thursday: The First Official Day Earlier, I brought you what went on at the preview night of the convention as well as how it has changed quite a bit. For the worse in my opinion. But that didn't keep me or the Aggrogamer team from pressing on to the first official day of the convention. A day that I deemed EA day. A day full of games, small reveals, lounging, and a few extra after hours events. It'll make sense when you continue down. Read More...

Splinter Cell Conviction delayed.............. again
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 28th of July 2009 - 02:28 PM ]
Splinter Cell Conviction, surprise surprise, has been pushed back, again. Having been slightly delayed from its Holidays 2007 release date, it can't hurt to be pushed back again, can it? This year's E3 gameplay of SCC was downright amazing (I did give it my best of show). I was surprised at everything from how detailed the graphics were to how realistic the AI reacted. It did seem like a complete package. Ubisoft, however, sees otherwise and has delayed the game back to March of 2010. Read More...

DJ Jazzy Jeff to be Playable Character in DJ Hero
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 27th of July 2009 - 02:21 PM ]
Previously unaffected by the hype machine's whistles and bells for DJ Hero other than a passing "hrmph," they finally have said enough to pique my interest.  DJ Jazzy Jeff was my first foray into listening to a real turntablist.  Many are only familiar with his work on "Parents Just Don't Understand" or him getting thrown out of the Banks' home on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.  When I first received He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper, I assumed that "Parents..." and "Nightmare on My Street" were all that I would listen to this album.
