Last week I discussed my feelings about downloadable content which is one of two things that have drastically risen in the last few years to become a common site in the video games industry. Today I want to take a look at the second which are Special Edition releases. Before I actually get to the different pieces that are actually packaged within, I’d like to share what I think should be the definition of various special editions because I’ve seen several different variations in my time. I guess when you’re a hot shot like Johnny Storm, pyrokinesis seems a little on the nose. But when you’re dealing with cosmic radiation, sometimes you just have to play with the cards you’re dealt with. At the age of 16, Johnny went along with his sister Susan as a member of the crew for Reed Richards’ experimental interstellar ship. Lead Designer at Raven Software Offers To Pay For Wolfenstein In a stroke of what could be seen as marketing genius, or insane offerings by an over worked designer, the offer has been thrown out to get your copy of Wolfenstein paid for. All offered by the game's Lead Designer, Manveer Heir, over his Twitter account in the early hours of the morning on the 11th of August. Being a working mother can be difficult, not that I speak from experience, but when your “occupation” is that of an adventurer and costumed superhero, I guess it’s easy for things to get a little complicated. Like the rest of the Fantastic Four, Sue Richards (then Sue Storm) was a member of Reed Richards’ crew who piloted his experimental spaceship designed for interstellar travel. Bombarded by cosmic radiation, the four were altered genetically and granted superhuman abilities. It’s no big secret that I’m about as much into comic books as I am video games, which is saying something. I’ve always felt that comics and video games are natural extensions of one another. That is why it’s easy for properties to cross over so that we have games that have been adapted from comics and vice versa. EA LOS ANGELES ANNOUNCES THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMMAND&CONQUER 4 At the end of Command&Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, I'm sure you were left with a few questions unanswered. Not as many as you normally have after an episode of Lost, but you still had some. You were also left wondering if they would ever get answered or if you were going to be left hanging. Release Tuesday 6-30-09

So today is Release Tuesday and here's a rundown of what's coming out: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince It's odd that a movie-based game comes out this early before the actual movie (the movie comes out July 15th in the US/UK and the July 29th in IMAX, it should also be noted the movie has been in the can since May of 2008) The game which semi-follows the movie which semi-follows the book will be released for (here we go) the PS2, PS3, 360, Wii, PC/Mac, DS, and PSP. It's rated E10+. Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood The prequel to 2006's Western FPS Call of Juarez comes out this Release Tuesday and tells the story of the infamous McCall brothers. Read More...

Batman Arkham Asylum XBOX 360 Achievements Listed

The full list of all 50 achievements (including 15 secret ones) has been posted over at http://www.xbox360achievements.org/print.php?gameID=1129. The game, due out later this summer, is also coming out for the PS3, the trophies can be assumed to be the exact same with the exception of the added platinum trophy that you get after acquiring all other trophies. E3 Impression: Gametrak Freedom and Squeeballs Party

Performance Designed Product (a.k.a PDP) first announced the wand like controller, called the Gametrak Freedom, sometime last September for the Xbox 360 and everyone was waiting to see how this motion controller would be different from all the other motion controllers. After seeing it in action at E3, it certainly is. Not only did they show me the Gametrak Freedom controller, but they are also bundling the controller with a game called Squeeball. Batman: Arkham Asylum One game that seemed to be at every one of the big companies booths, sans Nintendo, was Batman Arkham Asylum. It even had it's own booth show casing it as well as an area in the Warner Brothers booth, with leather restraint chair for those who got to bonkers while checking out this game. Be Bionic

New Bionic Commando Video After playing this game almost a year ago at the '08 Comic Con, I wasn't all that impressed. I new it was in it's early stages of development at the time, as there was a large notice on screen and plastered all around that it was in early stages of development. So I passed it off and decided to wait for the whole process to be near it's end before giving any kind of thought on weither or not this game will be worth picking up. And well, it looks like they have solidified my opinion a little more with this new video for the game. A completely accidental update that wasn't suppose to be seen until, well, today. Some might think it isn't a big deal to have a slip like that, but in this instance it is.
