Iron Man 2 Gets Its Prologue On
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 27th of April 2010 - 07:02 PM ]
Well it's coming closer to crunch time for Iron Man 2. Both for the film and videogame. So let's take a look at what we get to look forward to in the next week. At least as far as the videogame goes. Visually it is looking rather decent. As you can see from the below screen shots and new "prologue" trailer for the game. I mean they are not the best visuals known to the gaming industry, but for a movie tie in game you have to admit to yourself that they are pretty spectacular. Even though they do take on the cartoon feel to the whole style, but that is ok. Read More...

The Ultimo Iron Man 2 Videogame
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 22nd of April 2010 - 11:23 PM ]
Last week we were lucky enough to sit in on the developer call for Iron Man 2: The Videogame. During the call, it was asked about further enemies and heroes to be shown in the game. Be it as full on characters or as background NPCs. If you listened to the audio, you would have heard that very little was given out. At least as far as new information and characters. Well looking below at the latest set of game screen shots and renders you will see that Ultimo has finally been shown. Read More...

Arkham Asylum 2 To Be 'Darker' In Tone
by Brian Goodman [ Wednesday, 21st of April 2010 - 04:11 PM ]
Thanks to 1up.com for reporting on a Chicago Comic-Con panel that long time Batman voice Kevin Conroy was speaking at. Conroy has reportedly said that Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 will be "really really dark" and that legendary, iconic villain, Two Face, will be making an appearance. I say awesome. I, like everyone else, loved everything about the first Batman: Arkham Asylum and I feel it speaks really well that an unknown newcomer like Rocksteady Games can rock our worlds with the first good Batman game ever (and a rare piece of quality licensed work). Its nice to see them not only expand deeper into the Batman universe, but also do so with the finely polished third person gameplay the market had not seen in a long while. Lets just hope as much effort goes into adding depth to the gameplay formula that made the first one so great. Read More...

Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2 Comin' At You In 2011
by 345 [ Tuesday, 20th of April 2010 - 07:10 PM ]
This is quite possibly the most miraculous announcement coming out of Captivate '10. Sure, there was that other little game that apparently was a big deal, but for me it's all about the return of Rad Spencer and some of the guys from GRIN, albeit under a different studio name. Fat Shark Games will be keeping Rearmed 2 true to the original, though some new things will be thrown into the mix, including jumping and more physics-based puzzles. Simon Viklund, who did the music for Bionic Commando: Rearmed and Final Fight: Double Impact will be returning to do the score as well, which is very exciting to hear. The one thing that is unclear at this point is whether or not the coop will be online or not, as the original was purely local coop play. Read More...

Iron Man 2: Beneath The Armor
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 16th of April 2010 - 07:18 PM ]
Here we go with another film based game due out here soon. A few weeks from now soon at that. Not to mention one of the larger titles coming out this year for true uber geeks. Suck it sparklers. In any instance, I was able to join up on a conference call with Dean Martinetti, the game’s producer, and Mike McHale, the game's Development Director. Where we got to throw out our questions about the game as well as try to gauge on why we or anyone should pick up another film based game. Especially since the last one in this franchise was such a piss-poor adaptation. Read More...

Review: Mega Man 10
by 345 [ Thursday, 15th of April 2010 - 03:08 PM ]
Mega Man 10 (available on XBLA, WiiWare, and PSN for 800 MS Pts/1000 Wii Pts/$10, respectively) is an incredibly fun and enjoyable entry in the classic Mega Man series. A follow-up to 2008's Mega Man 9 in more ways than just a new number, this game takes a lot of the feedback and criticism the latter had to craft one of the best sidescrolling experiences in years. While there isn't a whole lot Capcom and Inti Creates actually changed in the bigger scheme of things, Mega Man 10 features a lot of new tweaks and balance adjustments that make it far less threatening than its predecessor and more entertaining in the long run. While there are some tough areas in the game, overall I wouldn't call it difficult at all, and perhaps it is one of the most fair games in the series. Read More...

The Blue Bomber In High Definition?
by Kevin [ Monday, 8th of March 2010 - 04:36 PM ]
You know, this Eric Ruth guy is quickly becoming one of my favorite people. Not being content with creating a Left 4 Dead drenched in 8-bit nostalgia, this guy took it upon himself to recreate Mega Man 9 in High Definition. To accomplish this, he had to redo every element of the game, from enemy art to music. So essentially what he has done thus far is take a really high profile current title and give it the retro treatment.  Now he has taken what is essentially a retro title - outfit it in high profile-y type goodness - and condensed it into a finely tuned package of incredibly awesome. Warner Bros. Will Soon Be Bringing Batman To You
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 23rd of February 2010 - 10:37 PM ]
Batman has been a staple of the Warner Bros. company for a very long time. Live action films, animated series, and a few games have been brought to us from Warner directly in the past. Now it looks like that is going to change here real soon. Especially with the most recent new franchise, Arkham Asylum. A game originally handed out to another company, Rocksteady, to design, code and build. Which they did to an extent that it won a load of awards and shipped over three million copies. Read More...

Tom Clancy & Friends On Demand
by Kevin [ Wednesday, 13th of January 2010 - 05:13 PM ]
It looks like the two games next up for the Games on Demand treatment are, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 and Kane&Lynch: Dead Men. I find it funny that with both game descriptions they more or less end with "no refunds are available for this item." It adds a deeper level to the game description for some reason. Try and read them in the same way you would the game description, envision the music for each. It's epic isn't it? Read More...

OnLive Will Live
by Kevin [ Thursday, 1st of October 2009 - 04:40 PM ]
With the beta testing of this game-on-demand service launching not too long ago, it seems that OnLive has picked up even more steam and, perhaps, more ammunition against naysayers. Investors have gathered around the service and now include: AT&T Media Holdings, Lauder Partners and Maverick Capitol. These investors joined the ranks of other such partners as Warner Bros., who believe there may be a future in this. Yesterday a release from the CEO, via the official site, sounded as enthusiastic as ever: "Big news today — OnLive has closed a major round of funding with participation from AT&T Media Holdings, Inc. The Love Child Of Square Enix & Pop Cap Games
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 24th of September 2009 - 09:12 PM ]
At TGS Square Enix announced today, their new Puzzle/RPG named Gyromancer. It's basically a highly addictive Bejewled PopCap game with the RPG fantasy twist from the best in the business. Gyromancer will be available for XBox 360 as well as Steam. Both PopCap and Square Enix have collaborated before, in Japanese games, but this is more of a creative avenue for both teams. Gamers will play a Sorcerer of the Godseye, named Rivel, and traverse through ten different stages, collecting powerful beasts to summon throughout the adventure. Pokemon? Read More...

Batman Brings More Darkness To The UK
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 23rd of September 2009 - 05:30 PM ]
The minds at Eidos and behind Batman Arkham Asylum just don't give up. Last week with the Insane Night Map Pack and now this week with the Prey in the Darkness Map Pack. Well at least this week if you live in the United Kingdom or are willing to download across country lines. At least this is all according to the press release that was sent out about this new map. Hopefully it will be a globally released thing. In any instance, these two new challenges sound just as amazing as the last two that were released. Read More...

Batman Goes Totally Insane
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 15th of September 2009 - 03:02 AM ]
There is no denying that Batman: Arkham Asylum is an awesome game. It is what a Batman game should be. I don't think anyone could deny that. At least without getting spammed and flamed on every gaming site out there. I smell attention whoring out there now that I mentioned that. In any instance, the core game didn't end the whole experience for gamers who loved this game. There were the challenge maps after all was said and done. 16 of them for Batman if you completed a good chunk of the Riddle's riddles. Read More...

Review: Batman: Arkham Asylum
by Jesse [ Monday, 31st of August 2009 - 07:17 PM ]
If I’m not mistaken, Batman: Arkham Asylum is the twenty-first video game centered around the Dark Knight. Going all the way back to 1986 and the first game, appropriately titled Batman, I’ve only really found a handful of the games that can be considered at the very least decent. The SNES version of Batman Returns was great as a typical side-scrolling brawling game and of course more recently there was last year’s Lego Batman which was good for a laugh or two. However nothing really captured the spirit of the character, let alone his environment and for the games that tried, they failed miserably. But Batman is one of those characters that people are willing to take a chance on. Read More...
