Review: Batman: Arkham Asylum
by Jesse [ Monday, 31st of August 2009 - 07:17 PM ]
If I’m not mistaken, Batman: Arkham Asylum is the twenty-first video game centered around the Dark Knight. Going all the way back to 1986 and the first game, appropriately titled Batman, I’ve only really found a handful of the games that can be considered at the very least decent. The SNES version of Batman Returns was great as a typical side-scrolling brawling game and of course more recently there was last year’s Lego Batman which was good for a laugh or two. However nothing really captured the spirit of the character, let alone his environment and for the games that tried, they failed miserably. But Batman is one of those characters that people are willing to take a chance on. Read More...

Hey Look At Me! I'm Climbing A Bridge!
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 26th of August 2009 - 08:23 PM ]
The Saboteur Screen Shots So The Saboteur tried to sneak by with a quiet showing of the game. Either because they were drowned out by al the Blizzcon news and other GamesCom news that was all a flutter. But you know what? We at AggroGamer here caught these sneaks trying to get past everyone's view. We caught the game in action here and we caught it red handed. Climbing, driving and sneaking on the peripherals of everyone's views. Read More...

Pyro Studios Making A New Commandos Game!
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 25th of August 2009 - 03:16 PM ]
Well it's about time...Pyro Studios, creators of the famed Commandos series, is set to release a new Commandos game more in line with the first title in this WWII strategy franchise. How many of you recall the critically low scoring FPS shooter that was Commandos: Strike Force? Yeah, even Pyro Studios was less than enthusiastic about the title. Well, players will be happy to know that this time around they are going to be bringing back all the tactical gameplay that players knew and loved. No word as to how much Commandos publisher Eidos will be involved. Read More...

Time To Clean Up Arkham
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 25th of August 2009 - 01:38 PM ]
Batman: Arkham Asylum - Release Trailer Just in time for the official release date, in North America, come what will be the coolest looking trailer/advertisement for Batman Arkham Asylum to date. Even better than the sing skeleton video they have showing off the Scarecrow DLC you get for pre-ordering at GameStop. Albeit, not as funny, but it is one of the best views of the game that the general public will get a look at before they actually get to pick up the game. Even more so earlier for those across the big blue ocean to the East, they have to wait a few more days to have the Caped Crusader on their systems. Read More...

Flight or Firefight
by Kevin [ Friday, 21st of August 2009 - 02:57 AM ]
You could potentially get your hands on the new Firefight mode from one of the most anticipated titles of the year. Bungie, Microsoft, and Gamestop have joined into an unholy alliance and are presenting a Halo 3: ODST Transport vehicle that will be making stops at GameStops all across the US, giving lucky folks a go with the title. Major Nelson via his blog, dropped the dates for the tour, and hopefully one of them are going to be close to you - if you are interested, that is: Halo 3: ODST Transport Vehicle Stops City Location Date Seattle (Redmond, WA) Redmond Town Center 8/22 Portland (Hillsboro, OR) Tanasbourne Town Center 8/23 San Francisco (Union City, CA) Union Landing 8/25 San Jose (Antioch, CA) Center At Slatten Ranch 8/26 Los Angeles (Pasadena, CA) Hastings Village 8/28 San Diego, CA Carmel Mt. The Race For The Crown Has Begun! Fable 3 Announced!
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 20th of August 2009 - 02:49 PM ]
After a viral marketing scheme by LionsHead Studios, we finally see what all the hub-bub was about. If you haven't been watching, the LionsHead website has been showing leaders of our time (Abraham Lincoln for example) and quotes underneath each one followed by a number. The numbers were counting down each day until today. Today also happens to be the opening day for GamesCom 2009. LionsHead Studios officially announced Fable 3 as well as posted the new trailer today. Read More...

Can't Gamers Play With Themselves Anymore?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 13th of August 2009 - 07:48 PM ]
Multiplayer: The Book Burning Generation The other night I was driving home at 1 am with the God of War soundtrack playing in the car. As the game music, with mixed in audio clips from the game, was playing through my car speakers, I began to think on how truly epic the story of this game was. Not epic as in awesome, even though it is, but more in lines of how it actually fell in line with the Epic writings of the Greeks. Think the Odyssey and Iliad for what I mean. It soon sparked in my head on how games like this are looking to be a bit more few and far between in the current state of things. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 11th of August 2009 - 11:02 PM ]
Announcing a BioShock 2 Pre-Order Bonus It was rumored all over the internet over the last week or so that everyone's "favorite" pre-order store, GameStop, was getting exclusive DLC for the multiplayer part of the game. Well at least that was one of the rumors abound the net. But it was one of the more solid ones. Especially since The Cult of Rapture, BioShock 2's official website, just announced that it is true. With pictures of the concepts to boot. Read More...

'Prince of Darkness' to be Final Boss at Closing Concert Instance
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 11th of August 2009 - 03:28 PM ]
If you are one of the "lucky" individuals who either bought a ticket before Blizzcon sold out in minutes or who paid a lot for a ticket on eBay (*cough* you know who you are *cough*), you should be excited to find out that Ozzy Osbourne, the Prince of Darkness himself, will be headlining the closing concert of the show in less than two weeks. Ozzy is already associated with the World of Warcraft universe through commercials for their latest expansion, Wrath of the Lich King. Do not worry not-attending WoW-heads for Blizzard has also taken the time today to remind you that you can still purchase the Pay Per View special of Blizzcon on DirecTV for the minimal cost of $39. 360 Pro Gets The Boot
by Ben Brody [ Thursday, 6th of August 2009 - 07:25 PM ]
As the prophecy foretold, the XBOX 360 Pro was going away. Now we have pictures, not too shabby ones either. As you can plainly see in the image, the information on the box no longer lists the Pro in the comparison sheet. This jives with the reports back in June that Microsoft was looking to replace the Pro with the Elite, shaving the Pro from the lineup. The prophecy, also spoke of another fate for the 360: a September price drop. While this may not seem necessary as the 360 is already the cheapest current-gen system available, it would make sense as who would buy a Pro for $299. Read More...

Screen Shots Like Tribbles
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 30th of July 2009 - 09:52 PM ]
53 Shots From Star Trek Online Just when you think things are about to go quiet and cold for the elusive Star Trek Online, a plethora of things come flying out from Cryptic. It almost seems like they really did have an invasion of tribbles that somehow mingled with their screen shots and just kept multiplying. They have gone from releasing just a few shots with numbers of around 6 to the 53 that you will see below. Either that or their PR team has been sitting on these since before E3 and just now thought, "Maybe we should release them now. Read More...

Movie Games Gone Wild
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 20th of July 2009 - 05:44 PM ]
WARNER BROS. INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT AND LEGENDARY PICTURES PRESENT WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE Seems like a late announcement, but it was one that could easily be figured to have been made. Since most films nowadays get their own video game either based off or completely on the film in question. Why would there be any difference for Warner Bros. Where The Wild Things Are? So far they have yet to miss a game based on their films this year. Read More...

Kratos Coming to Comics
by Jesse [ Friday, 17th of July 2009 - 11:36 PM ]
Video games being adapted to comic book form is a natural fit. So it is probably not a surprise to hear that another one is coming down the line. But now, arguably Sony’s biggest franchise, will join the likes of Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Gears of War, Metal Gear Solid, and Resident Evil. Partnering with DC and Wildstorm, Sony’s blockbuster God of War video game franchise is the inspiration for an all new 6-issue mini series. The first issue is tentatively scheduled to debut in October with a run that should last roughly until the release of God of War III in March of 2010. Handling the project is comics legend Marv Wolfman. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 15th of July 2009 - 04:49 PM ]
Batman Arkham Asylum The Villains August 25th is creeping up on all of us very fast. It's just a little over a month away from now. Why is it so important? Well that is when you get to take control of the Dark Knight in his brand, spanking, new video game Batman: Arkham Asylum. Taking control and putting those mentally ill villains back into their cages and cells.
