Team Meat To Serve Up New Game
by Matt Waitt [ Friday, 1st of July 2011 - 01:02 PM ]
Are the blisters on your fingers almost fully healed? Did you finally get enough money to buy a new controller after breaking your previous one? Is your mind put back together from the insanity that is Super Meat Boy? If so, then I have some great news for you. The two-man army behind Team Meat have recently announced that they will be making a new game that is "ambitious, fun and more experimental." So you can loosen the grip on that controller now guys. Edmund McMillen, the co-founder of Team Meat, told Eurogamer. Read More...

E3 2011 Hands On: Twisted Metal
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 14th of June 2011 - 08:56 PM ]
So it has been a year since the new Twisted Metal was announced at E3 during the Sony press conference. It seems like it would be a good time to check in and see what the designers over at Eat Sleep Play have been doing since then. Yes there have been some fun new trailers and game play footage, but that doesn't give one a good feeling of how the game would handle. For that you need to place hands to controller. It was extremely fitting that the first location to get my godly hands on the game was in the arcade set up immediately after the Sony conference. Read More...

We Got A Look At Axel From Twisted Metal...Kind Of
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 28th of April 2011 - 08:38 PM ]
Not only do we have a few shots of the Axel-like vehicle from Twisted Metal, but we also have a couple of game play clips of the multiplayer for the game. One kind of looks like the semi overtake races from Split/Second with a TM twist and the other a full arena style combat with a God Of War twist. At least that twist with all the spike traps and huge swinging spiked balls aimed to destroy your vehicle. I will say that what I've seen so far did have me flashing back to my early PS1 days with Twisted Metal though. Read More...

Want More Of The Twisted Metal Trailer? Well Here You Go
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 14th of April 2011 - 10:59 PM ]
If you were like me and found the new Twisted Metal trailer a little short and lacking, then here is the director's cut for our digestion. You know the version that I am sure that David Jaffe would have wanted us to see from the get go. But now, like before, I want even more. There is more game play and more on each of the three playable characters. Finally we get to see Sweet Tooth and Mr. Grimm as family men and the twisted perceptions of Baby Doll. Read More...

Finally A Twisted Metal Release Date
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 11th of April 2011 - 05:42 PM ]
It only took a little under a year, but we now have a release date and a pretty awesome trailer for Twisted Metal. All I have to say right off the bat; WELL WORTH THE WAIT. At least worth the wait for the trailer as we still have to wait until October 4th for the game. But at least we get to have the fun media frenzy to look forward to and most likely a few demos at conventions and on the PSN. The trailer doesn't show all too much of the game but a few scenes from the live action films and slight game play but at least we have been promised some more info here this week. What this could be is anyone's guess, but I'm sure it will be only the start of the forth coming avalanche of info and visuals. Read More...

The Shattering Is Upon Us And I Blame The Gnomes
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 24th of November 2010 - 04:43 AM ]
It's been six years to the day since the original release of World of Warcraft and how does Blizzard celebrate? By destroying the old world of Azeroth compliments of a big angry dragon made of fire and metal. According to a forum post by moderator Zaryhm the latest patch 4.0.3a has gone live on servers today thus changing the way denizens of Azeroth have adventured for years. The cinematic below is the same that you will see when you first login to your account, so if you haven't seen it (doubtful), or don't want to spoil it (your call) don't watch it! Let's take a quick look at what this new patch is actually brought today. Read More...

Review: TerRover
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 21st of October 2010 - 11:06 PM ]
Creat Studios generated a lot of buzz when it showed its downloadable title, TerRover, at E3 this summer. Then when the demo was dropped exclusively for PlayStation Plus members, excitement for the game was off the charts. Sensitive controls and dynamic game play showed the promise of a precision platformer – something the hardcore gaming community can always get behind. TerRover embraces and champions the game design concept of Trial by Death. Trial by Death is the process by which the player acquires knowledge of the game and its systems of control by forging forward without the necessary information to succeed, relying on continuous failure to derive the correct solution. Comic Con Impressions: Twisted Metal
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 2nd of August 2010 - 06:36 PM ]
Ever since it was announced at E3 that there would finally be a Twisted Metal making its debut on the PS3, I have been waiting ever so patiently for a really good showing of what the people over at Eat Sleep Play have accomplished - outside of the demo they had and modes announced. Perhaps reveal some story, game play modes or other characters. All those were all strongly touched on by David Jaffe at this year's Comic Con. This included showing a few behind-the-scenes views of the "cut scenes" they will be using for Twisted Metal. Read More...

Review: DeathSpank
by 345 [ Monday, 19th of July 2010 - 06:46 PM ]
DeathSpank is the latest game to feature Ron Gilbert's involvement, famous for creating The Secret of Monkey Island, among other games. Originally a comic strip character featured in one of Gilbert's Grumpy Gamer series, DeathSpank the game can be summed up as a loot game, similar to Diablo. However, the main difference (and gimmick) here is that the story and characters act as a parody to that genre, and the entire game itself is very much based around its humor. While this definitely adds to the charm and style of the game, it ultimately felt like the ironic clichés were too over-the-top and childish. Playing DeathSpank is relatively simple, and the controls are very similar to most any other dungeon crawler made for consoles in the past. Read More...

Review: Deathsmiles
by Michael Camacho [ Thursday, 8th of July 2010 - 05:04 PM ]
Fans of the SHMUP (Shoot 'em up) genre in the U.S. have always had a hard time in recent console generations finding easy access to titles without importing them from Japan. Thankfully, Aksys Games is trying to reverse that trend. Aksys has released their first SHMUP in the U.S. with Deathsmiles. On the development side is Cave, one of Japan's best SHMUP developers. Deathsmiles is a horizontal, side-scrolling, bullet hell SHMUP. It features young girls in Gothic Lolita outfits fighting against monsters to stop Jitterbug from opening a portal. Read More...

Review: UFC Undisputed 2010
by Binh Nguyen [ Thursday, 3rd of June 2010 - 05:02 PM ]
UFC surprised us with a lovely right hook with last year's title UFC Undisputed 2009. A year later THQ gives us the slogan “So you wanna be a Fighter” with this year's release of UFC Undisputed 2010. Yeah the name hasn't changed much, but the game certainly has. If you do not know what UFC is by now then you seriously have been living under a rock - especially with names like Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell, Royce Gracie, Randy Couture, George St. Pierre (GSP for short), Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock. Names made famous cause of UFC. Read More...

Review: Beat Hazard
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 26th of April 2010 - 06:26 PM ]
A combination of the best of what you love about Geometry Wars, Asteroids and Audiosurf, Beat Hazard is a rocking hand-eye coordination / spatial recognition challenge. Developed and published by Cold Beam Games, the game takes the music already stored on your computer and turns it into a space shooter. Big on gameplay, Beat Hazard makes no pretense regarding the presence of a story. Rather, it absorbs the drama from the song and builds your world from that palette. Read More...
