Lessons Learned: Record of Agarest War
by Michael Camacho [ Monday, 17th of May 2010 - 02:34 PM ]
Have you ever been excited for a game's release, and somehow found a way to ruin the game experience due to your own mistake? I guess in my case, it's more stupidity than a mistake. What I am about to recount is how I went from being in Heaven to dragging myself through Hell in a matter of 10 days. This is my story on how my attempt to review Record of Agarest War went sour and the lessons I learned. As a gamer that is very keen on the import scene, I had heard of Record of Agarest War when it was first released in Japan in late 2007. I was intrigued by the reported dating aspects, the Soul Breeding the game touted and being able to play through story through multiple generations. Read More...

Dream Another Dream Naughty Bear
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 14th of May 2010 - 10:08 PM ]
I swear to the gods that Naughty Bear, like Micheal Bay, love to use things from our pasts and childhoods. Fortunately, unlike Micheal Bay, destroying them is not the case in these "Nightmare" videos. Aliens and The Blair Witch Project already got the "Nightmare" redition done by Naughty Bear, so you must be wondering what is next? Well if you really don't want to see the fun, I'll give you a hint. It's not Event Horizon. Read More...

Mini Review: Dante's Inferno: Trials Of Lucida
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 14th of May 2010 - 02:32 PM ]
It was talked about way back in February when Dante's Inferno first launched and has since come to fruition. That being the DLC that adds multiplayer to a game that was originally sold as a single player experience. Also DLC that adds the ability for players to build their own challenge maps for other people who own Dante's Inferno to play. The DLC I am speaking of is The Trials Of Lucida. Is it worth the $10? Flailing Heads And Dropping The BulletStorm
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 13th of May 2010 - 09:53 PM ]
It seems like this was one of the gaming world's only closely-guarded secrets kept for so long. Finally, the embargo on the big hype that is BulletStorm has been lifted. Trailers and screens shots can now be shown to the public for the first time. Hell, if you even head over to the PlayStation Blog. you can even hear Cliff Bleszinski talking up a storm on the title. Pun intended. Read More...

Bruce Willis Is All Over Kane An Lynch
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 13th of May 2010 - 07:06 PM ]
Now correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this latest multiplayer mode for Kane and Lynch 2 look extremely close to the story of Die Hard With A Vengeance? Take a team down a section of a subway tunnel and through a hole you've made to steal money from a bank. Sounds pretty damn close, if you take out all the other mind games from the film. Looks like Bruce Willis is getting a small homage in the game for playing the balding Kane in the film version of the franchise. Or I could just be looking into this a bit more than is needed. Not So Naughty Bear Achievements
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 12th of May 2010 - 10:20 PM ]
For a game that is all about being naughty, I will say that the list of achievements, and we can safely assume trophies, is kind of on the not so naughty side. Filled more with irony and secrecy if you ask me. Not to mention a few homages to other great franchises, namely Resident Evil sticks out from the list below. But where are the naughty titles for these things? I mean where is the Blowing Your Load or That's What She Said titles? Read More...

Kane And Lynch Take A Look At Arcade Modes
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 5th of May 2010 - 10:39 PM ]
So have you been curious on how the multiplayer aspect of Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days is going to look? Or have you been curious on how it will actually be implemented through story or any other way? Well ponder not so much any more. We have a new look at the multiplayer for Kane and Lynch 2. One of which is a very fun descriptive, and audio non-safe for work, clip describing what is going on. While I am not a big fan of multiplayer in games, in fact I think it can ruin a game in some cases, the multiplayer for Kane and Lynch looks like an interesting twist. I mean, your allies and team mates can turn on you at any moment if I heard and saw that right in the clip here. Read More...

2K Sports Lost 1 Million In 1 Day
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 5th of May 2010 - 04:47 PM ]
Well it looks like the boasting of how difficult pitching a perfect game is in 2K's MLB 2K10 just cost them a million clams, or dollars if you are not hip. How is that? Through a competition they were hosting where they tempted fans and players of MLB 2K10 to prove they could pitch a perfect game. Something they obviously thought would be near impossible with all the updates they made to their title. Now it is confirmed today (5/5/10) that Wade McGilberry pitched said perfect game. All on the first day of the competition as well. Read More...

Review: Dead to Rights: Retribution
by Kevin [ Monday, 3rd of May 2010 - 05:35 PM ]
Dead to Rights: Retribution is a third person action title following vice cop Jack Slate and his groin-ravaging, canine companion Shadow as they uncover the seedier threats that are rising against an already seedy Grant City. Essentially, it is a re-imagining of the franchise that began with very basic, but very fun run and gun gameplay with a hint of John Woo-style dramatics. The sequel to the original, Dead to Rights II: Hell to Pay, moved the series from all the aforementioned positives into an area of monotony and outright brokenness. It took the ideas of the first game, which were actually pretty fresh amidst most of the titles out at the time, and did absolutely nothing with them. Read More...

Review: Super Street Fighter IV
by 345 [ Friday, 30th of April 2010 - 08:00 PM ]
Super Street Fighter IV is definitely a great value at $40, especially for people who didn't pick up the original. Aside from everything originally included with IV, Super also includes a handful of new characters, new stages, new music and updated online play. This includes some new modes and features that fans have been wanting for over a year now. A new roster update comprises of a nice selection of characters from various series in the Street Fighter universe, as well as two new ones exclusive to Super. Juri is a welcome addition with a quickness that many other characters are lacking, and Hakan is a grappler covered in oil that brings more depth to his style of character. Read More...

Alan Wake Is Already A Hero In Bright Falls?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 29th of April 2010 - 02:08 PM ]
So, as promised, below are the first two episodes 0f the prequel to Alan Wake. Something I was hoping would clarify the differences between Alan Wake and Silent Hill for me. They look so damn close in style, world and gameplay for me, and I'm most likely forgetting others as well. So let's see what Remedy has in store for us to see the differences for the story. That has got to be where they differ, which would be perfect for me. Let's start by watching episode one of the prequel. Read More...

Halo Reach Minus The Afterbirth
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 28th of April 2010 - 11:26 PM ]
For you non-hardcore Halo fans out there, you may not have known that the Halo: Reach beta is kicking off in the next week, May 3rd to be exact. Perhaps you did know because of the mighty inter-webs. In either instance, Bungie wanted to ensure that everyone knew that there was a Beta on the way. They want you to know so much that they have placed an ad to inform the uninitiated and give you hardcore fanatics something to get all moist over. Here it is, submitted for your approval. Oh, and if you are confused a bit on what you are seeing, look below the clip for Bungie's explanation as to what is going on here. Read More...

We Will Soon Be Able To Torture More Sims On Consoles
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 28th of April 2010 - 05:10 PM ]
We all knew it was only a matter of time - with that time being yesterday (4/27/10) - before we could begin playing Hostel Sims 3 on our consoles. A game that we all know is the most fun when you are torturing these poor defenseless people or forcing them into really messed up relationships just in hopes of seeing two chicks hop into bed with each other. Don't deny it. You've tried and most likely succeeded in doing so. Read More...
