Dark Void Demo Impressions
by Kevin [ Thursday, 7th of January 2010 - 01:24 PM ]
The sci-fi action-adventure Dark Void demo has dropped today for the Xbox 360 and will be following on the PSN tomorrow. With the demo you get the chance to take that jetpack for a spin, and engage in some aerial and on-foot combat. It is supposed to serve to wet the appetite for the games' January 19th release date. With some unique gameplay elements like vertical cover, I've been looking forward to taking this title for a test drive. The press release speaks with some glowing words of course, "With the launch of Capcom’s sci-fi shooter, Dark Void, right around the corner, Capcom is giving gamers a chance to test drive the void for themselves this week with a downloadable demo coming to Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network. Steam Achievements Added to Torchlight
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 23rd of December 2009 - 04:35 PM ]
We, as humans, are a competitive, goal-oriented species.  The category of humans known as gamers are characteristically more so.  So when little goals outside of the main game play were created on platforms this console generation (Achievements on Xbox 360 and Steam, trophies on the PS3), gamers took to them with a ferocity only matched by the public's outrage to the release of Coke 2.  The obsession with achievements has grown to the point that people will go out of their way to grind away for hours, simply to have the tiny extrinsic award.  As a bit of an afterthought and most likely a reward to the fans, last week Runic Games released over 60 achievements that may be earned on Steam for their critically acclaimed action-RPG Torchlight. Nintendo and Xbox want to Monitor your health
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 22nd of December 2009 - 03:14 AM ]
Ever wonder what it would be like to hook yourself up to your Xbox or Nintendo Wii and have it monitor certain vitality signs, use the data to change your avatar accordingly, or tell you what your feeling during certain points of a video game. Imagine status updates but from your internal Biology, take that Facebook!Microsoft recently patented tracking of players physical characteristics and converting that information to reflect on your avatar.  Of course a third party device would have to be created first, but Microsoft would pick up all the info and beam it into your Xbox Live account, making your Avatar look more like you. Review: God of War Collection - GoWII
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 18th of December 2009 - 03:49 PM ]
Continuing from the God of War Review from a few weeks ago, the beginning part of the Collection, we bring you God of War II. Which as you would think, continues the story of Kratos and his fight against the Gods and Titans from Greek mythology. Only this time with a little bit more twists and a quasi surprise ending that some could kind of see coming. At least if you know your mythology. Before I get to much further in, let me answer a question you may have. Read More...

Well, the beta test application site for Final Fantasy XIV has opened up, and while the beta may only be for the PC, it is a great chance for those interested to poke around in what could be a fantastic MMO experience. For the curious, the requirements are: Be at least 18 years of age Possess a Square Enix ID account (Register for a Square Enix ID account here, if you don't have one already) Possess an internet connection Be capable of downloading large amounts of data Be capable of submitting bug reports in either Japanese, English, French, or German Like any other beta test, there will be several waves and opportunities to enter the beta so don't be discouraged if you don't make it in initially. For those looking for the PS3 experience, it seems that will be revealed "at a later date." Despite that, 2010 is going to be the year for this game's release, and I, for one, am excited. Aggro Attractions: Games Coming Soon
by Kevin [ Tuesday, 15th of December 2009 - 04:10 PM ]
A lot of people were disappointed by the recent Video Game Awards held on Spike TV, and in most cases the disappointment is very much deserved. Although the award ceremony was filled with professionals and had some fantastic exclusives to premier, it still comes off as very much forced and not at all exciting. Fortunately, for the gaming audience there were some great trailers shown. As Binh said in a great article that covered the results of the show, the true stars were the trailers. Read More...

Dante's Inferno Is Taking The PS3 To Hell Early
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 11th of December 2009 - 03:42 AM ]
So in a time where exclusives can greatly help a console system, as long as the game is going to be a big one, it looks as if Sony just landed themselves half a big fish. A fish that is showing up on the XBox and the PSP as well. But it looks like the best version of Dante's Inferno, the game I'm talking about, is going to be on the PS3 and only the PS3. The next best part, FOR NO ADDITIONAL COST TO US GAMERS. Yea you read that, now love it. Read More...

by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 10th of December 2009 - 02:50 PM ]
Only weeks away from the highly anticipated launch, Darksiders is a post-apocalyptic action-adventure that puts you in the shoes of one of the famed Four Horsemen.  Light and fluffy, I know, but after a couple years since its announcement, Vigil Games has positioned themselves and the game in a very advantageous position in the dawn of the upcoming year.  Also not hurting is the fact that the game looks to be shaping up like it's going to blow your mind.Haydn Dalton, lead designer of the game at Vigil, took a few moments to answer some of the burning questions surrounding the game. EA announces today Dead Space 2... again.... formally this time....  That's right your favorite silent hero Isaac Clarke is making a comeback. Although certain people who will remain nameless *cough* Glenn Schofield *cough* have already mentioned back in October that Dead Space would be getting a sequel, it seems Visceral Games wanted an actual press release, just to make it all official and fancy.Visceral Games (Previously known as EA Redwood Shores) have much to say about the new title:“We’re thrilled to jump back into the series, making the next chapter in Isaac’s journey. The infection continues to spread throughout space and our hero Isaac Clarke is the only person able to contain it. Read More...

by Binh Nguyen [ Saturday, 5th of December 2009 - 09:00 PM ]
We all know that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 took away dedicated servers from PC gamers. This is not the case for Shattered Horizon. On December 4th, 2009 Futuremark Games Studio finally allows for a dedicated server for Shattered Horizon, a multiplayer first-person shooter played in zero gravity. At least PC gamers will be able to choose how they want to play Shattered Horizon and who they want to play with. Players will be getting greater protection from cheats, hackers and griefers.
