The New Year is just around the corner, and players are anxiously awaiting a slew of games to be released in the 1rst quarter.  Well unfortunately some of the heavy hitters that were planned on being released have been announced as pushed back until later next year. Bethesda's shooter Brink which was scheduled to be released in spring of 2010, got pushed back to a fall release for all platforms.  Brink is the Splash Damage title that we have seen a few snippets of lately.  G4 just recently posted a new video on the title, highlighting the Smart Freedom of Movement system. Shh. We Got Your Tron Tease. Don't Tell...
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 25th of November 2009 - 04:52 AM ]
While not overly impressive as a full video of gameplay or what is going on the game, that will come later at the VGA's, what we do have is a little sneak peek at what the video game of a movie about a killer video game may be have with in the lines of code. Yea, that was a stretch for a very lack luster attempt at a joke. In any instance, if you are interested in being teased with very little actual game play or story shots for the game part of the new film Tron, then below is something for you. It is a short promo showing off a little bit of the fact that there will be light cycles in the game. Read More...

Jeff Strain announced Monday his new Video Game Development studio Undead Labs. Whats this? You don't know who Jeff Strain is you say? Jeff is from the Blizzard world, he worked on the programming for Diablo as well as StarCraft. He also formed the initial development team and was the lead programmer for World of Warcraft in '99. That's a good start but where did he go from there? In April of 2000, Jeff joined forces with Mike O'Brien and Patrick Wyatt to establish ArenaNet. Read More...

Mass We Pray is the 6th circle of Hell
by Corey Dockendorf [ Sunday, 22nd of November 2009 - 03:30 AM ]
Dante's Inferno has been this year's king of the publicity stunts. If you've been keeping up with gaming news this year, you would have seen Christians petitioning Dante's Inferno at E3, EA offering a "night of sin with 2 hot girls" during Comic-Con 09, and finally there was that little business of $200 being sent to game reviewers in skeleton covered boxes. Well Dante's Inferno is at it again this time with a website that would scare the life out of any gamer. Mass We Pray is the latest edition to the Dante's Inferno marketing campaign: A family shouldn’t have to wait until Sunday to worship the Lord. Read More...

Kane & Lynch, Bowling In Shanghai, And Naked
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 18th of November 2009 - 08:55 PM ]
Finally some of the rumors about this game can be put to rest. Mainly the one if it was even going to be made. Let alone the entirely nude level. The one rumored where our two pals run around completely in their birthday suits. Yea, that's right. Nekkidness. All of that aside, how did Square Enix and IO Interactive clear up these rumors? Well by straight out announcing the game for a 2010 release window through two video, seen below. The naked level being quasi-confirmed via the videos as well. Read More...

Peggle's Reign Expands To PSN
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 18th of November 2009 - 12:11 AM ]
Today Popcap announced that Peggle and Peggle Nights will be releasing its addiction-y goodness on the PlayStation Network. They also announced that in tune with this release, Peggle Nights will also find itself on the XBox LIVE Arcade. Peggle on the PSN will be priced similarly to the original Peggle's release on XBLA ($10), while Peggle Nights will be priced at $5 (400 Microsoft points). Peggle is one of those games that seemingly anyone can get into. Yes, I'm sure there are three to four people that don't enjoy it, but where the game succeeds is its innate ability to keep everything simple and to do that simple well. Read More...

Review: Left 4 Dead 2
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 17th of November 2009 - 09:12 PM ]
Left 4 Dead 2, at its core, is the same game as it's predecessor: a zombie shooting game. But when you scratch the surface and look deeper, it's a much different game. Left 4 Dead was a fairly linear game, with 1 main path to take and while the guns and zombies may spawn in different places, it's pretty much the same the first few run throughs as the next few run throughs. Left 4 Dead 2 is different, it's a much more open experience, and while there still is one main path, there are several routes alongside it, making it so that you can get to the next safe room two or three different ways. More difficult paths, or longer ones, net you better equipment such as better weaponry or ammunition. Read More...

So What Is The Story With Dante's Inferno?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 16th of November 2009 - 11:32 PM ]
With the slew of promotions EA and Visceral Games are doing for this game, (Greedy Checks, Rick Rolling Boxes), what is the actual story behind the game? We all know that it is a loose translation of the famous epic poem The Divine Comedy. You know, the first "mapping" of Hell and in turn leading to a man's persecution, but what is the actual story trying to be told in this throw at the poem? Well our friends over at GameTrailers, and in turn EA and Visceral, have put together a nice little short clip of why Dante is going to Hell. It also shows off a bit of the game as well as some pretty cool quotes from literature to mix it all well. Read More...

Review: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
by Ben Brody [ Friday, 13th of November 2009 - 03:33 AM ]
As I looked at the massive amount of people at my local GameStop that were in line to pickup MW2, it dawned on me, this is the biggest, most anticipated, and what could be the best selling action game of all time. Over 300 people were standing in the cold for some four hours waiting for the same thing. Many of them planned on calling in sick the next day or skipping out on school just to get some playtime in. Many people were reminiscing about COD4 or saying how they played a bunch of COD4 to get psyched up about MW2. Read More...

The Microsoft BanHammer
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 12th of November 2009 - 12:21 PM ]
Microsoft announced yesterday that they have banned a very large number (rumored to be up to 1 million) Xbox Live player accounts for modding their Xbox systems and playing pirated games. With the current release of Modern Warfare 2, players are anxiously trying to get online and fragging their friends but it seems Microsoft has other plans.  Microsoft is citing it's terms of service agreement that players agree to when buying an xbox system:Download or use any material sent or provided by another user of the Service that you know, or reasonably should know, cannot be legally shared or distributed in such manner (except as expressly permitted by us). What they could and would do were clearly laid out:Microsoft may, among other things: (a) restrict or limit access to the Service; (b) retrieve information from the original Xbox, Xbox 360 console, personal computer, and any connected peripheral device used to log onto the Service as necessary to operate and protect the security of the Service, and to enforce this contract. Dante To Crash The Gates Of Hell Early
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 10th of November 2009 - 11:53 PM ]
So just in case you needed a good intro to your mid-term or final paper on The Divine Comedy, EA and Visceral Games are going to help you out. How? By giving you the events Dante Alighieri had to go through to get into hell so he could make that google map he did. All in Demo form for your chosen system of PS3, XBox, or PSP. Ok, so this won't actually help any of you getting ready for your final stuff in December, but it will give you a nice way to relax after writing said paper. Or a distraction and a good view and feel for the game. Read More...

You Are To Blame For The RE5 Alternative Edition DLC
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 10th of November 2009 - 08:57 PM ]
Just to prove that Capcom listens to it's community members, and that DLC seems to be the "wanted" format of the future, the new edition of Resident Evil 5 Alternative Edition will be just that, DLC. In case you missed the official announcement, this is the edition that comes with Motion Controller support for the PS3 and about two hours of extra gameplay for the title. It was also originally slated to be a hard copy sale and not a downloadable add-on. When they stated it was going to be a whole new set of discs, this cause some upset for people who have already picked up the game at $60 or $90 and purchased the $5 add-on. Read More...
