This Week In Gaming 4/21/14 — 4/25/14
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 25th of April 2014 - 09:00 PM ]
A Lot Has Gone On This Week. Here's A Recap Of What We Covered In Gaming. This has been one bipolar week for gaming news hasn't it? Maybe you haven't seen anything yet so you might not know but below is yet another list of what we covered in the world of gaming. It started out slow, then picked up, then dropped off again. The world of gaming all wrapped up with a confirmation of two things; Mad Max is still coming although late and that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will have Carnage as one of the prime villains of the game. Those were the most recent items in this week of gaming but we also got the rumor that there would be a Resident Evil 7 announced as soon as E3 and a whole lot going on in the world of Watch_Dogs. Carnage Is Confirmed For The Amazing Spider-Man 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 25th of April 2014 - 07:00 PM ]
An exclusive trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 shows off one of the best villains in the Spider-Man universe; Carnage. Earlier this month we got a trailer showcasing the villains that will be in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. During said trailer there was a possible glimpse of Carnage which was something of great speculation. It all made sense based on the short scene and how this game is supposed to stay semi-close to the cinematic universe that has been re-cultivated. As the 'exclusive' trailer from MTV for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 shows, it can be confirmed for the game now. Read More...

Avalanche Studios Has Their Magnum Opus In Mad Max
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 25th of April 2014 - 05:00 PM ]
A new game trailer for Mad Max has been released showing off the amazing vehicle of the game; the Magnum Opus. One could have had a baby in the time it has been since we last got a video look at Mad Max from Avalanche Studios and Warner Bros. That isn't too much of an exaggeration either. In fact it had been so long that recently I began to question if Mad Max was still being worked on or if it had been canned quietly so as not to have everyone asking 'Why?'. It looked amazing when I first saw it at E3 2013 and it looked like the dev team was well on the way to having a finished product soon. Read More...

Skylanders Trap Team Introduces Another Way To Collect The Toys
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 24th of April 2014 - 09:00 PM ]
Activision has announced Skylanders Trap Team which will allow you to collect the various villains as well as heroes. If there is one franchise that I know is a cash cow it is the Skylanders franchise from Activision and Toys For Bob. That cash cow is going to get a whole lot larger with the addition of Skylanders Trap Team this October 5th as we will get a slew of new heroes and a way to collect and play various villains. Yep, we are going to be able to start collecting the villains, including Kaos, but there is a catch. Pardon the pun. Read More...

Check Out The New Evolve Trailer That Lets You Choose Your Vantage Point
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 24th of April 2014 - 05:00 PM ]
A new trailer/gameplay video for Evolve has been released and it lets you choose the character you watch in the match. That latest trailer for Evolve is completely the way that multiplayer titles should do it. As you have most likely not jumped to the following trailer yet, let me explain. Turtle Rock and 2K have put together a nice nine minute game session for Evolve showing off some of the game's mechanics as well as abilities employed by each of the five different playable characters. The best part is you can hop between each of them to see what they see while running around trying to kill the Goliath or trying to survive and kill the players. As of writing this I have yet to see the match through each character's eyes but I have watched the commentated version of the Evolve match and I can be colored impressed for this multiplayer titles. by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 23rd of April 2014 - 09:00 PM ]
Bungie has updated the official site for Destiny with some new information and video of three of the game's classes. For all of you out there pining for some more news or updates on Destiny from Bungie and Activision, it looks like we are getting just that. In this instance it is in the form of three of the character classes that will be in the game when it finally launches. There is a nice brief description for the Hunter, Titan, and Warlock as well as nice little video to go along with said description. Not that there hasn't been a load of gameplay video for Destiny but here is a bit more geared toward those aforementioned classes. Read More...

Review: Star Pod
by Dakota B. Johnson [ Tuesday, 22nd of April 2014 - 09:00 PM ]
We Sit Down And Review Star Pod a challenging HTML5 Game from Playdor. Star Pod is a game by Playdor. It is a simple, yet challenging HTML5 game made in Construct 2 whose first ten levels have been released. The game is only available in a pre-release version. From what I have gathered you control a small UFO that must navigate the 2D levels collecting little gold rings. Starting from one platform and finishing on another. As with any game the first few levels are pretty easy. Read More...

Rumor Mill: Resident Evil 7 May Be Announced At E3 2014
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 21st of April 2014 - 09:00 PM ]
An article on a prominent Japanese economic newspaper suggests that we should see a Resident Evil 7 announcement at E3. Yet another item I want to mark under extremely hopeful; Resident Evil 7 could be officially announced as soon as this June. You can read that as "At E3 2014" if the current rumors end up being true and not just economical speculation. It would seem that a Japanese newspaper has made just that speculation for us to sit and pine over. This is all based on the mention of a next-gen console and the popularity of the Resident Evil franchise. Read More...

This Week In Gaming 4/14/14 — 4/18/14
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 18th of April 2014 - 11:00 PM ]
A Lot Has Gone On This Week. Here's A Recap Of What We Covered In Gaming. In the wake of PAX East it is no surprise that there was a lack of any new news in the gaming world. We have been able to scrape a bit on Batman: Arkham Knight and Alien Isolation but it has really been the smaller independent titles and hands on that have kept thing flowing here. We also had a few new game announcements, rumors, studio layoffs, and a review mixed in but I think the newer Economic PC Gaming tutorial build have had to have been one of the shining lights here. Just in case you don't know what that is, we now have a running tutorial on how to build your own gaming PC on a budget. Read More...

Review: The Wolf Among Us - Episode Three
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 18th of April 2014 - 09:00 PM ]
We Sit Down And Review The Wolf Among Us - Episode Three. It's been a while since we picked up with Bigby and crew so let's see if the wait was worth it. It looks like everything is back on track for The Wolf Among Us in terms of release windows. No waiting around for a few months to get the new episode as we got episode three in quite a timely manner. The only question is, does A Crooked Mile expand on the game's world and mechanics or just let us down again? Sit right back and I'll tell you the tale of my experience with The Wolf Among Us episode three. Read More...

New Screen Shots For The Evil Within Shows Us Water Monsters
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 17th of April 2014 - 10:00 PM ]
A few new screen shots for The Evil Within have popped up on the internet. This time showing off a new monster type. We may not have more news for The Evil Within but we do have a few new screen shots for the game. I wish I had more given all of the bad "previews" that have been abound the internet from the other sites that require payment to give good news; but I don't. Instead just these four new shots that kind of show off a bit of the atmosphere and enemies in the game. At least both are perceived to be enemies and there is nothing more than the huge fanged monster roaring Sebastian and the other is Boxman. Read More...

Creating The Authentic Alien Universe For Alien Isolation
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 17th of April 2014 - 07:00 PM ]
A new developer diary for Alien Isolation has been released showing the care in creating the 70's Sci-Fi in a modern age. Let's mark this new developer diary for Alien Isolation a step in the right direction. At least in my book. Sega and Creative Assembly have just released a new dev diary showcasing how they are trying to stay true to the original limitations that the Alien films had for Alien Isolation. It is always funny to look back at older films and see how under advanced the future is supposed to be due to the real world tech at the times. For instance, Alien is supposed to be set around 2119 yet there are no crazy holograms or AR displays due to the limitations of the tech in the 70's. Read More...

by Andrew "Irradiccus" Franks [ Monday, 14th of April 2014 - 07:00 PM ]

An artist can always use his bleakest moment to shine, they can take the pain, the agony, distraught even the misery they accumulate then create their unique masterpiece with blood, sweat and tears. From The People Who Brought You Guacamelee!… Here's Severed
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 14th of April 2014 - 05:00 PM ]
DrinkBox Studios has announced there next title, Severed, and we have a trailer. When I hear the name Severed for a game title I automatically think survival horror or something alike. DrinkBox Studios apparently has a different idea with a FPS gesture based fantasy game. Quite a different stretch given the title but I was a huge fan of Guacamelee! that I will be willing to give it chance given my odd expectations. In fact, let us take a look at the first trailer for Severed and see how it is looking and how the gameplay will pan out a bit. Read More...
