Event-Ghosts-of-Aliens
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 28th of July 2008 - 06:17 PM ]
More On Dead Space I will apologize now if my next few news articles come straight out of Comic-Con 2008 or tie ins. I was way to busy to keep things up to date while I was there, but I will do my best to get it all out there in my personal Blogs and here as well. That aside... This is some new stuff I caught on this very much hyped game from EA. They had a spectacular booth and panel for this game. With a dude in the full on armor shown in the trailers. Read More...

Guilty Gear 2: Overture
by Taylor Rose [ Wednesday, 23rd of July 2008 - 03:41 AM ]
Guilty Gear has always been one of my favorite series of fighter games because it greatly impairs our oh-so-beloved button mashers from pwning ass. Take Soul Calibur II for instance: when playing as Rafael, by repeatedly pushing one button, Rafael will rapidly flail his sabre, often leaving the other player no chance to retaliate. The control structure in Guilty Gear is so brilliant because rapidly pushing the punch or kick button won't get you very far: special combos are based mainly on the combination of buttons and quarter or half turns with the joystick or directional pad. It has so far proven to be a very difficult game to master - but isn't that what one looks for? Read More...

Microsoft Opening XBL For Users To Create Own Games
by Michael Camacho [ Tuesday, 22nd of July 2008 - 10:46 PM ]
Think you have what it takes to build your own game for Xbox Live, and can do better than what is out there now?  Well now you can, as Microsoft has announced that XNA Game Studio software will be made available to gamers who yearn to create their own video games.  Micorsoft already had a trial run of the XNA Creators Club games earlier this year which featured "Little Gamers", "Culture", "Jellycar", "The Dishwasher" and others.  MS has plans to introduce the XBox Live Community Games this holiday season to XBL Marketplace. Microsoft unveiled in their plan that you will be able to have your games added to the XBL Marketplace, for a price of 200 to 800 points, after passing a peer review, as well as take home a cut of the total revenue the game makes, which MS claims to be up to 70% in a form of a quarterly check. Dead Will Be Rising On The Wii
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 16th of July 2008 - 05:14 PM ]
Dead Rising Ports To The Wii Yes, you read that right. Well at least that is what I have been able to gather from a very broken translation of the Japanese magazine Famitsu. So if you were still waffling on buying an XBox to get this game, it will be out on the Wii. Should be good news for some people who will remain nameless, but they are on this site. Hopefully it will do as well as RE4 did when it ported over as well. Go Capcom. Read More...

New Dead Space Trailer Advises Strategic Dismemberment So let me guess. You saw that title and thought "WTF? I gotta check this out." I know that's what I did when I first saw this. Well maybe not exactly, but I was not let down with what I got from clicking the link and watching the video. So what is this? It is a show of the game Dead Space, a little bit. Read More...

Relationship between violent videogames and real-life aggression
by Aaron BlueWolf72 Molloy [ Wednesday, 21st of May 2008 - 05:15 AM ]
A new study seems to show that there is no relationship between violent videogames and real-life aggression. From ScienceDaily: Writing May 14 in the International Journal of Liability and Scientific Enquiry, Patrick Kierkegaard of the University of Essex, England, suggests that there is scant scientific evidence that video games are anything but harmless and that they do not lead to real world aggression. Moreover, his research shows that previous work is biased towards the opposite conclusion. Read More...

New TF2 achievements - Fair or Foe?
by Stephanie Naboshek [ Monday, 5th of May 2008 - 11:12 PM ]
With the upgrades to Medic and the introduction to the new achievement system in TF2 - The Medic has been the first class to receive the honor of earning achievements and upgrades. However, have the developers given the medic too much power? If you've been playing some TF2 lately, odds are you've noticed an increase in the amount of medics playing, players uber-charged and people just not dying. Although the new upgrades have helped to turn the game play up a notch - I've began to notice that like with many games, players have found a loop hole in the system and it seems practically impossibly to kill a freaking medic!  Double Uber - when two medic uber-charge themselves - is by far one of the most frustrating things I've come to witness.
