Mini Review: Dante's Inferno: Dark Forest
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 24th of March 2010 - 05:40 PM ]
Just under a month since Dante's Inferno brought hellfire and brimstone to homes around the world, comes the prequel for the overall story of the main game, Dark Forest. A nice, albeit short, addition to the story of Dante's Inferno. Not to mention a few more puzzles and a"new" demon for Dante to slay to try and save Beatrice before she is killed. Which we all know isn't going to happen. In any instance, let me break this down into the two main parts this DLC adds to the game. Read More...

Warner Bros. Will Soon Be Bringing Batman To You
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 23rd of February 2010 - 10:37 PM ]
Batman has been a staple of the Warner Bros. company for a very long time. Live action films, animated series, and a few games have been brought to us from Warner directly in the past. Now it looks like that is going to change here real soon. Especially with the most recent new franchise, Arkham Asylum. A game originally handed out to another company, Rocksteady, to design, code and build. Which they did to an extent that it won a load of awards and shipped over three million copies. Read More...

Darksiding With A Demo
by Kevin [ Wednesday, 17th of February 2010 - 03:02 PM ]
Darksiders, a game that seemed to have trouble finding a general consensus at first, but did manage several very positive reviews is bringing a 90-minute demo to the PlayStation 3 and XBox 360 on Feb. 25th. The demo will have the Twilight Cathedral level and will include some of the puzzles that have divided the gaming crowd as well as some equipment to find and even a couple of boss battles. Though the game has already shipped a million units, will a demo bring more gamers to the table ready to take on the mantle of War? Time will tell next week when the demo drops. Read More...

Dark Void Demo Impressions
by Kevin [ Thursday, 7th of January 2010 - 01:24 PM ]
The sci-fi action-adventure Dark Void demo has dropped today for the Xbox 360 and will be following on the PSN tomorrow. With the demo you get the chance to take that jetpack for a spin, and engage in some aerial and on-foot combat. It is supposed to serve to wet the appetite for the games' January 19th release date. With some unique gameplay elements like vertical cover, I've been looking forward to taking this title for a test drive. The press release speaks with some glowing words of course, "With the launch of Capcom’s sci-fi shooter, Dark Void, right around the corner, Capcom is giving gamers a chance to test drive the void for themselves this week with a downloadable demo coming to Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network. Q&A with Vigil Games on Darksiders
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 10th of December 2009 - 02:50 PM ]
Only weeks away from the highly anticipated launch, Darksiders is a post-apocalyptic action-adventure that puts you in the shoes of one of the famed Four Horsemen.  Light and fluffy, I know, but after a couple years since its announcement, Vigil Games has positioned themselves and the game in a very advantageous position in the dawn of the upcoming year.  Also not hurting is the fact that the game looks to be shaping up like it's going to blow your mind.Haydn Dalton, lead designer of the game at Vigil, took a few moments to answer some of the burning questions surrounding the game. by Binh Nguyen [ Saturday, 5th of December 2009 - 09:00 PM ]
We all know that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 took away dedicated servers from PC gamers. This is not the case for Shattered Horizon. On December 4th, 2009 Futuremark Games Studio finally allows for a dedicated server for Shattered Horizon, a multiplayer first-person shooter played in zero gravity. At least PC gamers will be able to choose how they want to play Shattered Horizon and who they want to play with. Players will be getting greater protection from cheats, hackers and griefers. Review: Dragon Age: Origins
by Michael Camacho [ Sunday, 15th of November 2009 - 04:00 PM ]
Dragon Age: Origins is the latest RPG to come from the well respected developer, Bioware. They have long been known for their deep stories, engrossing characters, and way of involving the player in the game by forcing one to make difficult decisions that affect everything around them. So anyone picking up Dragon Age knows what to expect for the most part, and will not be disappointed. Dragon Age: Origins is a dark fantasy game set in a land, known as Ferelden, where the Blight is at hand, and Darkspawn are quickly taking over. You begin the game as your choice of race and class, and set on your own origin quest. Read More...

by Kevin [ Thursday, 12th of November 2009 - 02:35 AM ]
"Loaded with multi-touch, accelerometer, and 3D graphics, Zune HD makes portable gaming even more exciting. All to the sound of your favorite music. Download free games from our catalog of popular titles like Vans Sk8: Pool Service and Audiosurf Tilt.", says Microsoft's Zune Site. Not one to allow Apple to comfortably situate itself atop the movie gaming market, Microsoft has rolled out some titles for the Zune HD. These titles range from new properties to some existing licenses. One of the advantages right off the bat for the Zune HD as a gaming platform -- and by extension as a mobile device in general -- is that it takes advantage of Microsoft Points. Read More...

What Have You Achieved Before The End Of Days?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 7th of November 2009 - 01:37 PM ]
When dealing with the end of the world and pretty much the end of days, what would you expect your goals to be? Probably get laid one last time. Go on a drunken binge. Maybe even see what it is like to kill a person. Maybe even go looting through treasure chests that you may find around the world while riding a horse for 100 miles. Doesn't that sound about right for the general populace of the world? Well what about the horseman of War? Read More...

Then There Was Mayhem
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 4th of November 2009 - 09:55 PM ]
As I am sure by now you have heard of, seen, and/or played a bit of Darksiders. Either from your favorite news source or at your favorite gaming convention. But what is it really all about? How epic of a tale is going to go along with the game about a fallen horseman? I know I've been curious myself. Well curiosity is sated a bit more with THQ's latest trailer for the game. Nicknamed the Mayhem trailer. Read More...

Batman Goes Totally Insane
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 15th of September 2009 - 03:02 AM ]
There is no denying that Batman: Arkham Asylum is an awesome game. It is what a Batman game should be. I don't think anyone could deny that. At least without getting spammed and flamed on every gaming site out there. I smell attention whoring out there now that I mentioned that. In any instance, the core game didn't end the whole experience for gamers who loved this game. There were the challenge maps after all was said and done. 16 of them for Batman if you completed a good chunk of the Riddle's riddles. Read More...

Review: Darkest of Days
by Binh Nguyen [ Tuesday, 8th of September 2009 - 07:54 PM ]
Time travel is the one thing that we all wish we had in today's world. It would be easy to travel back in time and change a few of the mistakes we have made. Sadly, it is only a reality in movies and video games. While this ability is not totally unfettered in Phantom EFX's newest First Person Shooter, Darkest of Days, you do get to travel back in time and see some of history's more iconic eras and famous battles. The difference between this and other time travel games is that you actually have the opportunity to change the outcome of some of these events and battles. The Characters: You used to be Alex Morris, a recently transferred solider under the command of General Custer. Read More...

Review: Batman: Arkham Asylum
by Jesse [ Monday, 31st of August 2009 - 07:17 PM ]
If I’m not mistaken, Batman: Arkham Asylum is the twenty-first video game centered around the Dark Knight. Going all the way back to 1986 and the first game, appropriately titled Batman, I’ve only really found a handful of the games that can be considered at the very least decent. The SNES version of Batman Returns was great as a typical side-scrolling brawling game and of course more recently there was last year’s Lego Batman which was good for a laugh or two. However nothing really captured the spirit of the character, let alone his environment and for the games that tried, they failed miserably. But Batman is one of those characters that people are willing to take a chance on. Read More...
