So we were all promised a big announcement from Square Enix about Final Fantasy XIII today (11/13/09). I'm sure we all figured it would drop out to us sometime later in the day. As I looked at the massive amount of people at my local GameStop that were in line to pickup MW2, it dawned on me, this is the biggest, most anticipated, and what could be the best selling action game of all time. Over 300 people were standing in the cold for some four hours waiting for the same thing. Many of them planned on calling in sick the next day or skipping out on school just to get some playtime in. There's no real way to hide from a collector's edition. Every game is going to have one, and if you disagree - it's only because you have yet to find it. Mark my words.This edition is supposed to be limited in quantities, though I would wager that there will somehow be more copies trickling in after the initial rush. The fun'o'plenty pack is going to have a tin case, a hard cover "Art of Mass Effect 2" book, an issue from the Mass Effect Redemption comic and a behind-the-scenes DVD. The bad gets worse. PC gamers have often been on the short end of the stick on gaming for awhile now except for one thing: Multiplayer. Mods, dedicated servers, better clan support, and VOIP programs like Ventrilo and Teamspeak usually make the PC multiplayer experience better than their console counterparts. Magic: The Gathering has been around since 1993, and converting the card game into a video game has been going on since 1997 with its first title Magic: The Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalker for the PC. Well we will be getting another Magic: The Gathering game with Wizard of the Coast and Sony Online Entertainment teaming up to develop Magic: The Gathering – Tatics. John Smedley, President of Sony Online Entertainment recently said, “By collaborating with Wizards of the Coast, we're able to combine the strengths of both companies to develop an innovative, online, 3D game based on an extremely popular IP. And here we go again, the General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) put a hold onto NetEase's request for World of Warcraft to be approved in China. This has been an ongoing battle for some time now. The9's license agreement with blizzard expired this year and was won by NetEase in April of this year. NetEase had a three year agreement for World of Warcraft only to have there application "passed up" due to "violating the rules". When I looked at the list of downloadable content this week for Nintendo, I was shocked to see eight titles listed for the three "platforms" available. For so long, the Big 'N' was releasing one title a week on each platform: WiiWare, DSiWare and Virtual Console. Many people, including myself, asked why Nintendo was holding back, especially in light of the fact that first party titles haven't exactly been busting down retail doors in a short period of time.
