Well, not that much that we have not seen or heard from E3 will answer that question. It makes sense that Batman: Arkham Origins would be on display at the San Diego Comic Con but you would think that there would be some kind of information dump that wasn't handed out a month prior. All of the details leading up to now surrounding Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag have been pretty spectacular. If ever there was a title that would make me actually purchase a WiiU, Bayonetta 2 would be that title. After getting to toil around with the latest build of the game, it makes me sad that I will most likely have to wait some time to actually get to play it proper. But that is me and the tens of WiiU owners out there; here is a little more information on why you should be picking up the game next year and why all of the non-WiiU owners will be jealous. This was my first time playing a real game with the WiiU controller and I was a bit worried as all of the tech/non-tech demos I've played were designed specifically with the controller in mind. I have been filled with all kinds of mixed emotions since the announcement of Batman: Arkham Origins. I am a huge fan of the franchise and storyline of the game's world. I am not a fan of most prequels and unfortunately Arkham Origins falls into the prequel world. Usually prequels just feel like the developers wanted to do another title in the franchise but have been written into a corner or need to find a reason to explain why the protagonist is weaker compared to where fans left them. Fortunately for myself, I was granted access to the elusive "behind doors playable demo" of E3 and had a chance to play around with the younger version of Batman. Yesterday we got a look at what Konami and its developers are bringing to E3. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 being one of the larger titles talked about and shown off. Amongst all the PR hype and a dumb looking Mega64 parody we got a nice 6 minute trailer showing the game in action. Even though we are still days out from E3 week, Konami has taken it upon themselves to "go first" with the showcase of what they have coming in the next year. This isn't anything new for Konami and will probably stay the same for the coming years. The entire "event" went live at 10 am PST and as of this posting just about ended, but we have it in its entirety in case the real world had you pulled away from you computers. Last week we got a pretty lackluster "teaser" for the upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins title still in the works at Warner Bros. Games Montreal. Granted it came along with a short time span before we were supposed to get a full trailer for the game. The wait is now over and the trailer has been released in its full five minute version. Unfortunately, it doesn't do much in the way of showing the actual game nor does it do much more than show a beautifully fully rendered fight scene. I was insanely excited to go to the Wizards of the Coast Booth at PAX East this year. Last year I skipped it because I thought they were only showing off expansions for Magic: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012. With the success of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, most of us figured there was going to be a new Batman game coming. Lo and behold, just announced by Warner Bros., we have Batman: Arkham Origins to look forward to this coming October. Not only that, but there is also a handheld side kick that has just been announced for the Vita and 3DS; Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. Big news in the world of witty cross-over card game simulators. Telltale Games has recently announced that Poker Night at the Inventory is getting a sequel. According to the Telltale's website, “Poker Night 2 is the unnecessary sequel to Poker Night at the Inventory! In the original game you played poker with a bunch of weirdoes for fame and fortune Team Fortress 2 items and the satisfaction of beating the odds.” The original game had you playing against Max from Sam&Max, Strong Bad from Homestar Runner, The Heavy from Team Fortress 2, and Tycho from Penny Arcade. Earlier this month we had the official announcement of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag with not much to go on other than the time period of the story and the culture it is based around. During the reign of Blackbeard and pirates for those who are just now following along. No matter which you are, we now have a bit of game play from Black Flag and it looks like Ubisoft is trying to focus on the naval combat that debuted back in ACIII not so very long ago. It also looks like we will get to punch sharks in the gills during underwater scenes of the game, so there is also that. I'll be honest; I have yet to actually play AC III nor any of the 'spin off' titles that launched alongside so I have no clue how well or poorly this new mechanic actually handled in the games. Last week I had the pleasure of snagging WildStar's Senior 3D Artist, Stephan Williams, for an interview and demo of Carbine Studio's and NC Soft's upcoming MMORPG. Although he was not able to answer every question we sure hounded him for a solid twenty minutes or so. I was joined with two special guests, TJ Jensen and Erik Gmitter. Together we were blown away by the amazing graphics, animations, and features that they had to show off in the PAX East demo. It has been made official; Assassin's Creed IV is coming just about a year after AC3 has landed. It was originally rumored with the below trailer teasing it last week, but since the cat was let out of the bag it looks like Ubisoft isn't keeping it hidden any more. The video is now to be considered the official announcement of AC4 along with the release date of November 1st 2013. That adds another title to the PS4's launch lineup it would seem.
