MGC Rolls Big In Vegas
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 25th of May 2010 - 10:41 PM ]
Over the last weekend, AggroGamer had the pleasure of heading out to the most recent Midnight Gaming Championship event held in Las Vegas, NV. It was full of fun, sun and most importantly gaming. Which of course also means gamers in the wild. Those said gamers also mixed into the wild world of street racing. An interesting hybrid of humanity if you ask me. In any instance, the big draw was the competitions held by MGC. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 12th of May 2010 - 04:46 PM ]
Just when you thought it was safe for us to poke our heads out and not hear about some new legal action taking place between video game companies, (Activision and Infinity Ward I'm looking at you) a new one hits. Not between those two though, but between a couple smaller companies, Petroglyph Games and True Games. Before you ask, no it is not about who gets to keep "Games" in their title. It is about their joint venture on the MMORTS Mytheon. Read More...

Review: Wii ElectroFlow Inductive Charger
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 26th of October 2009 - 03:09 PM ]
Since the Wii has come to market and the need for keeping those WiiMotes charged and useable has been a concern for hardcore gamers. So then the rechargeable AA batteries got pulled back out and WiiMote specific chargers began to get pumped onto the scene. Some were good. Some just horrid. But they all kept things working as long as it was just the WiiMote you had and nothing else. Not even the gel jacket to protect TV's around the world. These chargers were workable as long as you didn't care taking the extra time to slide out and disassemble everything to charge the batteries or swap in new ones. Read More...

Ahhh, the soothing sounds of a hype train pulling into the station. With two weeks remaining until the release of Band Hero, Activision has now finally released the final set list for the game. On top of that, they divulged methods and pricing for importing the tracks from Band Hero to Guitar Hero 5 and vice versa. As far as the song listing goes, you will utter "Sweet Song!" as many times as you say "Huh? Read More...

Aggrocast Episode Forty Four: Launches, Lawsuits and Laughter
by Michael Camacho [ Sunday, 11th of October 2009 - 06:47 PM ]
Episode 44 of the Aggrocast has landed and unfortunately for the crew, we have had some busy weeks lately. This has resulted in too few games being played. We do talk about the few we got our hands on, including Halo 3 ODST, Beatles Rock Band, Aion and more. We also bring you some interesting topics this week. We go over the PSP Go launch and Binh discusses his hands on with his launch day system. The possibility looms that I bought one as well, but refuse to say if I did or not. Read More...

Activision Releases More Track Lists for Band Hero
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 1st of October 2009 - 07:47 PM ]
There comes a time when you realize there are certain products are just not for your demographic anymore. Maybe it was when you were hitting puberty and realized that while you may still like Saturday morning cartoons, the commercials annoyed you rather than interested. Or perhaps you tried to watch The Tonight Show before Jay Leno was replaced and realized every joke was for the geriatric crowd. Reading today's press release from Activision really demonstrated to me that while I may enjoy rhythm games, Band Hero is not being marketed to me. Band Hero is the long lost love child of Guitar Hero: World Tour and High School Musical. Read More...

Day 1 of Guitar Hero: Love Watch ...or is it day 2?
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 10th of September 2009 - 09:41 PM ]
No doubt you have read the "shocking" details of Courtney Love's acrid Twitter response to Kurt Cobain's likeness being used in Guitar Hero 5. Then, you were enthralled by the report of shots fired back by Activision that Love, in fact, was the individual who signed the contract to use the likeness. And THEN you no doubt realized...you don't care. Read More...

Review: Guitar Hero 5
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 1st of September 2009 - 11:25 AM ]
So another one is out. I won't bother you with what Guitar Hero is, nor will I bore you with details about how the game is played, or whether it plays well. Yes, it plays well, and yes, it is same as it always has been, press the note on the bars then strum when the according color passes the bar. However, there are some new additions that make Guitar Hero 5 the best Guitar Hero yet. Party play is long overdue, and something that was almost added into Rock Band 1. Party play is just that, a mode for a party. Read More...

Kurt Cobain To Posthumously Play Guitar Hero 5
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 28th of August 2009 - 04:33 PM ]
Grunge and flannel: they go together like consoles&fanboys. Defining an entire decade of rock, grunge started the trend to move away from synth-pop, popular in the 80's, to a harder sound that emphasized the angst building in rebellion to 80's preppy style and trickle down economics. The earthier sounds and personalities of the grunge scene felt like you were watching a garage band down the street rather than the huge arenas and corporate heroes of pristine pop music and shiny glam-rock. Nirvana's release of Nevermind and the subsequent momentum shocked and appalled people as much as it enticed and enthralled. Their music was inspiring to a new generation of music listeners on a completely new medium, the Compact Disc. Read More...

Beatles: Rock Band, Guitar Hero 5 Pricing on Wii Setting Bad Precedent
by Brian Bentley [ Sunday, 23rd of August 2009 - 05:07 AM ]
Toys, pack-ins, gimmicks, add-ons and peripherals are all words that are not unknown or unheard of to Nintendo Wii owners’ ears.  Since the console’s launch in 2006, a great many guns zappers, dance pads, microphones, etc., have been bundled with Wii games filling living rooms to capacity -- especially with the onset of rhythm games.  Even Nintendo’s best-selling game, WiiPlay is merely a controller with a $10 tech demo, and there has always been a premium attached to the bundles that have exceeded the normal price point for a Wii game at $49.99. Now Is The Time To Forge Your Legend
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 21st of August 2009 - 05:34 PM ]
Guild Wars 2 Trailer Who wants to see what Guild Wars 2 is going to look like? I know I do. With this new video I thought I was going to be let down a bit. In fact about half way through I started to wonder if there was going to be anything more than just "still frames" (Animatics) with a narration of the goings on in the game world. Being a stubborn person I pushed on with the video to find, indeed there is some good game footage for us to pine over. Some really good footage. Read More...

Let There Be Röck!
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 6th of August 2009 - 11:07 PM ]
Finally some closure. After a very long and grueling process, Activision and Double Fine Studios have come to some even ground and we do not have to worry about Brütal Legend being delayed in all it's rocking glory. According to the Associated Press and the New York Times, the Lawyers for Activision told court officials that they had finally come to a settlement with Double Fine Studios on Wednesday. For a brief recap see my previous article Activision tells EA to Back off The Los Angeles Superior Court spokeswoman said that Activision settled with Double Fine and a hearing, that was supposed to occur this fine Thursday morning, was canceled. What was heard last week was that the Superior Court Judge Craig Karlan had told Activision's lawyers that the request was probably going to get denied and the game was going to get released on time anyways.
