The Phoenix Rises
by Jonathan Dean [ Monday, 6th of August 2012 - 04:49 PM ]
Hello one and all! My name is Jonathan Dean, and I’m thrilled to be one of the newest members of the writing team here at Aggrogamer.com. Let’s see, what is there to know about me? I've been playing games mostly since high school, and as the title suggests, my gamer tag for the Xbox 360 is PhoenixFusion1. I personally prefer games with heavy story and substance, probably due in fact to being a fiction writer and movie buff. I wasn't introduced to the gaming world until my junior high school years. The Disappearance Of Single Player
by Greg Tatterfield [ Wednesday, 1st of August 2012 - 09:49 PM ]
Remember the time when you placed a new game in your game console and you could expect an epic and memorable single player experience? I am among those gamers who remember having that full-blown experience with every new game that graced my console. As an old school gamer that owned all the major systems since the 90s I see a disturbing trend that could spell trouble for fans of single player games. The problem is that single player seems to be becoming extinct. It’s no secret that online multiplayer has became exceptionally popular among the current generation of gamers. Read More...

Greetings ladies and gentlemen of the community. My name is Todd Naevestad and I am the newest member of AggroGamer's writing team. This little article is to tell you a little about myself. Let's get right to it. I am a student still, entering my junior year. I am training in professional writing. I have a love for words and telling stories. In the future, I hope to work for a place like BioWare or Bethesda, maybe a place like Wizards of the Coast. I want to work in games of all kinds. Read More...

Two More Characters Announced For Injustice: Gods Among Us
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 23rd of July 2012 - 10:07 PM ]
So not only is there a new game play trailer for Injustice: Gods Among Us, but there are also two new characters announced for the game. Nightwing and Cyborg are those characters just to get the ball started here. Here's another set of characters that will be interesting to see in the game but not as unexpected as Solomon Grundy as mentioned in a previous article. Cool none the less. What I do find a bit more fun in the game play below is the showcasing of what looks like "fatality" style moves being performed. Read More...

Aggrocast Episode One Hundred: The Epic Reunion
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 15th of June 2012 - 04:23 PM ]
This is it. The episode you've all been waiting for - number 100. I bring in a bunch of new and old friends to podcast together. We talk video games, last week's E3 and reminisce the humble beginnings of Aggrogamer and the Aggrocast. The first half of the show has regular characters Matt and Corey, as well as Aggrogamer's own Chief Editor, fresh from E3 2012, David Becker. I'm sure you'll be as surprised as I was to hear Matt with a static free microphone. We hit up a lot of topics, but chief among them is the recent hullabaloo over the "attempted rape" scene in Tomb Raider The second half of the show is a little lighter and full of nostalgia as I bring the band back together. E3 2012 Hands On: God Of War: Ascension - Multiplayer
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 13th of June 2012 - 08:51 PM ]
Well here is one of the big games I was looking forward to seeing at E3 this year, God Of War: Ascension. Not just because it is another title for one of my favorite franchises, but because this time around Sony Santa Monica is adding in something I never would have thought would be in a God Of War title. That is Multiplayer for those of you who skipped reading the title. I have included the video and screens of the single player game play that was available at E3, but let's be honest there really isn't much they can change to the game's winning single player. Aggrocast Episode Ninety Nine: E3 2012 Day Zero Recap
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 6th of June 2012 - 12:53 AM ]
The Electronic Entertainment Expo has descended for 2012. Day Zero brings Press Conferences galore with Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft and Sony all taking their respective stages. Brian, Corey and Matt sat down directly after the Sony presser to talk over the days activities. Before getting into the meat of E3, Brian shines the Community Spotlight on Epic Games and the incredible outreach they did for the misplaced veterans of Big Huge Games. Then, it's time for the bread and butter of E3: press conferences. The guys discuss what they saw and break down what they loved, what they were disappointed by and what surprised them in the short 10-plus hours prior provided by the industry. Read More...

Aggrocast Episode Ninety Eight .1: Tangent on Games - More Like TangRant
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 4th of June 2012 - 10:21 PM ]
It is absolutely true that Episode 98 got out of hand. I split it into the meat of talk about E3 and then the rest is in here. It's almost pure rant. Listen to Corey going off on what he thinks the industry thinks makes a successful game (hint: don't assume you'll understand him right away, Matt and I thought he was talking about something completely different at that time. Hear how incredulous Matt and I get.  Comment with your thoughts below in the show notes. Read More...

Looks Like We Get Those 'What If?' Fights With Injustice: Gods Among Us
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 1st of June 2012 - 10:22 PM ]
As a kid, or even nowadays, it's always fun to hypothesize who would win in a fight between Harley Quinn and Solomon Grundy. You had/have those thoughts don't you? They usually end in hour long discussions and arguments amongst friends, at least that is how it goes in my circles. But anyways, it looks like NetherRealm is going to be helping up finish these arguments with Injustice: Gods Amongst Us. How is that? Well it's a fighting game that will let you pit a whole slew of the heroes and villains of the DC Universe against each other in "mortal combat. Read More...

Aggrocast Episode Ninety Eight: Pre-E3 2012 Expectations
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 1st of June 2012 - 04:44 PM ]
It's that time again. The Electronic Entertainment Expo is looming and that means it's time for Matt, Corey and Brian to drop the gloves and pontificate the possibilities of what will happen next week at E3. The list of games the guys go over is too long to write out here...much like the podcast itself. It goes so long in fact, we had to break it up into two chunks. The bulk of it is here in Episode 98, but keep an eye here on Aggrogamer for a special bonus podcast of what happens when the discussion really heats up. Read More...

Aggrocast Episode Ninety Seven: A Blizzard in Hell
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 17th of May 2012 - 06:00 PM ]
After two hand surgeries, Brian - more importantly, the Aggrocast - is back at full strength. Corey and Matt join Brian for a podcast talking about the great clickfest that is Diablo III. The guys also touch on Bioware/EA's woes with Star Wars: The Old Republic, 38 Studios going into loan default, as well as the various court cases swirling around the industry at this time. Without the law books on the table, the guys also touch on what they've been playing including Wet, Bulletstorm, Witcher 2, Torchlight 2 beta and some game called Diablo III. The best news for Corey came when Brian sprung a short Care/Don't Care on the show. Read More...

Diablocast Episode 1: The Beginning
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 16th of May 2012 - 04:17 PM ]
Corey and Brian have at it in this first episode of the Diablocast. Another spoilerific venture from Aggrogamer.com, the Diablocast is 60 minutes of back and forth between "The Blizzard Fanboy" (aka Corey) and "The Diablo's Advocate" (aka Brian) on all things Diablo III. Basically, this episode spawned from a discussion between the two guys that began over text message that just happened to spill into a podcast. Sit back, enjoy and leave all your comments in the show notes below or email us at bbentley@aggrogamer.com. Read More...

Multiplayer In My God Of War. Say What?!?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 4th of May 2012 - 10:12 PM ]
When it was first announced that God Of War: Ascension was going to be a prequel I was iffy and questioned the choice. Now it has been revealed during a press viewing that there is going to be that Multiplayer teased and rumored since GoW3. Yea, that's right. In a game that is pretty much designed from the start as a single player story driven game we are getting some multiplayer added on as well. I guess before we get all up in arms about this, let's take a look at what is planned. First, and I think the best, is that the core team for Single Player was not tapped for the multiplayer addition to the game. Read More...

Matt, Corey and Brian are at it again for another rousing episode of the Aggrocast. The guys touch on a myriad of topics this episode ranging from Lollipop Chainsaw to Double Dragon Neon to the next installment of God of War. Matt does a tell-all on his experiences at PAX East, including his kinect-winning performance. There is also plenty of talk about the recently released technical specifications for the PC version of Max Payne 3. We also talk about their latest adventures in gaming - including World of Warcraft, Hero Academy, Dante's Inferno, Mass Effect 3 and Witcher 2. Read More...
