Now I was not a big fan of Final Fantasy XI. Maybe it was the grind. Maybe it was the lack of people that I like to play with. Maybe it was the lower end graphics for the game. At least lower end to my high standards. Yes I am a graphics prima donna now. I have been spoiled by the "next gen" consoles and higher end PC graphics for too long. When I first heard about Nier from Square-Enix, I was intrigued. I wondered at what new type of games we could expect from the Final Fantasy giant. Maybe a new franchise or something the like. Which from the below gameplay trailer, I am a bit let down on the hopes of seeing anything truly new and innovative. Then again, I could be pleasantly surprised in the not to distant future, but from the following I doubt it will change greatly before April 22nd when Nier launches. Yes you read the headline correctly, Final Fantasy I and II are both coming to the iPhone! With the movement for Mobile devices becoming a gaming force to be reckoned with, we are seeing the larger games quickly making their way into our hot little hands. Square Enix announced on it's Facebook page as well as on Twitter that it would be releasing the first two Final Fantasy titles for the iPhone and iPod Touch. There are practically no details regarding the game, but all we know so far is it's "Coming Soon" but with the below screen shots, it doesn't look like we are too far off. Don't Panic! I've always wanted to start off with that. But as it says, don't panic. There has not been an announcement of a delay, set back or some other event to hindering Final Fantasy XIII from dropping on time. It is just a reference from the new trailer below. For once the characters of the story actually see how everything is happening in a string of bad luck. Now, if only they could reference the horrible voice acting that seems to be plaguing this new trailer. Well, the beta test application site for Final Fantasy XIV has opened up, and while the beta may only be for the PC, it is a great chance for those interested to poke around in what could be a fantastic MMO experience. For the curious, the requirements are: Be at least 18 years of age Possess a Square Enix ID account (Register for a Square Enix ID account here, if you don't have one already) Possess an internet connection Be capable of downloading large amounts of data Be capable of submitting bug reports in either Japanese, English, French, or German Like any other beta test, there will be several waves and opportunities to enter the beta so don't be discouraged if you don't make it in initially. For those looking for the PS3 experience, it seems that will be revealed "at a later date." Despite that, 2010 is going to be the year for this game's release, and I, for one, am excited. Dragon Age: Origins is the latest RPG to come from the well respected developer, Bioware. So we were all promised a big announcement from Square Enix about Final Fantasy XIII today (11/13/09). I'm sure we all figured it would drop out to us sometime later in the day. Like near the close of the day. But surprise surprise, look what we all get to look at early from Square Enix. A "developer" diary of sorts showcasing some of the action and events from the game. With the launch of the Japanese version of Final Fantasy XIII coming up here in a little over a month, we should all get ready for the onslaught of spoilers, videos, and screen shots.
