Let's Look At Jigsaw's Drawing Board
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 25th of August 2010 - 05:51 PM ]
Where does he get all those wonderful toys? Oh wait wrong franchise for that quote. But it still kind of fits for Jigsaw in the Saw film and video game franchises. Doesn't it? For those of you that don't know where he gets them let me spoil it for you. He makes them himself, unlike Batman. Just like any good builder, be it creative death traps or video game level design, it all has to start somewhere. That somewhere usually blueprints or conceptual art for the ultimate thing to slay audiences minds. Konami is giving us all a look at the genius behind some of these traps, levels and characters in the upcoming Saw II: Flesh and Blood video game. Read More...

Something Positive and Refreshing in Gaming
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 25th of August 2010 - 12:52 PM ]
As they are few and far between, here comes another quasi-positive thing from video gamers that needs to be mentioned. With the video game bill trying to stamp out first amendment rights for games, we all need to look and see what these games can do: like bring groups of young adults together for community service. No, I am not talking community service that is imposed by the penal system. I am talking the kind that is voluntary to show that people still have some kind of kind heart left. Read More...

We Got A Mafia II Developer's Call We Couldn't Refuse
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 24th of August 2010 - 11:40 AM ]
Now that you have seen the videos used to muster up your interest in the game that was eight years in the making - Mafia II - what else do you think the developers would want to tell you about the game? Yea, trailers and clips are fun, but they don't always convey certain things about a game you want to know. Sometimes they don't even truly show how the game is going to look and sound like. Well, we got on the horn with Jack Scalici, Director of Creative Production, and had a few questions answered for you. Read More...

I hope you were not overwhelmed by the last batch of videos we brought to you from Gamescom 2010. There were a whole lot of new videos pumped out into cyberspace as we said before. Therefore, we would bring out even more of those videos posted throughout the convention's entire run. There is also some cool game play from Crysis 2 showing off the multiplayer aspect of the game. Not to mention, we have the two huge announcements from Insomniac Games: Resistance 3 and Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One - all great watches for you. Read More...

Cryptic Studios Announces Neverwinter
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 23rd of August 2010 - 06:06 PM ]
Atari, and Cryptic Studios, the team that brought you City of Heroes, Champions Online and the latest Star Trek Online have announced that they are developing the latest title in the Neverwinter genre for the PC called "Neverwinter." Neverwinter will be an online RPG based on the Wizards of the Coast city of Neverwinter. Once a bustling location, Neverwinter has faced a great many disasters in the past hundred years. Rule of the city remains unclear following the unfortunate demise of the last Lord of Neverwinter and factions still battle for dominance after the all-consuming Spellplague took a high toll on the population. Have you been left out of the loop on the news surrounding Marvel Vs. Capcom 3? Did you know there have been 16 announced characters already? Well more like 18, but more on that below. It would be nice if there was one place to see all the action up until now. Like some kind of montage video of characters and game action. We have just that for you here. Not only that, but two guys that didn't seem to make it into the montage. Read More...

I Can't Live Because Of You NCSoft
by Binh Nguyen [ Saturday, 21st of August 2010 - 11:51 PM ]
Craig Smallwood from Hawaii will soon be a name that will be in gaming news for a while. Why? Wired.com has reported that Craig has filed a lawsuit against NCSoft. What for you may ask? Craig claims that NCSoft “acted negligently in failing to warn or instruct or adequately warn or instruct plaintiff and other players of Lineage II of its dangerous and defective characteristics, and of the safe and proper method of using the game.” Wahhhhh? Craig claimed NCSoft should pay unspecified monetary damages because of how addicting the game is. Read More...

Enslaved Went West To Gamescom And Showed The Goods
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 21st of August 2010 - 08:56 PM ]
Up until now, I have been only mildly interested in Enslaved: Odyssey To The West. It has an okay concept, but the screens, clips and hands-on I have seen or had up until now have done nothing to overly impress me. Please notice how I said "up until now." If you look back, you'll see it in the sentence prior. We were given a really great look at where the game has progressed to so far and it feels and looks like a whole new game to me. I know it isn't literally, but like I said, what I saw before didn't "Wow" me. Read More...

Splatterhouse Goes All Retro Style... In A Good Way
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 21st of August 2010 - 05:48 PM ]
If I have not dropped enough hints yet, let it be explicitly known that I am not a big fan of the "retro" game look in modern times. I see it as a way for companies to milk gamers who don't have a better head on their shoulders so they can pretend to be gaming back when they first started. Gamers put money in the companies' pocket so they may play a game they've very likely played a billion times already. *cough* Golden Eye *cough* So when I heard that the most recent Splatterhouse trailer coming out of Gamescom showed off the retro look of the title, I was a bit pissed and extremely concerned. Thankfully, this lasted only for a few moments before watching the videos and new screen captures below. Read More...

A couple of days ago 2K released two web videos called “The Art of Persuasion” and “Tools Of The Trade” for our viewing pleasure as it gets closer for Mafia II to drop this upcoming Tuesday August 24, 2010. You can certainly learn how to persuade someone if you are watching "The Art of Persuasion." Especially with a baseball bat. How about making yourself useful in "Tools Of The Trade. Read More...

WCG's Ultimate Gamer: Episode 1 Gets Too Catty
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 20th of August 2010 - 08:39 PM ]
It has started up again. WCG's Ultimate Gamer 2 premiered last night on SyFy - bringing the gaming culture to the masses on cable TV. It is somewhat surprising that there was a season two being done considering the lack luster acceptance by the gaming community the last go round, but back it is - for better or worse, depending on your outlook. So with all of that comes the recap for those who missed the show and just want to know. Or for those who don't want to watch, yet want to know the progress. Read More...

Rock Band 3 Inadvertently Smiles for Camera at Gamescom
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 20th of August 2010 - 05:32 PM ]
<UPDATE> So because media outlets got the jump on confirming all the tracks in Rock Band 3 Harmonix decided to come out and "un-officially" confirm the rumors listed below. Way to try to cover up your mess there. But this isn't an announcement no matter how you try to play it. You guys screwed up and this is damage control. Just call it as it is. Source </UPDATE> You would think that in the "YouTube" generation everyone would realize that there are cameras everywhere. Read More...

Two Kombatants Have Entered The Mortal Kombat
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 20th of August 2010 - 01:34 PM ]
It would appear we are in for a long wait to see the rest of the roster for the upcoming Mortal Kombat as it has been about two months since the big reveal at E3 and we are not even over the half way point roster-wise. We are at 12 characters - 10 of which confirmed playable - out of the 28 total and unless the GUI for character selection has changed, 26 of those will be playable . Now if you were a good reader and didn't skip to the images to see who was just shown off, nor if you figured it out from the article image, the two newly announced characters are Cyrax and Kitana. Both pretty much assumed from the beginning, but now completely confirmed. Read More...
