Review: Guitar Hero 5
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 1st of September 2009 - 11:25 AM ]
So another one is out. I won't bother you with what Guitar Hero is, nor will I bore you with details about how the game is played, or whether it plays well. Yes, it plays well, and yes, it is same as it always has been, press the note on the bars then strum when the according color passes the bar. However, there are some new additions that make Guitar Hero 5 the best Guitar Hero yet. Party play is long overdue, and something that was almost added into Rock Band 1. Party play is just that, a mode for a party. Read More...

Kurt Cobain To Posthumously Play Guitar Hero 5
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 28th of August 2009 - 04:33 PM ]
Grunge and flannel: they go together like consoles&fanboys. Defining an entire decade of rock, grunge started the trend to move away from synth-pop, popular in the 80's, to a harder sound that emphasized the angst building in rebellion to 80's preppy style and trickle down economics. The earthier sounds and personalities of the grunge scene felt like you were watching a garage band down the street rather than the huge arenas and corporate heroes of pristine pop music and shiny glam-rock. Nirvana's release of Nevermind and the subsequent momentum shocked and appalled people as much as it enticed and enthralled. Their music was inspiring to a new generation of music listeners on a completely new medium, the Compact Disc. Read More...

Beatles: Rock Band, Guitar Hero 5 Pricing on Wii Setting Bad Precedent
by Brian Bentley [ Sunday, 23rd of August 2009 - 05:07 AM ]
Toys, pack-ins, gimmicks, add-ons and peripherals are all words that are not unknown or unheard of to Nintendo Wii owners’ ears.  Since the console’s launch in 2006, a great many guns zappers, dance pads, microphones, etc., have been bundled with Wii games filling living rooms to capacity -- especially with the onset of rhythm games.  Even Nintendo’s best-selling game, WiiPlay is merely a controller with a $10 tech demo, and there has always been a premium attached to the bundles that have exceeded the normal price point for a Wii game at $49.99. by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 30th of July 2009 - 07:43 PM ]
Official Guitar Hero 5 Track List and Garbage A few weeks back we brought you the official track list before anyone else on the net even could. Or what a lot of people stated to be our "Rumored" track list for Guitar Hero 5. You know who you are if you are reading this. But the official listing has just been released from Activision for the world. Let's compare the two lists and see how close our "Rumored" list came to the official listing. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with them both. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 16th of July 2009 - 04:52 PM ]
Guitar Hero 5 Controllers And Tracks So it is now official. I will have to buy Guitar Hero 5. All because of one of the new tracks released to the public. Rammstein has been in my hopes ever since the I got into the rhythm game genre. Finally someone brought it to fruition. I just wish it was the game that I was backing for a while. I now know what you HD-DVD people felt like with the whole BluRay/HD-DVD war. I should have backed Guitar Hero. Read More...

Guitar Hero 5: The Obscure
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 9th of July 2009 - 03:45 PM ]
First 24 Tracks For Guitar Hero 5 Maybe it's just me and not being totally up on my current music or even my older music, but to me it seems that Activision and Vicarious Visions are going with some of the more obscure songs from artists to drive players to the game. Some of the songs just announced for Guitar Hero 5 just don't ring a bell. Well actually quite a few of them don't. Artists I'm good with, but the selected songs just don't pop to mind. Read More...

Activision Announces Fall Lineup of "Hero"s
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 7th of May 2009 - 03:45 PM ]
More Peripherals!!!!  Yay!  I know that is what you're thinking as today Activision announced their fall releases of "Hero" franchises. Attempting to break into the hip-hop and R&B markets, they will be releasing DJ Hero, coming to you with special turntable peripheral.  No longer content with sticking to plastic instruments, they are moving into plastic electronics.  Couch Potato Hero will of course have plastic TV and remote as you sit on your couch playing a person sitting on a couch.  All kidding aside I really hope to see this at E3 in a few weeks and take it for a spin*. Go Utah??
by Binh Nguyen [ Thursday, 26th of March 2009 - 11:34 AM ]
Well it seems Utah is not as conservative after all. Utah Governor Jon Huntsman (r) has vetoes video games and movie retail restriction bill. To those who don’t know about it, it’s the bill (that was originally written by Jack Thompson and legislator Mike Morle) that would enforce strict penalties on retailers who sells M-Rated games and Rated R movies to “buyers subject to an age restriction or recommendation.”   Utah Governor Jon Huntsman (r) wrote a letter to House Speaker David Clark and Utah Senate President Michael Waddoups about why he vetoed the video game bill: (from Sainless: http://saintless.com/2009/03/25/gov-vetoed-hb-353/)“Dear Speaker Clark and President Waddoups: After careful consideration and study, I have decided to veto HB 353, TRUTH IN ADVERTISING ACT AMENDMENTS, and have transmitted it to the Lieutenant Governor for filing. Resident Evil 5 is coming March 13th here in the US and today we bring you a retrospective of sorts, to get you all caught up to RE5.AS WITH THE PREVIOUS ARTICLE, THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS MINOR SPOILERS THAT DO NOT AFFECT THE GAMEPLAY/STORYLINE.Before we get off to the retrospective I just want to clear up some more questions I had gotten asked about RE5:Are there typewriters in the game to save your information? No, the only saving is via an autosave system that save after every checkpoint and chapter end. The checkpoints are fairly well setup and save before most major battles. Read More...

More Hidden Mercenaries
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 5th of March 2009 - 11:58 PM ]
Resident Evil 5: Mercenaries What kind of Resident Evil title would it be if it didn't have a Mercenaries type extra mini-game added into the mix right? Well Capcom knew this would be something fans of the franchise would be looking for and up until earlier today they didn't let too much out about the feature of the game. Well at least fans that have looked forward to it since it first came around in Resident Evil 2 and then pretty much now a staple. That's right, there will be a Mercenaries game added to your menu once you beat the game through on one go around. Read More...
