Aggrocast Episode Seventy Eight: Keeping The Class Up
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 9th of September 2010 - 03:42 PM ]
Corey joins up with Brian and Binh again for another exciting and yet "classy" episode of the Aggrocast. The crew talks about what they have been playing - including Mafia II, Mushroom Wars, Persona 4 and going back old school with Dungeon Siege 2. This week the crew delves into the XBox Live price increase as well as the price drop of the Nintendo DSi. Then, Corey decides to play devil's advocate for Apple's newly announced GameCenter. Hilarity ensues when all three gentlemen dance around the PC/Mac debate once again. Read More...

Learn Where The Plague Comes From in Dead Rising 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 8th of September 2010 - 08:38 PM ]
Dead Rising 2 is only a few weeks out from launch. Wouldn't it be nice to have a solid feel for what is going into the game? You already know the basics of the story, the characters you will encounter, the weapons you'll use as well as the multiplayer. Yea, it kind of would be nice to have it all in one nice little spot. Well at least in four different video spots, which are all shown below. I do wonder if they truly did build all the jury-rigged weapons in house to see if they would work or not as it is shown in the clip. Read More...

Dungeon Seige III Gameplay Trailer Released
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 3rd of September 2010 - 11:39 PM ]
What a way to kick off the Labor Day weekend! With PAX currently going on, there's going to be a lot of great stuff coming out of the convention and the first thing we get to kick off this holiday weekend is the new Dungeon Siege III Game play Trailer from Square Enix and Obsidian Entertainment. I have now watched this trailer three times and I still don't know what to say. We see a warrior type character and a caster archetype showing off the hack 'n' slash style game play we've come to expect from this dungeon crawler. The character models to me scream Square Enix; their digital footprint is all over this game. Read More...

Time To Go Back To The Future
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 3rd of September 2010 - 03:42 PM ]
I think Telltale Games took the DeLorean the wrong way through the time stream. Instead of going back and making a huge game based off the franchise back in the late 80's and early 90's, they went forward and decided to make a game 20 years after the last film hit theaters. That is, if it somehow came out before the end of the year. That just seems like the wrong way to do things. What they did do right though is snagged one of the guys who wrote the scripts from the classic films and also grabbed the great Christopher Lloyd to actually voice Doc Brown. Read More...

Batman Arkham City Covered In Blue Haze Too
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 1st of September 2010 - 08:14 PM ]
With the new iteration of the Batman: Arkham [Insert Location Here] franchise, a new look will emerge.  The technology and graphics capability have been expanded on and it would be irresponsible for the developers over at Rocksteady to not utilize these changes. Even just textures and character models would generally be enough to satisfy the ever-expanding needs and wants of gamers. Well looking below, they are doing just that with Batman: Arkham City and its denizens. To be truly honest, the only character model/textures that look similar from Batman: Arkham Asylum would be that of the titular character. Read More...

Review: Worms Reloaded
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 31st of August 2010 - 10:52 PM ]
Team17's breaking away from the retail publishing biz and now focusing more on digital publishing. Now we may see more Worms games popping up on the digital market soon. Judging from their long line of Alien Breed and Worms titles, it seems like a smart move on their part; but we're not here to discuss Team 17's business model restructure, we're here to talk about Worms Reloaded. Overview For those that have never played Worms before, it is a 2D turn-based strategy game where you take your team of worms and shoot, sheep and blow up the opposing team in spectacular fashion. Worms can be played in single player campaign mode or multiplayer mode with up to four players. Read More...

In The Secret World, The Templars Are From London
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 31st of August 2010 - 05:41 PM ]
Holy hells! We haven't seen anything new about The Secret World since the end of March. Like the whole team over at Funcom was ushered into the basement bunker owned by the Men in Black for trying to show the world what is truly going on. I was a bit afraid that was the case too. I am overly excited to see if they are going to be able to make up for Age of Conan. While there is still no release time frame anywhere in sight, there is a new video showcasing part of the creation process of The Secret World - at least in the form of one of the factions in the game. You will be surprised that the Templars are also nothing akin to the real world or the Assassin's Creed version of the society. Read More...

Borderlands Giving Out DLC For Free
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 31st of August 2010 - 02:42 PM ]
Isn't it always the case now? Everyone is out to make a buck one way or another at the expense of our pockets. The recent price hike for XBL is a good example of that. What you may have missed is the push for Game of the Year (GOTY) or Special Edition versions of games that come loaded with all that expensive DLC pumped out after game launch. Obviously this is simply a play to grab all the people who didn't shell out cash to make sure the DLC was created. LittleBigPlanet and Batman: Arkham Asylum are great examples here of this. Review: StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 27th of August 2010 - 04:15 PM ]
Starcraft II has been out for almost a month now and Binh and I finally had an opportunity to sit down and really get into the game. All we can tell you is that if you haven't had a chance to pick up the title, you need to go out and do so right now. We should state that this review is going to be mainly about the campaign mode because the multiplayer is worthy of a whole review in itself. (I am locking myself in a closet and playing multiplayer until my eyes bleed Zerg Blood.) Let Binh and I break it down for you. Read More...

We Got A Mafia II Developer's Call We Couldn't Refuse
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 24th of August 2010 - 11:40 AM ]
Now that you have seen the videos used to muster up your interest in the game that was eight years in the making - Mafia II - what else do you think the developers would want to tell you about the game? Yea, trailers and clips are fun, but they don't always convey certain things about a game you want to know. Sometimes they don't even truly show how the game is going to look and sound like. Well, we got on the horn with Jack Scalici, Director of Creative Production, and had a few questions answered for you. Read More...

Atari, and Cryptic Studios, the team that brought you City of Heroes, Champions Online and the latest Star Trek Online have announced that they are developing the latest title in the Neverwinter genre for the PC called "Neverwinter." Neverwinter will be an online RPG based on the Wizards of the Coast city of Neverwinter. Once a bustling location, Neverwinter has faced a great many disasters in the past hundred years. We Are Up To 18 Fighters For MvC3 Now
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Sunday, 22nd of August 2010 - 05:25 PM ]
Have you been left out of the loop on the news surrounding Marvel Vs. Capcom 3? Did you know there have been 16 announced characters already? Well more like 18, but more on that below. It would be nice if there was one place to see all the action up until now. Like some kind of montage video of characters and game action. We have just that for you here. Not only that, but two guys that didn't seem to make it into the montage. Read More...

by Binh Nguyen [ Friday, 20th of August 2010 - 11:27 PM ]
A couple of days ago 2K released two web videos called “The Art of Persuasion” and “Tools Of The Trade” for our viewing pleasure as it gets closer for Mafia II to drop this upcoming Tuesday August 24, 2010. You can certainly learn how to persuade someone if you are watching "The Art of Persuasion." Especially with a baseball bat. How about making yourself useful in "Tools Of The Trade. Read More...

Torchlight II Teaser Causing Salivation
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 19th of August 2010 - 09:14 PM ]
With the crazy amount of news coming out of Gamescom this year, even a little teaser trailer of the recently announced Torchlight 2 is generating plenty of buzz. Besides showing some outdoor environments, there really isn't a whole lot shown here, but the teaser did absolutely everything it needed to accomplish - raise the level of excitement and anticipation. I think our very own Corey Dockendorf demonstrated the proof in the pudding when he instant messaged me shortly after watching the trailer: "The new levels look pretty epic. If you all don't play with me, I'm gonna be pissed. Read More...

Lord Of The Rings Online Free-To-Play Goes Live Sept 10th
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 18th of August 2010 - 11:05 PM ]
Looks like players of Lord of the Rings Online will not have to wait much longer for the highly anticipated Free-to-Play content update. Today it was announced that Turbine will be releasing the update on September 10th. The entire free-to-play structure has been under close scrutiny by fans and the press alike. In response to that, Turbine has conducted a fairly long beta test of the new material. The update is not made up of just the new economic model. Read More...
