Comic Con 2011 Impression: Darksiders II
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 27th of July 2011 - 05:35 PM ]
While it was not playable, at least to non-developers, Darksiders II came with the full force of Death at this year's SD Comic Con. Puns always intended here. What did we get to see for the game? We some of the new weapons, game play and a small bit of the story that we will get to play through come next year. Also, if you look below, some amazing art and visuals for the game. Let me break down what I saw and a bit of extra info about it. Read More...

Behind The Scenes With X-Men Destiny
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 25th of July 2011 - 04:12 PM ]
X-Men Destiny is an Action RPG collaboration between Marvel and Activision. With an original story-line where you play as a new mutant within the X-men Universe, players will have the ability to make choices throughout the game, and your "Destiny" will be determined by these RPG style decisions. Marvel and Activision have released two behind the scenes trailers for their upcoming title X-Men Destiny. After the jump you will see the latest trailer, along with two behind the scenes videos. The behind the scenes videos consist of the actors from in-game, Scott porter and Jaimie Chung, explaining a little more about the games characters, Adrian and Aimi, also shedding some light on their background story-lines. by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 22nd of July 2011 - 03:09 PM ]
GoldenEye is probably one of the greatest FPS's of all time and as of last year we got a port of the game on the Nintendo Wii. Which for a time brought back some of the N64 nostalgia. Well Activision announced today that they will release GoldenEye 007: Reloaded. Only this time on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, chock full of upgraded features. With its official announcement we have an HD trailer to feast your eyes on. Along with a boatload of HD pics and 60fps of awesome-sauce. Read More...

WarCorner: Real ID Party Available For Testing
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 15th of July 2011 - 04:30 PM ]
Blizzard a while back made mention that players would be able to group together (same faction) and be able to run through random dungeons together across servers. Crazy I know, but it is Blizzard. They have the technology and the man power to make such miracles happen. I got an e-mail today confirming just that. The Real ID Party system went into live testing today and players will be able to experience cross-realm game play with friends. How this works is players will be required to have the Real ID of their friends they want to play with and invite them into a group. Read More...

I Almost Forgot The Secret World Is A MMO...
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 11th of July 2011 - 10:20 PM ]
If it wasn't for the fact that I get reminded it is a MMO in every press release, I would swear that The Secret World was not going to be one. With each new screen and video that is ever so slowly hitting the web or my inbox I get a sense of confusion at first. So far the game doesn't look like a standard MMO. But as we all know, looks can be very deceiving, which is the case again with the following images and videos. Below you can see the new screens and video showcasing a new area in the game called The Savage Coast. Read More...

E3 2011 Impressions: Star Trek
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 22nd of June 2011 - 03:56 PM ]
Now if you saw the Sony press conference you might have caught the small bit about a new Star Trek game coming soon with a really cool looking phaser add-on for the Move. There was extremely little shown off there and it seemed like it was just going to be a footnote in the game announcements during the conference. That was until I sought out Paramount and Digital Extremes in an underground meeting room. This is where the full announcement and game was being shown off. Read More...

E3 2011 Hands On: PS Vita
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 21st of June 2011 - 08:54 PM ]
Well we've waited and wondered at what Sony had in store for the NGP and at the Sony Conference most of the details were revealed. We now have the PS Vita coming to stores in the not too distant future to snag our money and keep us gaming when not at home. For those who don't know or have strong logic skills, this is the PSP2 that has been all the rumor for the last year. We were lucky enough to get our hands on a couple of PS Vita's and some of the software coming on or around launch time for the system. All of which showing off some of the new features and capabilities of the PS Vita. Read More...

Aggrocast Episode Eighty-Three: E3 2011 Special
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 20th of June 2011 - 04:37 PM ]
David, Corey and Brian are back at it to talk about this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo. First, they wrap up what they've been playing outside of the show floor - including Dungeon Siege III, Dungeons And Dragons: Daggerdale, Alice: The Madness Returns, Duke Nukem Forever, Final Fantasy III, 4 Elements and of course, Brian's update on how many hours he's put into Persona 4. Our Care/Don't Care segment goes commando with an all-E3 focus, which is also our main topic.  I will say that our talk went on a bit with the sheer number of topics that presented themselves from E3. E3 2011 Impressions: Wii U
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 17th of June 2011 - 10:07 PM ]
Starting back in April, rumors began swirling about Nintendo announcing a new console. Finally confirmed by the Japanese giant, people were anxiously awaiting the “Wii HD” reveal at this year’s E3. Nintendo did not disappoint the many in attendance at the press conference and those around the world with the unveiling of the Wii U. While the name may not be revolutionary, many of the features of both the new console and its unique controller may have you clamoring for this next release. I’ll put a section at the bottom of the article for all the hardware specifics – mainly because you can read that on any boring site. Read More...

E3 Hands On: Dead Island
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 17th of June 2011 - 10:50 AM ]
If you've followed anything I've written regarding Dead Island on this site, you would know that this is one of the few titles I am extremely excited to play. So you can only imagine my excitement when I was let in on the (as I was originally told) appointment only demo. A demo that focused specifically on the multiplayer/co-op of the tragedy in paradise. What could be better? I'm done gilding the lily here, so let me just take you into the bulk of what I got to see as well as control in Dead Island. Read More...

E3 2011 Impressions: XCOM
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 16th of June 2011 - 06:13 PM ]
At last year’s E3, when I saw XCOM, I was loving the environments, the time period and the promise of strategic elements. What I was iffy on was the generic-feeling action game play. A year has passed and I walked into the 2K Games booth to see what progress 2K Marin has made on this re-imaging of the beloved franchise. This year the focus of the demonstration was the strategic aspects of combat in the field and the importance of decisions made through the course of the game. Everything is a factor – from choosing your mission, to who accompanies you on the mission, to how you tackle each scenario you encounter in the field. Read More...

E3 2011 Hands On: Twisted Metal
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 14th of June 2011 - 08:56 PM ]
So it has been a year since the new Twisted Metal was announced at E3 during the Sony press conference. It seems like it would be a good time to check in and see what the designers over at Eat Sleep Play have been doing since then. Yes there have been some fun new trailers and game play footage, but that doesn't give one a good feeling of how the game would handle. For that you need to place hands to controller. It was extremely fitting that the first location to get my godly hands on the game was in the arcade set up immediately after the Sony conference. Read More...

E3 2011 Impressions: Tomb Raider
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 14th of June 2011 - 04:11 PM ]
If there is one franchise that feels like it has been milked to death, it would be Tomb Raider. The true definition that sex sells in gaming. So it would be very little surprise that Eidos would look into remaking such a beloved franchise for more money. Only from what we got to see at E3, I would not put it in the normal "remake for money" category just yet. This new Tomb Raider looks like it is going to do for this franchise what Batman Begins did for the Batman film franchise. It is darker. Read More...

E3 2011 Impressions: Torchlight II
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 13th of June 2011 - 11:34 PM ]
When I stumbled upon Torchlight during 2009’s E3, I knew I had found something special. Of all the games I came away wowed by during that show, Torchlight was definitely one that stood out in my mind after the buzz wore off. Fast forward to 2011, as Runic Games attempts to make a repeat performance at E3 with Torchlight II. At first glance, you will feel a familiarity with Torchlight II. The art style hasn't changed dramatically, though they seemed to have spruced up some of the textures. Read More...

E3 2011 Impressions: BioShock Infinite
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 13th of June 2011 - 09:34 PM ]
Hidden deep in the back of the 2K Games booth in the South Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center, we were led into a room that looked like an old hunter's club room - Animal heads on the walls, old fashioned lamps lighting the room and filled wall to wall with plush leather couches. It was as close to an opening in reality to take a step into Columbia (where Bioshock Infinite takes place) as I could imagine without Elizabeth opening a tear and pulling us through. Before I get into the bulk of the game footage we were shown, which consisted mostly of sky rail combat, let me catch some of you up on the story that is the lead up as well as the background. This is for those just now finding interest in the game. Read More...
