This Week In Video Games 3/7/16 — 3/11/16
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 12th of March 2016 - 12:00 AM ]
A Lot Has Gone On This Week. Here's A Recap Of What We Covered In Video Games There we go with another week of video games in the bag. It was a bit more on the slow side given the proximity to GDC but that doesn't mean there wasn't much to see and experience in gaming. We had more to look at for Vampyr and we have more to look forward to for Portal. We are all prepped for DOOM's beta that is upcoming and it looks like Overwatch will be entering an early access as well. Like I said, all kind of news and updates on this slow week for video games. Thief Movie Is One The Horizon As The Rights Are Claimed
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 11th of March 2016 - 10:00 PM ]
The rights to do a Thief movie have been claimed and it looks like we are on the path to actually see Thief on the silver screen Rumors and murmured words have been flying around lately that we are going to be getting a Thief movie. That would be a film based on the video game franchise that Eidos-Montréal has crafted and not another movie about random people stealing things for fun. Well I guess a Thief movie would fall into that vein of thinking but that isn't the goal here. It is all about bringing the moderately received reboot to the franchise to the silver screen and now we have confirmation from Square Enix that someone wants to do it. Read More…

Come As You Are For New Quantum Break Footage
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 11th of March 2016 - 08:00 PM ]
A new cinematic trailer for Quantum Break has been released and it adds some darker tones to Quantum Break with a cover of Nirvana If for some reason you didn't have a good grasp on how the theme of Quantum Break will feel then it is time to see yet another cinematic trailer for the game. I swear Remedy wants to pump out more of these then any real gameplay but seeing as Quantum Break is using a very life like structure for the characters what you are about to see could quite easily be gameplay and we just don't know it. Of course this isn't the only thing to take away from this latest trailer for the game. Read More…

A new video for Battleborn has been released to show off the new Incursion mode for Battleborn that will have players slaying all over the place Here we go with yet another mode for Battleborn here. All of the heroes are out there so it looks like this is going to be what we get from here on out from Gearbox but that is perfectly fine with me. They do need to pad the media and updates for Battleborn to make sure it all lasts until May 3rd to keep us all interested. As if the badasses of the game weren't enough. Read More…

New Mirror's Edge Catalyst Developer Diary Shows Off Enhancements
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 10th of March 2016 - 08:00 PM ]
A new Mirror's Edge Catalyst developer diary has been released showing all of the basics but also new gameplay for Mirror's Edge Catalyst and how it has all evolved Another developer diary for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst has been released and it does what most of them do; titillate without any substance. I'll never understand when companies like DICE do this but there is something new to watch for the game. Of course this could all be On EA's side of holding back information until we get closer to launch but seeing as Mirror's Edge Catalyst is a ways off with its May 24th release date I think we all need something more to tide us over. Dead Island 2 Has A New Developer Taking The Charge
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 10th of March 2016 - 06:00 PM ]
Dead Island 2 has a new developer and looks to be back in full swing without any of the compromises listed for the original Dead Island 2 developers being used Maybe you remember last July when it was announced that Dead Island 2 was losing its developer. All over creative differences and compromises that Deep Silver didn't want to make to the franchise that YAGER couldn't get around. Since then there hasn't been much word on the status of Dead Island 2 and all we've seen recently is that Dead Island and Riptide are getting the HD move to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Thankfully today I get to inform you that Sumo Digital has stepped up to make DI2 a reality. Read More…

How Far We Have Come In The Franchise With Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 9th of March 2016 - 08:00 PM ]
In preparation for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End there is a new video series to prep us and this one goes back to Uncharted’s roots to show us how the game has evolved Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End may have been delayed until May 10th but that doesn't mean the hype train has stopped rolling. In fact it looks like the schedule is still on track as it was before the delay as Naughty Dog is bringing us more behind the scenes that would have ended just before the official launch of the game. Either that or PlayStation's video team was too eager to give us a look at everything going on behind the curtain for Uncharted 4 and just wanted to get the word out there ASAP. Read More…

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 9th of March 2016 - 06:00 PM ]
The dates for DOOM's multiplayer closed beta have been confirmed and it looks like fans of DOOM will be slaying each other in Hell very soon Looks like we all will be entering the brutal world of DOOM here soon as the multiplayer beta is only a few weeks out now. We are talking like a few weeks as it is currently slated to run from March 31st to April 3rd. At least if you picked up id Software's earlier title Wolfenstein: The New Order as it looks like Bethesda isn't fully ready to open the floodgates for DOOM's multiplayer to the world just yet. At least they are trying to work out some of the bugs earlier on than the week before unlike some other recent titles… As with all of these kinds of things this isn't going to be the full multiplayer mode coming to DOOM when it launches on May 13th. Hells they are still working on a PC version of the game and don't forget Rock Band VR. Read More…

Gameplay For Vampyr Has Made It Out Of The Coffin
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 7th of March 2016 - 10:00 PM ]
The first bit of gameplay for Vampyr has made it online with a bit of a developer overview to let us see how Vampyr may run in its final form So far we have been given very little for Vampyr and at most it has been concept art and screenshots. Little is still known to the mass public on what Dontnod is building here outside of the very basics. It is a vampire game set in the era of the early 1900's in London. Also our choices on whom we kill are going to matter. Read More…
