by Binh Nguyen [ Saturday, 5th of December 2009 - 09:00 PM ]
We all know that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 took away dedicated servers from PC gamers. This is not the case for Shattered Horizon. On December 4th, 2009 Futuremark Games Studio finally allows for a dedicated server for Shattered Horizon, a multiplayer first-person shooter played in zero gravity. At least PC gamers will be able to choose how they want to play Shattered Horizon and who they want to play with. Players will be getting greater protection from cheats, hackers and griefers. Jeff Strain announced Monday his new Video Game Development studio Undead Labs. Whats this? You don't know who Jeff Strain is you say? Jeff is from the Blizzard world, he worked on the programming for Diablo as well as StarCraft. He also formed the initial development team and was the lead programmer for World of Warcraft in '99. Mass We Pray is the 6th circle of Hell
by Corey Dockendorf [ Sunday, 22nd of November 2009 - 03:30 AM ]
Dante's Inferno has been this year's king of the publicity stunts. If you've been keeping up with gaming news this year, you would have seen Christians petitioning Dante's Inferno at E3, EA offering a "night of sin with 2 hot girls" during Comic-Con 09, and finally there was that little business of $200 being sent to game reviewers in skeleton covered boxes. Well Dante's Inferno is at it again this time with a website that would scare the life out of any gamer. Mass We Pray is the latest edition to the Dante's Inferno marketing campaign: A family shouldn’t have to wait until Sunday to worship the Lord. Read More...

If the Nintendo Entertainment System Was Left 4 Dead
by Kevin [ Tuesday, 17th of November 2009 - 05:07 PM ]
Eric Ruth, of the aptly named EricRuthGames, has designed what is probably one of the most entertaining things related to Left 4 Dead in recent memory. With Left 4 Dead 2 upon us, and all of the bells and whistles it provides, it is hard to imagine a time before these advanced graphics engines, intelligent scenario directors, and well... four player gameplay. To remind us all of the goodness of our past, Eric decided to create an 8-bit version of the game. Read More...

So What Is The Story With Dante's Inferno?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 16th of November 2009 - 11:32 PM ]
With the slew of promotions EA and Visceral Games are doing for this game, (Greedy Checks, Rick Rolling Boxes), what is the actual story behind the game? We all know that it is a loose translation of the famous epic poem The Divine Comedy. You know, the first "mapping" of Hell and in turn leading to a man's persecution, but what is the actual story trying to be told in this throw at the poem? Well our friends over at GameTrailers, and in turn EA and Visceral, have put together a nice little short clip of why Dante is going to Hell. It also shows off a bit of the game as well as some pretty cool quotes from literature to mix it all well. Read More...

Runic Games Releases Highly Anticipated Torchlight Editor
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 12th of November 2009 - 03:05 PM ]
This is not a review of the editor, though if you are looking for my review of the single player, click here. The highly anticipated level editor for Torchlight was released on Wednesday night by Runic Games.  Aptly named TorchED, Runic is giving players a chance to really delve into the world of Torchlight and get their hands dirty with as many ember-enriched assets as they can.  The editor is lock-and-loaded with everything in the game and then some.  I'm serious when I say everything. Dante To Crash The Gates Of Hell Early
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 10th of November 2009 - 11:53 PM ]
So just in case you needed a good intro to your mid-term or final paper on The Divine Comedy, EA and Visceral Games are going to help you out. How? By giving you the events Dante Alighieri had to go through to get into hell so he could make that google map he did. All in Demo form for your chosen system of PS3, XBox, or PSP. Ok, so this won't actually help any of you getting ready for your final stuff in December, but it will give you a nice way to relax after writing said paper. Or a distraction and a good view and feel for the game. Read More...

Visceral Games Is Full Of Heretics And Baby Killers
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 10th of November 2009 - 06:32 PM ]
I have been called some bad things in the past, as recent as nine minutes ago. I've received hate letters based on my thoughts and opinions all the time. So it should probably go without saying that the people over at Visceral Games and the inferno team at EA get hit with this just about at often because of Dante's Inferno. Christians are probably going even crazier knowing they have been used for promotions as much as Rick Astley has been on the internet for jokes. But I digress. Read More...

Review: Torchlight
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 6th of November 2009 - 04:30 PM ]
There are times in any gamer’s life when you find yourself blearily looking for a clock, attempting to adjust your eyes to read the time. You find yourself trying to comprehend how the time reported is much later than the internal clock in your head. How much time have you lost? Minutes? Hours? If Runic Games is using that time as a measure of success of their recently released Action-RPG Torchlight, there must be a party in Washington every night! The story begins in the small mining village of Torchlight. Ember, a mineral of extraordinary power (and possible corruption) was found in a nearby mine. Read More...

Review: Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time
by Ben Brody [ Wednesday, 4th of November 2009 - 01:59 PM ]
Ratchet and Clank has enjoyed a really good run these past 7 years, and A Crack in Time is a great cap to the "future" series. In what may be the final game in the series, Ratchet must rescue Clank from Dr. Nefarious (the villain from Up Your Arsenal, the third game in the series). Before we get in to deep, let's get a quick glance back at the Future trilogy thus far. In Tools of Destruction, an evil tyrant named Tachyon set out to revenge against the Lombax's for destroying his race. This is the first hint we get that Ratchet isn't the last Lombax in the galaxy. Review: DJ Hero (aka Last Night a DJ Hero Saved My Life)
by Kevin [ Tuesday, 3rd of November 2009 - 02:34 AM ]
Reinventing the Vinyl WheelYour palms sweat heavily as you approach the stage. There's a twitch, a solitary twinge of excitement racing through your veins and ready to explode from the tips of your fingers onto the vinyl that awaits you. The lights flicker and flash and the crowd roars as you make your entrance. You deftly weave between songs and paradoxical rhythmic patterns, cross-fading between sultry sirens and heard edged break beats. You match the intensity of the crowd with every pull of the record, every scratch rivaled by their increased volume. Read More...

As if there hasn't been enough stuff popped out from the beast that is Dragon Age: Origins. First we get the character builder, then we get the social networking site. The game isn't available until the beginning of next month but BioWare is already working on a 2D project slated for sometime in October to wet our appetites. Torchlight Picking Up Steam For Day One
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 14th of October 2009 - 09:08 PM ]
Yesterday Runic Games announced that Torchlight will be available day one on Steam. Making a big splash at E3 and then at PAX, Torchlight has been winning hearts and minds with its intuitive and fun playstyle. We here at AggroGamer have been big fans from the beginning, and the announcement of a day one addition to Steam seals the deal. Bottom line, this is a great move for the folks over at Runic. Steam is a fantastic platform for distribution. Read More...
