So with Techland working on Dying Light it kind of surprises me to hear about Dead Island: Epidemic. Just how do they have the time? Oh wait a second…they aren't working on this. Just as last year, The Walking Dead Escape was back with a vengeance at Petco Park during the San Diego Comic Con. For the uninitiated this is an event where a good portion of the sports arena in San Diego was converted into an obstacle course in the theme of AMC's The Walking Dead. It really allows for people to really test their mettle and some of their survival skills to brag that they could survive the initial zombie outbreak. I was lucky enough to get to run the course again this year and what I found interesting was that most people I ran with compared the experience to most of the action zombie video games on the market today. Granted we were not allowed to attack the zombies in the run, but I would have to agree with the sentiment as there has been a push in the industry with Outlast and Dying Light this year. I was born when Mad Max 2 hit the big screen and I was barely four when Beyond Thunderdome came out, but that still didn't stop me from enjoying the films, and the NES game, in my youth. You can only imagine my excitement when I saw the announcement trailer for Mad Max during the Sony press conference. Yesterday we got a look at what Konami and its developers are bringing to E3. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 being one of the larger titles talked about and shown off. Amongst all the PR hype and a dumb looking Mega64 parody we got a nice 6 minute trailer showing the game in action. Even though we are still days out from E3 week, Konami has taken it upon themselves to "go first" with the showcase of what they have coming in the next year. This isn't anything new for Konami and will probably stay the same for the coming years. The entire "event" went live at 10 am PST and as of this posting just about ended, but we have it in its entirety in case the real world had you pulled away from you computers. I remember my first laptop computer as if it were only a few years ago. It was probably about three inches think, felt like 20 lbs in heft, and could barely keep up with even most of the 'eMachines' currently on the market. That was a gaming laptop from 2004 mind you, but it was top of the line and one of the most powerful out there at the time. Now, almost a decade later we are getting a new gaming laptop that is not only about as powerful as a desktop, but just a bit thinner than a dime when shut and lighter than the smallest weights in my gym. I was insanely excited to go to the Wizards of the Coast Booth at PAX East this year. Last year I skipped it because I thought they were only showing off expansions for Magic: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012. I learned shortly after that they were actually showing off alpha stages of Magic: DOTP 2013. I was not going to make that mistake again this year. If you are looking forward to Deadpool: The Game then you will be happy to know that there is now a release date as well as pre-order bonuses galore for all of us. There are also a few more screen shots of the game but nothing overly revealing or special in terms of news or features. This is starting to concern me as we are approaching the release date quickly and for the most part we have no clue how the game is going to play, only how it is going to look. Big news in the world of witty cross-over card game simulators. Telltale Games has recently announced that Poker Night at the Inventory is getting a sequel. According to the Telltale's website, “Poker Night 2 is the unnecessary sequel to Poker Night at the Inventory! In the original game you played poker with a bunch of weirdoes for fame and fortune Team Fortress 2 items and the satisfaction of beating the odds.” The original game had you playing against Max from Sam&Max, Strong Bad from Homestar Runner, The Heavy from Team Fortress 2, and Tycho from Penny Arcade. With PAX East less than a week away let's get a look at everything going down this coming weekend. Firstly, we have the recently re-announced Saints Row 4 from Volition and their new owners Deep Silver. Nothing about this game aside from the release date and a fluff trailer has been shown. What do you expect from the newest installment of the Saints franchise? Talk about a title that I can't wait to play, mainly for the story and humor. Deadpool looks more and more up my alley with each new trailer for the game. They are just everything that makes the 'Merc with a Mouth' who he is. The following new trailer does not disappoint as well. Well outside of showing some of the game's actually mechanics and game play. I'd be lying if I wasn't interested in how Deadpool will actually handle in game.
