More Brutality With Mortal Kombat Trailers
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 10th of June 2010 - 03:38 PM ]
With the extremely mixed reception of the new Mortal Kombat short film, it did not take long for Warner Bros. to jump on the huge sensation it has caused over the internet. Not to promote a new film or to even accept the new vision that was pumped out there, but to promote the next Mortal Kombat video game coming soon. Yep, we should have figured on this. To prove it as well, below is a new trailer for the game as well. Read More...

Obsidian Entertainment Developing Next Dungeon Siege
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 8th of June 2010 - 02:54 PM ]
It's been a while since I was truly excited about a game announcement, but this one is pretty exciting! Dungeon Siege 3 has been announced for NOT ONLY PC, but XBox 360 and PS3 as well. According to the press release, Dungeon Siege 3 will have Square Enix (Final Fantasy) on board as Editor, and Obsidian Entertainment (Neverwinter Nights 2, Knights Of The Old Republic) as the Developer, with Gas Powered Games (Dungeon Siege 1/2, Supreme Commander 1/2) supervising the whole process. So let's recap. Probably one of the best dungeon crawlers is being re-done in HD format across multiple platforms by some very powerful companies in the gaming industry. Read More...

Gaming In The Clouds
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 26th of May 2010 - 11:19 PM ]
The Cloud. You've heard about it. You've probably use it in forms such as DropBox, Gmail, or the hundreds of other programs out there hosting your files so that no matter where you are, they are available at the click of a mouse. Just stick your files into Cyberspace, and worry about them later. With supercomputers and data centers hosting Peta-Bytes worth of data, it seems kind of silly that you have to install your favorite game onto your computer, or every computer that you want to play it on. You can do it with video, why not video games? Think about it for a sec, why fill up your hard drive with titles dependent on your computers hardware, and every time the newest Crysis inception is released you have to upgrade that hardware? Review: Alan Wake
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 17th of May 2010 - 09:09 PM ]
If you follow me at all on here it should be no surprise that I have not seen much of a difference between Alan Wake and Silent Hill. At least that's my opinion from the viewpoint of the screen shots, trailers and the most recent live action Bright Falls series. I mean, they look so very similar. If you don't think so, then you should have your brain examined. Well, I was just recently able to give Alan Wake a good play through. A really good play through so I could contrast and compare between this new IP and the "older" Silent Hill IP. Read More...

Lessons Learned: Record of Agarest War
by Michael Camacho [ Monday, 17th of May 2010 - 02:34 PM ]
Have you ever been excited for a game's release, and somehow found a way to ruin the game experience due to your own mistake? I guess in my case, it's more stupidity than a mistake. What I am about to recount is how I went from being in Heaven to dragging myself through Hell in a matter of 10 days. This is my story on how my attempt to review Record of Agarest War went sour and the lessons I learned. As a gamer that is very keen on the import scene, I had heard of Record of Agarest War when it was first released in Japan in late 2007. I was intrigued by the reported dating aspects, the Soul Breeding the game touted and being able to play through story through multiple generations. Read More...

Review: Kick-Ass The Game
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 7th of May 2010 - 07:15 PM ]
The comic and film of this intellectual property have come and gone. Both spectacular in their own right. If you have yet to read or see either, do both. But what if you have done one or both already? Well did you know there is a video game version of Kick-Ass for the PSN and iPhone? There most certainly is. Why wouldn't there be, as merchandising is a great way to make more money off a great franchise. It is the capitalist way after all. Read More...

SEGA Embraces DRM For Alpha Protocol
by Brian Goodman [ Wednesday, 14th of April 2010 - 05:37 PM ]
SEGA, according to Eurogamer, has reported its intent to make use of the Uniloc DRM for its PC release of Alpha Protocol, despite past issues regarding the software. SEGA will be joining the growing group of publishers who have begun using intrusive authentication software in the name of protecting their PC releases. Since the inception of PC gaming publishers have been trying to find effective ways to balance protection against theft and unobtrusive gameplay experiences. How many people remember the funny picture wheel with older Lucas Arts games, or the frequently used “what’s the 4th word on the 9th line of page 36 of the manual” chestnut? Read More...

This week, AggroGamer will be presenting a review for Dark Void, for a new series entitled, "Games You Missed, Which Might Not Be a Bad Thing." The first title to get this treatment will be the action title Dark Void that was developed by Airtight Games and published by Capcom for the PS3, 360 and PC on January 19, 2010. In the meantime, the more well received iteration of the game, Dark Void Zero will be headed to the iPhone and PC. Shank Cometh
by Kevin [ Wednesday, 31st of March 2010 - 01:41 PM ]
I've been following Shank for a while now, and I've been consistently impressed by the visuals and the style of the game. It's like a 2D explosion of sweetly animated vengeance carefully marinated in some of the craziest violence that does not include a certain Devil Who May Cry or Dual Wielding Busty Librarian Clothed In Her Own Hair. Developed by Klei Entertainment, makers of such downloadable goodness as Eets and N+, Shank has action to spare. Here is Shank killing a giant butcher. Read More...

Mini Review: The Heavy Rain Chronicles: The Taxidermist
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 26th of March 2010 - 08:26 PM ]
So you played through Heavy Rain and seen all the endings, now what do you do? You could play around and just keep killing the hooker or store clerk for fun. You could try to find other ways to see Ethan off himself if Shaun dies. You could even replay the sex scene, that got no negative mention in the media, and see if you can glitch Madison to stay naked. Just to name a few things to do. You could do one of those options.
