Review: Rock Band 3 [Gamer Version]
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 26th of October 2010 - 08:53 PM ]
So here we go again. Another rhythm game comes to the market, only this time it is one that is truly trying to innovate the genre. I am talking in more ways than just trying to add new ways to play songs in the way of four guitars or adding challenges to earn more points and "stars." Though we already knew that Rock Band 3 was adding in a new instrument and a "Learn To Play Real Instruments" mode, it's how they went about it that changes the genre. This of course makes Rock Band 3 more than just another game. Being that there is so much going on with Rock Band 3, I've decided to break it up into two reviews. Read More...

Review: TerRover
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 21st of October 2010 - 11:06 PM ]
Creat Studios generated a lot of buzz when it showed its downloadable title, TerRover, at E3 this summer. Then when the demo was dropped exclusively for PlayStation Plus members, excitement for the game was off the charts. Sensitive controls and dynamic game play showed the promise of a precision platformer – something the hardcore gaming community can always get behind. TerRover embraces and champions the game design concept of Trial by Death. Trial by Death is the process by which the player acquires knowledge of the game and its systems of control by forging forward without the necessary information to succeed, relying on continuous failure to derive the correct solution. New BioShock Infinite Screens Will Pluck You Eyes Out
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 21st of October 2010 - 08:42 PM ]
Why do I have a feeling that these crows are going to play a HUGE part of BioShock Infinite? I mean we all know it looks like there will be a Plasmid based around using a murder of crows, but is there going to be more than that? There also seems to be a lack of any other bird type in any of the visuals we have been shown thus far - unless you count angels, in the form of statues, as birds. I don't. If you haven't looked down by now, then I am telling you to seize the opportunity. Read More...

In Case You Didn't Know The Story For Scorpion...
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 20th of October 2010 - 08:36 PM ]
The devs working on the new rendition of Mortal Kombat have been nice enough to let us know all that is going on with Scorpion and why he is risking his unlife for revenge. Just in case we didn't get it from all the earlier titles, movies and every other Mortal Kombat based IP out there. It would seem so. In case you are a virgin to the Mortal Kombat story, have been hit in the head repeatedly, or both, let me recap. Scorpion blames Sub Zero for destroy himself and his entire clan. Read More...

This Saw II Trap Looks Star Wars Inspired
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 18th of October 2010 - 04:06 PM ]
So Saw II: Flesh And Blood hits selves next week just in time to ride all the hype from the upcoming film. Not to miss a beat, obviously Konami is going to throw some more screens out there to entice those of us that are fans of the franchise and interested in the game. Yes I am one of those said people hence why I try to keep you all up to date on what is going on here. Well it looks like in this most recent push that Jigsaw was inspired by Star Wars a bit. The old rust walls compacting in to crush the garbage that happens to be in between them. Read More...

Splatterhouse's Rick Is More Bad Ass Than Wolverine
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 15th of October 2010 - 10:33 PM ]
If you don't believe the title, look at the new set of visuals for Splatterhouse. These screen shots show off a bit on how the "Health" meter of Splatterhouse will be visually shown on Rick. As he gets hurt the character model changes as appropriate. Not to major of new news there but it is something that has been seen this up close and personal. I mean these lacerations and complete loss of flesh look rather realistic, at least for the game's style. So how does this make Rick more bad ass? Read More...

Netflix And Sony Just Gave Us Coasters
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 15th of October 2010 - 04:25 PM ]
We can all rejoice! The Netflix app is coming to the PS3 on the 18th of October. That's only a few days from now so use those soon to be obsolete PS3 discs until they no longer spin. Or at least find some new use for them. Maybe some form of artwork like some have done with the AOL disc of the old internet days. But the new app does not just bring the ability to instantly stream movies and TV without a disc. What else are we are getting? Read More...

Dance Central Track List Revealed
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 14th of October 2010 - 04:34 PM ]
Since this year's E3, there has only really been one launch title for the Microsoft Kinect that I've had even the most remote interest in: Dance Central. Today, Harmonix released the complete track listing for the game and although the 32 tracks seems a bit light - after being accustomed to receiving 85 tracks on a Rock Band disc - I will say the Harmonix team did an excellent job in the selection department. Sure it has the stereotypical DDR-like songs ("Funky Town", "Brick House", "Jungle Boogie"), but when you look a little bit deeper, I think you'll agree there is more than a few songs where you're beginning to hear the beat in your head and a smile is creeping onto your face. I only know since it just happened to me as I saw Bell Biv DeVoe's “Poison”, Salt-N-Pepa's “Push It” and Wreckx-n-Effect's “Rump Shaker”. Read More...

Review: Enslaved: Odyssey To The West
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 13th of October 2010 - 10:22 PM ]
It is the distant future and just as is assumed in most post-apocalyptic stories, the machines have all but stamped out most of humanity. Those humans still wandering the devastated, in this case, America either spend their time hiding from the still active killing machines or slavers rounding them all up. Two of these survivors being a brilliant technophile nicknamed Trip and "Me Smash" hulk of a man nick named Monkey. Both of whom have been captured and shipped out to the evil Pyramid to be executed or added into the slave population. Read More...

Batman Teaching Lessons On Sharing In Arkham City
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 12th of October 2010 - 07:56 PM ]
Ok, well maybe not sharing as you would think. Sharing his fist in criminal's faces mainly. But with images like the one next to this line, it looks like it could be something different. At least there is the sharing in the form of some new screen shots and concept art. All of which we have listed out below for your viewing pleasure. Maybe you can learn a thing on sharing and send them off to everyone else as excited for Batman: Arkham City as we are. Looking further into these images though, it looks like there are some new "heavy" types in the game. Read More...

Review: Dead Rising 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 11th of October 2010 - 09:05 PM ]
The zombie outbreak has now overtaken a good portion of the world now. Cites have been destroyed, human life is now precious even more so now yet everyone with a pulse has seemed to come to terms with zompoclypse. In fact, they have come to such great terms that game shows have popped up surrounding the total destruction of all of the infected. The most popular being Terror Is Reality, which has taken up shop in the new city of Fortune City just miles outside of a destroyed Las Vegas, NV. Speaking of Las Vegas, remember the Case Zero Review? Read More...

The Soothing Sounds Of Splatterhouse
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 8th of October 2010 - 07:57 PM ]
Just as pounding and brutal as the visuals for Splatterhouse look to be, it looks like the audio for the game will be just as brutal. Man I haven't used brutal to describe game music since Brütal Legend last year, but in this case it fits. It actually fits a lot more than it did for the 108 songs of Brütal Legend, but now I am getting side tracked again. Below you will find the 14 tracks listed for the soundtrack of the game. At first it sounds like that may not be all that many tracks, but I am sure that just like the PSP title Infected we will be drawn in to the violence and gore that we won't notice. Read More...

Another Movie Tie-In, This Time Captain America
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 8th of October 2010 - 04:15 PM ]
Get ready for another "Lets-Milk-The-Franchise-For-What-It-Is-Worth" game coming next year from Sega. Just in time for the feature film Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: Super Solder will be hitting shelves to cash in on the hype. Here is the trailer for the game just to show you what Sega has planned for the tie-in-but-not-based-on game for the film. At first glance it looks like it could have potential. It really does. X-Men: Destiny Revealed Somewhat
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 7th of October 2010 - 08:27 PM ]
Just in time to get fans overly excited about something at the NYCC, not that they wouldn't be in general, Activision drops the curtain and shows the world a teaser for X-Men: Destiny. Something that can be spied on at the Activision booth (#1833) for now as well as all over the internet by now, not to mention below. Looks kind of… well… it's a reveal trailer that reveals nothing. All that is know as of now is it is a game that has us the players controlling a new mutant recruit. Read More...
