The Cake Is Truly A Lie, But Portal 2 Is Not
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 6th of March 2010 - 11:18 PM ]
It's been a long time coming, but it is finally here. Portal 2 has been announced. Announced via the latest edition of Game Informer as a twelve page article and featured on two different covers for this edition. You can see the images below. Not too bad to look at, but you will have to get the magazine to get more details as of right now. Or you could pop on over to the GameStop site and scope out these details listed under the PC description for the pre-order. A description that states there is going to be a full new cast of characters, a load of new puzzles, much larger puzzles as well, and multiplayer/co-op modes in the game. Read More...

Review: BioShock 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 5th of March 2010 - 08:49 PM ]
The time has finally come for us all to head back into Rapture and see what has transpired since the fall of Andrew Ryan and get some questions answered. Is the city still standing up well? Have the splicers died off? What happened to those pesky ADAM filled Little Sisters? All kinds of questions that we were left to wonder when escaping from the underwater city in the first BioShock. The Story: Picking up almost ten years after Jack escaped from Rapture, BioShock 2 starts you out in a similar WTF moment forcing the start of the game. You just kind of wake up as a Big Daddy and have only clouded memories on what the hell is going on. Read More...

Games In A Flash
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 4th of March 2010 - 09:32 PM ]
Flash games are the best way to kill time at work, at school, or waiting for the next Blizzard game to be released. With all the new console games coming out every week, we seem to overlook some developers that create entertaining games for FREE! Day after day folks are pouring out innovative and new game ideas all the time. I thought I would highlight a few of these for you readers out there, because their are some games out their that are too good to miss. Robot Unicorn Attack   Yes this game looks like it's for four year old girls and ponies (and the music is something from the 80's) but it's simplicity and fast paced gameplay make this a great way to kill that 15 minute break you have in the morning. Steam Coming To Mac?
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 4th of March 2010 - 04:48 PM ]
With the Game Developers Conference just a short ways away, and Valve revving everyone up for their "Big Announcement," little has been left to the imagination about what this announcement could be. Images have been surfacing from multiple sites who had received images displaying Valve characters in very "Apple like" commercials. I have attached some of the images for your viewing pleasure. A very cool 1984 throwback featuring Alyx from Half-life 2 (via Macworld) Gordon freeman rocking the Apple look (via Macrumors) Check out the rest from MacNN, Rock, Paper, Shotgun and Eurogamer The folks over at the Steam community forums have been data mining the latest client software Beta release and have stumbled upon graphic images for Mac buttons, an osx. Or if you are an old player, to enjoy the behind the scenes parts of the game for the first time. Alpha Protocol May Be The Only Thing To Save Us
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 26th of February 2010 - 03:31 PM ]
Now that the excitement and anticipation of Mass Effect 2 is over, it is time to make way for another action adventure type of RPG. This time without alien boobs or harvesting minerals from planets. Instead, you get to save the world from a full on war. Much like every other RPG storyline that is out there. Final Fantasy I'm looking at you. Alpha Protocol has been given the official date of June 1st for release. Read More...

The Secret World's Monster Blog
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 23rd of February 2010 - 05:22 PM ]
God I love viral marketing. Especially the kind of viral marketing that draws you in deeper and deeper to find out very little about what is being advertised. Or at least when the details are so cryptic you don't get much out of it, but still want more. Something that Funcom has been doing for almost a year now with The Secret World. Just "dug up" on the great internets is a blog that shows it has been running since November of last year. A blog run by a "conspiracy theorist" showing images of creatures that are wandering around in the sleepy little town of Kingsmouth. Read More...

Little Red In My Resident Evil 5
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 19th of February 2010 - 02:19 AM ]
Well, the day is finally here where the entire console gaming community can get all those new features they threw into Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, without having to shell out the cash for a full game. The new DLC for the game is now available for download on the XBox 360 and PS3. The DLC includes all the build up to what happened to Jill in the cut scenes, and about an extra hour's worth of gameplay. Not to mention all the additional costumes and characters in the mutiplayer mode. To commemorate this day of the new release, Capcom has given us a video rendition of the old trailer for the game. A Different Look At Kingsmouth From The Secret World
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 18th of February 2010 - 09:30 PM ]
Looking at the below new assets for Funcom's upcoming MMO The Secret World, the excitement is back after the very lack-luster gameplay video they threw out there to entice us all. I still attest that it was pretty bad for the first real video for the game. But in any instance, like I said, the new screen shots totally make up for it. While it is hard to tell if these are stylized in-game shots or just concepts done up in an art department, they are still great pieces of eye candy. Although, like Alan Wake the jeep crash looks a bit too Silent Hill it still is intriguing. Read More...

Pea-shooting Zombies On The Go With iPhone/iPod
by Binh Nguyen [ Wednesday, 17th of February 2010 - 12:34 PM ]
Plants vs. Zombies was one of the 2009 most played games for the PC, especially for those at Aggrogamer.com. PopCap Games has announced today that they will be releasing the game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Plants vs. Zombies will be available now at the Apple’s App Store for $2.99. Andrew Stein, Director of Mobile platforms from PopCap Games made the following comment, “Plants vs. Zombies for iPhone and iPod Touch marks the first adaptation of our wildly popular ‘flower defense’ game to a new platform, and we’re excited at how well it has translated to the iPhone and iPod touch. We’ve stayed true to the original computer version with the full-featured gameplay of Adventure mode, and have optimized this adaptation around a seamless touch interface. Read More...

XBox LIVE Coming To A Windows Phone Near You
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 15th of February 2010 - 11:00 PM ]
With Mobile gaming on the rise, and new technologies emerging from console makers these days it was no surprise to see Microsoft announce XBox LIVE connectivity with the new Windows Phone 7 software. Unlike Windows Mobile 6.1 and higher, this is aimed at a more social experience by increasing communication across a multitude of carriers and phones. Windows Phone 7 will be available (unlike the iPhone) on Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and HTC phones. Windows Phone 7 OS is going to be Microsoft's mobile entertainment platform, by bringing gaming to the player anywhere they go, and the ability to network with all your LIVE friends, Microsoft is coming out the gate swinging. Capcom Either Causes International Incidents Or Zombie Incidents
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 15th of February 2010 - 03:57 PM ]
It looks like once again Capcom could not resist disseminating their social commentary to the world - be it that people are becoming more and more violent and creative or that we are all giving into the social zombism that is quickly spreading the planet. Hell, they even seem to want to weigh in on the issues between China, Korea, and the United States. They do this in one of the best ways ever: through video game trailers and game play. Below you will see two new video clips for two of Capcom's upcoming games: Dead Rising 2 and Super Street Fighter 4. Read More...

Monsters, Controllers & Previews, Oh My!
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 12th of February 2010 - 05:44 PM ]
Skepticism reigned as I sat down to play Monster Hunter Tri, but it began to dispel as I took the new Wii Classic Controller Pro in my hands and looked across the table at Binh, who was joining me for some co-operative hunting on another Wii. Capcom is breaking ground bringing the immensely popular Monster Hunter series to the Nintendo Wii along with this brand new controller. Though the franchise is huge in Japan, but not nearly as well known here in Europe and North America, Capcom looks to indoctrinate a new audience. If what I played at CES is any indicator, they are off to a good start. Read More...

Review: Mass Effect 2
by Michael Camacho [ Monday, 8th of February 2010 - 09:31 PM ]
*Disclaimer: If you have not played Mass Effect, then I urge you to play through it before reading this review, as it will contain some spoilers from the first game. After the original Mass Effect, Bioware had a tough job on their hands. They made an excellent game, but one that was hampered by complaints from the players. So during the two plus years since the original, Bioware has spent their time making the necessary changes. The final result is leaps and bounds ahead of the first. Read More...

Got BioShock 2 Question? We Might Have Answers.
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 8th of February 2010 - 06:59 PM ]
So on Friday (2/5/10) the people who are bringing us BioShock 2 and who helped in porting BioShock over to the PS3, held a nice round of "answer some submitted BioShock 2 questions." A nice game that I was able to sit in on and have some questions answered. For you, our readers, as well as for my personal needs. We all know I can be needy now and then. Here is my understanding of what the guys were trying to get across while answering all of our needy questions. Read More...
