The Chronicle Continues
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 12th of March 2009 - 04:04 PM ]
Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles Announced With the 5th installment of the franchise mere hours away from the mass populace, it should really be no shock that Capcom is going to try and keep the Resident Evil steam roller going by announcing not one, not two, but three new games they plan to bring out to market before the end of the year. Looks like they want to make 2009 year of Umbrella. If only all three were actually original games. Read More...

Wii DLC for the Week of 3/9
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 11th of March 2009 - 04:17 AM ]
Hey there kids, it's time for your weekly Wii wrap up.  Even though we're only being graced with one WiiWare and one Virtual Console release this week, your selection improves to help you erase the taste of Family&Friends Party Time Game Thing from last week.  As the one'n'one combination sadly becomes the standard for the Monday DLC drop, I find it interesting that even in this week's press release is referenced your growing library of games in your "refridgerator" when we have yet to receive any new information on a storage solution for the little white box. This week you get two old school games: one retro platformer from a retired mascot and one retro-styled side-scrolling shooter.  Whether it's nostalgia for the Master System or the arcades, you might have a reason to hit up the Wii Shop Channel this week. Look Ma, No Hands
by Brian Bentley [ Saturday, 7th of March 2009 - 11:43 PM ]
Gaming news and events here in the City of Cincinnati happen about as often as the city’s professional sports teams have a winning season.  So, when I saw we reported that the Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars van tour was making a stop on the north side of the city, I knew I wanted to put my hands on the game and create a nice article to post here on Pwned.com. You may remember last year’s E3, during Nintendo’s press conference, watching Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Cammie Dunaway using the Wii Balance Board to “snowboard” in a business suit with Shaun White nearby looking like a tool. The Organizers Target Us With More Shots
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 6th of March 2009 - 05:55 PM ]
More To View On Platinum Games' Mad World With the launch of this game just around the corner, as in a few days (March 10th), the people over at Sega and Platinum Games have decided to tantalize all of us who are waiting for this game with some more in game shots. Which is odd because you would think there would be another launch video to get everyone pumped about this Wii Hack 'n Slash full of blood and gore. But beggars can't be choosers I guess. Even though it is all in Black, White, and Red they still make this game to look like yet another hidden classic on the Wii. Read More...

Wii DLC for the Week of 3/2
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 4th of March 2009 - 03:58 AM ]
After a big week last week releasing four games, Nintendo gears back down to its normal conservative self.  This week in Wii DLC we have a game for everyone and a game for one.  For everyone in your household we have Gammick Entertainment's Family&Friends Party.  After searching their site extensively and finding no trace of the game, I had to rely on on Nintendo's exciting trailer.  You may not have family or friends to play with when they find out you spent 1,000 Wii Points on this game.On the flip side of the coin, on Virtual Console, is another Square Enix RPG from the Super NES days: Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen. Did You Google Swinging Video
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 25th of February 2009 - 09:15 PM ]
Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop Webisode 2 So if two day is too long to wait for a chance to try out the motion controls for Capcom's new Dead Rising game, they have brought out another of those fun little videos showing you the controls for the game. This time it shows off how to attack with any of the melee weapons you can pick up in the game. As we know there are a lot of random things like this in this franchise. As you guessed it, it really just comes down to waving the WiiMote to swing the weapon at your targets. Read More...

Sony Unviels New PSP Color/Package, An OpEd
by Ben Brody [ Wednesday, 25th of February 2009 - 06:42 AM ]
Opinion Editorial, By Ben BrodySony, looking to chip away at teenage girls's fascinations with the Nintendo DS, announced a fancy new PSP Pack. The Pink PSP. It'll come with a lilac (let's face it, it's pink) colored PSP-3000, a Hannah Montana game, and a 2gb Memory stick preloaded with a few Hannah Montana episodes. While I don't exactly think there's anything wrong with the PSP it seems to me that the market they are trying to corner is going to always go with the DS when they realize that the most "girly" PSP game that exists is called Ratchet and Clank Size Matters. It's slated to hit shelves in July. Read More...

Wii DLC for the Week of 2/23
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 25th of February 2009 - 05:17 AM ]
Hinted at last week in their press release, Nintendo released three Commodore 64 games on the Virtual Console this past Monday.  While this is not necessarily news to our friends across the pond, this is a first for those of us in North America.  The 500 Wii Points per game seems a little steep to me, but it's Nintendo and heaven forbid they sell something for less then 500 Wii Points because who knows, perhaps people will begin expecting to purchase a game only paying what it is worth.  I have a lot of fond memories over at my friend, Jason's house playing Commodore 64, but unless they release Summer Games or Winter Games, that price point is too high for me.Besides the Virtual Console releases, Wii Ware also had one release. New Dead Rising™: Chop Till You Drop! Webisode Interested in seeing how the controls for the Wii version of Dead Rising will handle? Don't want to wait and just see it now? Well then your prayers are answered. By Capcom and myself, for posting the video for you. With a bit of LittleBigPlanet tutorial style to boot. Below you will see a very tongue-in-cheek video showing off the controls for how to fire any weapon in the game. At least any of the firearm weapons in the game. Read More...

Nintendo DSi to Launch on April 5th
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 19th of February 2009 - 05:05 AM ]
Announced today by Nintendo, the third iteration of the DS will hit store shelves in less than two months.  A lot of excitement has been building around the DSi for it's ability to download and store software from the DSi Store, which will be similar to the Wii Shop Channel.  The DSi will also feature dual cameras (one pointed towards you, the other pointed out) and an SD card slot.  It will be slimmer than the DS Lite since they removed the Game Boy Advance slot.  It will come at launch in Blue and Black and sport a nice $169. Wii DLC for the Week of 2/16
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 19th of February 2009 - 02:15 AM ]
A little late is better than never.  The next batch of Wii DLC hit this past Monday with one Wii Ware title and one Virtual Console title.  There is a surprise wrapped up in the update this week if you're crafty enough to piece together the clues.  A good luck to all our super sleuths and to those who continue to have patience waiting for Earthbound to drop... Outer space meets inner space at the Wii Shop Channel this Presidents Day. A new WiiWare title will have you soaring across the astral plane, while a vintage NES shooter for the Virtual Console invites you to battle your way through the innards of an alien creature. Extracting More Story From Dead Space
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 18th of February 2009 - 04:35 PM ]
EA Announces Dead Space Extraction Exclusive for the Wii Not to long ago it was brought up that there was going to be a Wii port of Dead Space. Well this was only partial true and based off of reports from an interview. But today came the full on announcement about the Wii version of the game, or should I say the Wii prequel to the game. Yes, it'll be kind of like Resident Evil 0 on the GameCube for the game that came on so strong for the PS3, XBox, and PC. Dead Space: Extraction will be the story leading up to the opening of Dead Space. Read More...

Virtua Tennis 2009 to be Released on Wii
by Brian Bentley [ Saturday, 14th of February 2009 - 02:28 PM ]
Sega announced yesterday in a press release that their best selling tennis series Virtua Tennis will be hitting store shelves in May 2009, that includes on the Nintendo Wii.  Before you Wii owners (myself included) start dreaming of Wii Sports tennis, only more responsive and on a grander scale, I caution you that they have not released any information on how the Wii's "unique" controls will factor into the game mechanics.  I am a little frightened that the Vice President of Marketing, Sean Radcliffe, chose the "Court Games" as the feature he wished to highlight for the Wii.   The last thing this console needs is another mini-game affair attached to wagglefest main feature. Mario & Sonic Going Olympic Again
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 12th of February 2009 - 03:47 PM ]
In an age of sequels and cashing in, it is no surprise that Mario&Sonic will be returning to the Nintendo Wii and DS later this year.  Already leaked two days ago, today Sega and Nintendo jointly announced the great duo's return to Olympic competition.  I am sure that also returning with this installment will be a lot of waggle and sore arms.  The press release mentions use of the balance board which will be an improvement for certain, but here's hoping they also implement Wii Motion Plus for more accurate gameplay.  No screens or gameplay as of yet, but you can view the trailer now on their launch site.
