Comic Con Impressions: Twisted Metal
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 2nd of August 2010 - 06:36 PM ]
Ever since it was announced at E3 that there would finally be a Twisted Metal making its debut on the PS3, I have been waiting ever so patiently for a really good showing of what the people over at Eat Sleep Play have accomplished - outside of the demo they had and modes announced. Perhaps reveal some story, game play modes or other characters. All those were all strongly touched on by David Jaffe at this year's Comic Con. This included showing a few behind-the-scenes views of the "cut scenes" they will be using for Twisted Metal. Read More...

Comic Con Day 4: The Final Let Down
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 30th of July 2010 - 05:29 PM ]
Ah, Day Four. It usually is the most depressing day of the entire convention. The day to look back and remember how great the con was, as well as to mourn the fact that you have to make the journey home and wait another year. It is also the same day that one can usually wander and find all of those people who were talking the days before in panels and have some kind of in-depth conversation as most don't know who they are without the place cards of the panels. Well unlike before, it seems that all those who mattered and not the flesh craved PR of the companies had the bright idea of going home a day early. Maybe the stabbing scared them off. Read More...

Comic Con Day 3: Rated M For Mature
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 30th of July 2010 - 03:20 PM ]
With the new age zombie plague starting with all the brain dead people wandering about the convention, you could only imagine where things could have progressed from there. Well maybe not imagine, but know if you have any knowledge on how the zombie plague works. People finally regressed to their base needs and wants, sex and violence. Let's start with the sex part of their degradation. Just like at almost every other "geek" or "nerd" convention out there, sans PAX, there are booth babes. Read More...

Comic Con Day 2: Night Of The Living Retardababy
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 29th of July 2010 - 10:33 PM ]
After having a bit of time to cool off about all of the events of the prior day, and receiving a few PR-like responses to messages about having issues with booth people, I trudged my way back to the convention space. It was truly a difficult thing to have to do after the abysmal treatment received the day before, but Friday was the day of the first big panel I needed to attend. That panel being Twisted Metal, but that comes later. The day was already off to a good start with almost being mugged for my Pop Tart by a sparrow and a good laugh being had by all. Read More...

Comic Con Day 1: Getting The Shaft
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 29th of July 2010 - 08:21 PM ]
After the abysmal and short night for my "preview," came the first full day of Comic Con. The first day to try and find out the details on games companies were not yet ready to disclose to the public at E3. Or details that would gain better exposure at Comic Con. Like some of the announcements given around comic-based games like Spider Man: Shattered Dimensions and DC Universe Online. Makes sense that they would want to hold off for the comic fans. Armed with the knowledge of some of these announcements, I made off for their booths. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 29th of July 2010 - 02:51 PM ]
Comic Con 2010 has come and gone. You may have been there. You may have missed out, well you would have if you had not followed my twitter updates. Now is the perennial looking back in retrospect. Like years past, they will be spread out over multiple articles. There is too much to fit in one article so it deserves proper treatment. So sit back and get ready for one long flash of what Comic Con has become. As most of you who have clicked in here know, the festivities start off with an exclusive event for the true fans that purchased their passes upwards of a year in advance - well, the fans, and media. Slim XBox 360 Arcade Coming In August
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 14th of July 2010 - 08:59 PM ]
It wasn't that long ago (*cough*...E3...*cough*) that Microsoft announced its latest XBox redesign - the Xbox 360 Slim. Well, news has been flying around that an Arcade version of the XBox 360 Slim is getting an August release date along with some even slimmer hardware. According to German Amazon.com, the XBox 360 Slim Arcade is slated for an August 20th release date, and will come with only 4GB of storage space (no news on wireless capabilities yet). Contrary to the recent inception of the XBox 360 Slim which only comes in a 250GB hard drive option. The new XBox Slim Arcade seems like it could possibly support some sort of flash memory or other small storage device as an option. Read More...

E3 2010: Sights And Sounds
by Binh Nguyen [ Tuesday, 29th of June 2010 - 06:54 PM ]
It has been over a week now since E3 closed its doors. Since then I have been pouring over the many pictures I snapped - from the Activision Party to the Nintendo and Sony presser to everything else in between. I also managed to film some of the Method Man and Redman concert at the Konami booth. You may think it is all fun and games when you are at E3, and at times can be, but it is also a lot of hard work. We work tirelessly to bring you the latest news, impressions and hands-on articles as quickly as we can. We also met a lot of great people and miss the ones we didn't get a chance to meet up with. E3 2010 Hands On: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
by Binh Nguyen [ Monday, 28th of June 2010 - 04:31 PM ]
At E3 2009 Konami showed a trailer, for the first time, for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. Needless to say, it took nearly everyone by surprised. A year later Konami showcased the game with a playable demo. I wasn't able to play the full length of the game but I still played long enough to talk about what I played. The demo started off in the rainy village, where Gabriel has come to find leads about the whereabouts of a powerful unnamed entity. As Gabriel rides up on his horse he is sees villagers leaving the town. Read More...

E3 2010: Getting our Move on
by Brian Bentley [ Sunday, 27th of June 2010 - 04:27 AM ]
After witnessing the success of the Nintendo Wii, the market for games using motion control steamed up at last year’s E3 with the announcement of Microsoft’s Natal Kinect and Sony’s Playstation Move.  Fast-forward a year to this year’s E3 and to Sony’s booth where Binh and I were able to spend a little time with the Playstation Move.  Let the waggle begin. With a lot of E3 focused on either 3D gaming or motion control, Sony’s Eyepet gives you plenty of both. E3 2010 Hands-On: Mafia 2
by Binh Nguyen [ Saturday, 26th of June 2010 - 09:55 PM ]
At E3 2009, when 2K Games made their announcement about making a sequel for Mafia, I was excited on the idea. That excitement grew after playing the demo for the first time at PAX East in Boston. I wanted to play more. A year later, once again 2K Games is showcasing Mafia 2. This time with a much longer hands-on demo of the game. The demo began with you playing as Vito. You are making your way towards the phone as it's ringing off the hook in a '50's house in a typical suburban surrounding. Read More...

I'm Getting A Call From Naughty Bear
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 25th of June 2010 - 11:47 PM ]
With all the hulabaloo from E3, I almost lost sight of one of this year's titles that I have personally been excited for. That game being Naughty Bear. Yes I did get some hands on, but it looks like the little bugger tried slipping a few new clips and a trailer past me before I could take a look at them to ensure my rules have not been further plagiarized. Wait, three new videos? You cheeky monkey. Read More...

Hunted: The Demons Forge
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 25th of June 2010 - 03:38 PM ]
Dungeon crawlers are making a comeback in this current over-saturation of first person shooters. One of the newest titles announced from Bethesda Softworks, and publisher inExile Entertainment is Hunted: The Demons Forge. This new title is built around the Unreal 3 Engine, and it looks amazing. Focusing on exploration, cover-based combat, puzzles and co-op play, all from a third person perspective, this looks like a must have title for any player that wanted to just rock hordes of monsters with their buddy. Hunted: The Demons Forge comes to life in a third-person dungeon crawl with the intensity and action of a modern-day shooter. For those that don't know inExile entertainment was founded back in 2003 by Brian Fargo. Read More...

E3 2010 Impressions: Mortal Kombat
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 24th of June 2010 - 09:13 PM ]
As surprises come, a revitalization of Mortal Kombat was one thing I was not expecting until just before E3. You know when the crazy short popped up online followed by the new teaser trailer for Mortal Kombat. You know what I am talking about. If you didn't you would not have clicked on this article. With all that buzz just days before the event you would expect to have something to show at E3 for it, and boy did they. Nothing playable for anyone on the show floor, but those lucky enough to have a meeting or willing to stand in line for over an hour to get in to the 15 minute showing got a great glimpse of what is going on with the new Mortal Kombat game.
