Toxic Crusaders
New footage for Toxic Crusaders is finally here, with the pending release of Toxic Crusaders coming soon
It feels as if it has been forever since we had anything for Toxic Crusaders coming to us, in terms of the gameplay. We have the full album for the game to listen to, but Retroware seems to have needed a lot more time to make sure that the game was flowing well. Well, they still need more time, as there is not a new release date for Toxic Crusaders after waiting a year to get out there already. What we do have, though, is a lot of new gameplay to remind us that the game is still in the works and we could see it by the end of the year. If not, we still do have the soundtrack for the game to rock out with Psychostick, bringing the music to us all. For now, let us see what the gameplay is starting to look like.
While we do have a nice run on the gameplay for Toxic Crusaders, sadly, it is not much in the way of something we have yet to see for the game. Sure, we are seeing new levels and fighters running around, so this is not just a rehashing of old footage, but there is not much that is truly new. It is all of the classic beat-'em-up combat and the various characters from the IP's full run in the mix of the fight. All with the same pounding music that we have heard many times over. Not a terrible thing, but for those who have been counting the days for Toxic Crusaders, it is nothing to write home about. Just a solid sign that the game is not dead in the water, and there is still hope to be able to get four friends together to play it all. Then, maybe, we will get to see and hear how we beat the game while the credits roll. We will just have to wait until that time comes.
Toxic Crusaders — Gameplay Showcase
The radioactive purveyors of pixelated nostalgia at Retroware cracked open a fresh, festering 50-gallon drum of footage during the MIX Fall Online Showcase, debuting a brand new gameplay trailer for the studio’s highly anticipated beat-’em-up, Toxic Crusaders, which is slugging its way onto all modern platforms and PC via Steam soon.
The new trailer serves up a heaping helping of coin-op-inspired action, plucked straight from the most beloved brawlers of the 1990s. Watch as the Toxic Crusaders Toxie, Nozone, Junkyard, Major Disaster, Headbanger, Yvonne, and Mrs. Junko scrub Dr. Killemoff’s Radiation Rangers off the streets of Tromaville in the footage below.
Key Features:
- Unleash Co-op Carnage: Relive the glory days of arcade beat-’em-ups and mop up Dr. Killemoff’s Radiation Rangers with up to four players simultaneously.
- Myriad Mutants: Take to the streets of Tromaville with seven playable pugilists, each with their own unique abilities, including Toxie, Nozone, Junkyard, Major Disaster, Headbanger, Yvonne, and Mrs. Junko.
- A Saturday Morning Slugfest: Punch, kick, and mop your way through an all-new story crafted to continue the narrative of the 1991 cartoon series, which only aired for one season.
- Intoxicating Visuals: Vibrant backgrounds and eye-popping character sprites combine to bring Toxic Crusaders’ Saturday morning cartoon world to life.
Toxic Crusaders is coming soon to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Did you get excited to see more for Toxic Crusaders, or was it a bit of a letdown that we do not have a new release date from the one for last year? Will there be a whole lot more added into the game that we have yet to know, or will there be some other reason that we have had such a delay? Have you listened to the soundtrack that is out there yet, and will it still be new for us all when the game does finally launch on all of the platforms out there? Let us have that discussion in the comment section of the page here. We are still looking forward to Toxic Crusaders after all of this time, and expect to have more for you on the website when we have anything. Please watch for it here, and follow along on all of our social channels to see when it all pops off out there. You will be glad you did; with how little they have been teasing us with before now.
