SPINE Is Getting Installed On Us All In The Summer Of 2027

SPINE

The release window for SPINE is now set down, and we will be able to play with this new SPINE next summer

It feels like SPINE lands in the zeitgeist and then falls off so often, but that does not mean the game is still not coming. In fact, during gamescom, we had a small announcement pop up from Nekki in the middle of it all, so it could bring out more for the game. Not just in the way of a new video to look at, which we have below, but also in the way of when we can expect the Gun Fu title to hit the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC. It is not any time truly soon, but still something to mark down and get further excited for SPINE out there. As long as you can hold out to attach this game to yourself in the Summer of 2027. That is the current release window after all of this time, so let us all start to get further excited.

While not the greatest of timelines to look at for SPINE, it is something to mark down. To help with that wait, though, we have a new look at the game and some of the gameplay that we are going to have when it does finally drop out there. There is a little bit of the cinematic to give us a taste of the cyberpunk world we are going to enter, along with a bit of the gunplay that we can expect to have to perfect if we are going to make it through all of the hardships. Especially after we install the Spine implant to help with all of the insanity that we are going to be dropping on the world to rebel against all of the enemies out there who are coming for us. A small task, sure, but one that looks like it is going to be a blast to play out when all is said and done. Let us all have a look at the latest for the game so we can be teased until the drop next summer.

SPINE — Release Window Announcement

Nekki revealed new key art and a new gameplay trailer for their cinematic Gun Fu action game SPINE and announced SPINE will launch for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in summer 2027.

In Tensor City – a technocratic megacity built by an AI so humanity could survive the ecological collapse of the world outside — your value is a number. The Social Rating decides who eats, who works, and who gets thrown away, splitting the city between the gleaming New City above and the rotting Old City below. Redline, a rebel street artist, scrapes by in the slums, until a mafia heist goes wrong and costs her everything – including her brother.

Step into a stunning cyberpunk world with rebellious street artist Redline and her sentient combat implant Spine as they defy the autocratic AI regime in search of Redline's captured brother.

SPINE features Freeflow Gun Fu combat, with camerawork and combat choreography by action movie stunt specialists. It is powered by Unreal Engine 5 and Nekki’s original animation engine, Cascadeur, making players the star of their own action movie where no two fights are the same.

SPINE features:

  • Movie-Like ExperienceSPINE puts players inside the action with a dynamic combat camera that makes every fight feel like a movie, without ever stealing control from players.
  • Innovative Combat – A thrilling fusion of cinematic gunplay and Freeflow Gun Fu beat 'em up. Dive into the chaos of SPINE's combat, where every move is a dance between gunfire and raw, close-quarters bullet mayhem. It's not just a game; it's an artistic canvas for your own style of destruction.
  • Unrivaled Atmosphere – Dive into an action-packed narrative set against the backdrop of a captivating cyberpunk world. Explore the contrast between the gleaming, utopian facades and the gritty, decaying alleyways, as each location becomes a stage for adrenaline-fueled gunfights.
  • Gripping Narrative – Embark on a gritty journey into the near-future with Redline, a rebellious street artist, and her AI companion, Spine — a combat implant with a mind of its own. Together, they stand against an oppressive AI regime, and every fight they have sends ripples through the streets they navigate, changing the lives of the people they meet.

Are you going to be able to make it that long to play SPINE, or does it fall off the radar so often that it will be a great surprise when it is ready to drop on us? How often will we go into the cinematic mode of the game, and will there be more of the gunplay along the line for us to expect? How hard is it going to be to make sure we keep the flow out there in the game, and will there be a lower bar to entry to make sure gamers are fully ready? Let us discuss all that we can for the game down in the comment section of the page. We will bring whatever we can for SPINE as soon as it drops. Just make certain you are watching the website and following all of our social channels to ensure that you are not missing out on any of the fun updates that we are going to have for this title.
