Candy Land
The fun of Candy Land is coming to life before, during, and after SDCC 2026 with the Candy Land Café
Another of those famed board game properties is coming to life, with the announcement of the Candy Land Café. A nice little bit of fun that will get us further into the sweet fun that Hasbro has been carrying for decades now. I am fairly certain that there are very few people out there who don't have any clue about this famed board game, so it feels about right that they are going to hit us all with that nostalgia. Even if this will be a limited engagement thing starting on July 9th and running in San Diego, CA. The reason we are even bringing this up is that, given that this is the same company that held the Malibu Barbie Café during SDCC, and how they have run their other big nostalgic experiences, it is highly likely that the Candy Land Café will also be given the same treatment. Fun news for board gamers and those who can make it out to San Diego, CA. Not to mention, the Malibu Barbie Café did run in other towns, so this could be something that expands out further as Bucket Listers have shown they are open to doing.
While we're still waiting to get pricing or the chance to snag tickets to go to the Candy Land Café, we can dig further into what it is aiming to offer fans of the game and candy. As one would assume, the facility will be given a fun makeover to fit the candy themes from the game, along with some fun photo opportunities that are all the rage with these things. In addition to all of that, there will be some fun activities to follow along with when going into the new land. Specifically, there will be a cookie decorating station to allow us to make our own sweets in the Café. This is also going to be a functioning Café, so do expect that there will be themed fast-casual food options at the Candy Land Café, as well as the fun little merch that one can expect with these things. Having gone to the Malibu Barbie and Back To The '80s experiences from them before, I will go on a limb and say that the price of admission will be built into scoring some of the food, drinks, or extras, but that is all to be determined once tickets go on sale. Think along the lines of a drink ticket or food credit as part of the cost. Given that it is under 2 months away, I'm sure we can expect this to happen soon, with the passes during SDCC to fly off the shelves fairly quickly, so get ready for all of that.
San Diego is about to get a whole lot sweeter! Bucket Listers, the media experiences brand known for turning everyday moments into unforgettable adventures, today announces the launch of the first-ever Candy Land Café — a limited-time interactive dining experience opening in San Diego July 9th in collaboration with Hasbro, a leading games, IP and toy company.
For the first time ever, fans can step inside a real-life version of the popular board game, exploring a colorful, candy-coated world brought to life with immersive sets, interactive moments, and a menu designed to match the magic of Candy Land. Following the success of Bucket Listers’ previous sold-out experiences, the project is led by Derek Berry, President of Experiences, the creative force behind pop culture hits like The Golden Girls Christmas, The Malibu Barbie Cafe, and Saved by The Max.
Running for a limited time, the pop-up invites guests to journey through interactive environments inspired by the game, including King Kandy’s Castle, and Jolly’s Gumdrop Mountains—all designed with vibrant colors, oversized candy elements, and photo-ready moments around every corner.
The experience is also packed with activities for all ages, including a Sweet Adventure Checklist that guides guests through the space, including a DIY cookie decorating station. From winding Candy Land paths to towering candy castles, the experience transforms a nostalgic favorite into a candy-coated oasis perfect for families, date nights, and summer outings with friends.
The fast-casual menu leans into the whimsical, featuring craveable comfort food with a sweet twist—think rainbow burgers, chocolate BBQ sliders, over-the-top milkshakes, and a shareable “Chocolate River” fondue experience. Drinks, both zero-proof and cocktails, bring even more fun with colorful, interactive elements designed for group sharing.
Tickets for the restaurant will be available exclusively through Bucket Listers, join the waitlist and receive first notification of tickets going on sale.
Have you experienced any of the Bucket Listers events before now? Do you think that Candy Land will be the best option for the nostalgia kick that these all go for? What else will there be to do in the event outside of the food, cookies, and photos? Would you want to play a full-sized version of the game to move about the experience? Let's talk it all out and see where this all sits with each of us. Given that the Candy Land Café is going to be fairly limited, due to time and location, we'll try to update you all as best as we can. Given that it could be happening during SDCC this year, we'll also try to check it out as part of our usual convention coverage. So, please keep checking in and following all of our socials to make sure you are up to speed on all of this. You won't want to miss out on the fun and nostalgia of it all.
