Gather Around The Table To Face Off With Some New Side Effects

Side Effects

The launch of Side Effects is here and ready for us all to face each other at the table to survive the various Side Effects

It is time to start taking all of those crazy pills out there with the launch of Side Effects. A fitting launch with how the seasons are going here, and the holiday that is about to hit part of the world. I'd like to think that was part of the plan from Free Lives, but I know it is just a solid timeline to get the game on the PC before the end of the year. Something that the team has now done, with Side Effects out there and ready for us to try to outlive each other. Almost like we will have to do as the Americans gather around their tables for the holiday of gluttony and dealing with family that you only see once a year. I think I'd rather go with the crazy pills instead…

To help recap what Side Effects is before you head out there and give the game a go, we have a new little video to showcase it all. This is a "pill roulette" game, where four players will sit around a table and take turns taking random pills. Some will cause harm, and others will kill our character right away. Between rounds, and to help some survival, players of Side Effects will have the chance to inject various things into themselves or undergo some random other bits of torture to make sure their bodies are fully ready for the next wave. Some of these things look and feel like they would be pulled right out of the latest torture porn films. All of this to make sure we are the last one alive so we can go through it all again. A solid little concept and a title that could be fun for the whole family, if you have a family that is rather chill about a whole lot of weird things.

Side Effects — Launch Trailer

Side Effects has launched on Steam!

A twisted trial of pill roulette for up to 4 players (solo or online). Pick your poison. Use experimental items to shift the odds. And remember: only one of you can survive.

Welcome to Side Effects: a tense, turn-based medical roulette game. Each round, you’ll be presented with a selection of pills. Some are helpful, some are harmful, and some mean instant death. You never know what you’re about to consume or what it might do to your mind or body. Winning means outlasting – AKA, outliving – your opponent across the table.

Side Effects can be played in single-player or online with up to 4 players.

Resist

Every pill impacts your resistance. Manage it wisely: zero resistance means death.

Experiment

Between rounds, you can choose from a range of experimental items and treatments that can shift the odds in your favor, from vaccines to mouth clamps.

You’re not alone

The other patient wants to outlast you. They’ll bluff, adapt, and use everything at their disposal to keep breathing one dose longer than you.

Would you like to participate?

The full version of the game will include:

  • Single player mode
  • Free Healthcare (endless mode)
  • Multiplayer mode (2-4 players!)
  • 20+ unique items
  • 6 pill types to test

Have you been playing with these Side Effects already? Do you think this is going to be a fun party game for many to give a go? Why do you think we are going to willingly torture ourselves in the game to get little perks? Will we ever get to see this title make its way onto other platforms? Let's discuss all of that in the comment section. Now that Side Effects is out there, we might not have much more to look forward to for the game. If we have any updates, we'll add them to the site and our socials, so please follow along on all of them. Then you won't miss a single bit and have a solid distraction from all of the "tradition" that is crammed down our throats each year.
