VGL Rocks Again
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 31st of July 2008 - 08:57 PM ]
VIDEO GAMES LIVE ALBUM DEBUTS AT #10 ON THE BILLBOARD CHARTS! So I was going to write another review on the Comic Con Video Games Live show, but I saw this and thought this was a better way to say how cool it was. I will point out that it is a different show depending on where you see it, the show in San Diego had fireworks and a different game they played on stage. Not to mention the Cos-Play of the people adding to the whole thing. Pics are below. Read More…

Something For The Cranky Dwarf In All Of Us
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 31st of July 2008 - 07:55 PM ]
American McGee's Grimm: A Boy Learns What Fear Is I know I like free stuff. I also like vidja games. What could be better than Free Vidja Games? Right? Well I guess ones about a twisted version of the fairy tales we all grew to love. Even though the originals were twisted in the first place, but I digest... It would seem that today marks the first release of the new American McGee game, Grimm. You may know his work for twisting up Alice in Wonderland a few years back. Read More…

Trophies For Another Game
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 31st of July 2008 - 04:47 PM ]
PixelJunk Eden: Oh Glorious Gardens...and Did We Mention Trophies? So it looks like last night on the PSBlog, a little bit was posted on the new PSN game PixelJunk Eden. To be perfectly honest, I haven't tried the first version of this game and most likely won't try this one. Just doesn't look like my kind of game. But I thought it was worth a mention. Now, I bet you are thinking to yourself "Why the fuck even bring this up then? Read More…

Sum Up Of E3 Under 6 Minutes
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 30th of July 2008 - 08:38 PM ]
Zero Punctuation Take On E3 Since I am a man of my word and like to tell you all about things that most of you probably know about, I'll be hitting this up as they get updated as well. The quick and dirty of it, is this guy does some great reviews and rants about games today. Granted, I have only seen on review where he praise the game 100%, but it always good for a laugh and see what others think. This week's video is about how bad this year's E3 was. Boy do I agree with most of the points here. Read More…

Is Activision Blizzard canning games?
by Nikole [ Tuesday, 29th of July 2008 - 08:35 PM ]
The newly formed duo of Activision Blizzard has presented there schedule of releases. While many titles were mentioned, several highly publicized games received none whatsoever. Terminal Reality, 50 Cent: Blood in the Sand and most notably: Ghostbusters, were all absent from the list. The lack of these titles, as well as massive "realignments" with the staff of High Moon Studio and Radical Entertainment, is leading many to wonder if some titles and studios are being dropped because of the merger. It is already known that Massive Entertainment and Swordfish Studios are being considered for sale or closure at this time. The situation was made even more grim when the company released information stating several titles would be dropped. Read More…

WoW And The Real Life
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 28th of July 2008 - 11:07 PM ]
The Guild: DVD Being a man of my word *best Joker Impression*, on two fronts, I had to post something about this great Web series as well as their new DVD on sale at Comic Con, or you can get as of 8/1. First, I got asked by people here to make sure that the actors of the show knew about our site here. After three days of stalking them (pics below), I was having issues getting proper representation for the site, but I hooked them up with a professional implementation of advertisement. The other part, I told Felicia, Vincent and Sandeep that I would give them some webtime. Read More…

Gears of War 2: Linked Achievements
by Nikole [ Monday, 28th of July 2008 - 10:03 PM ]
In Gears of War 2 news, the people of Epic seem to really understand their audience. Epic loves us for exactly what we are, a bunch of achievement whores. Now while some people may be above spending time going through games solely to raise their gamer score, most of us are not. Epic has created a whole new type of achievement system, called "linked" achievements. Linked Achievements occur when someone obtains an achievement in the first game(Gears of War), this then unlocks new content in the second game(Gears of War 2). Some examples of this are:- Complete Act One in Gears Of War, unlock a playable Anthony Carmine in Gears of War 2- Find 10 COG tags in Gears Of War, unlock Minh Young Kim in Gears of War 2- Kill Raam in Gears Of War, unlock a playable Raam in Gears of War 2According to xboxfocus. Set Phasers To MMO
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 28th of July 2008 - 08:59 PM ]
Star Trek Online So I frequent the Cryptic Studios stuff now and again, forums and booths at conventions. Hell, on Saturday, I even went to their VIP party for City of Heroes players and Devs. Please don't ask how it was. But this was something that kind of caught me off guard. In fact, I didn't know it was under their belt until today when they turned on their interwebs for the game sit and posted screen shots. The game? Well the title said it, Star Trek Online. They Are Arising
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 28th of July 2008 - 08:19 PM ]
Rise Of The Argonauts First let me thank Mythicgriffon for hooking up this video as well as being there when we did our own little interview with this same guy. He was very knowledgeable about a lot of things and nice enough to entertain us for about an hour or so. No more gilding the lilly though. I brought this up a while back when I first heard about this game from Codemasters. It was so cool to see another of the few games out there that revolve around Greek religion and stories. Event-Ghosts-of-Aliens
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 28th of July 2008 - 06:17 PM ]
More On Dead Space I will apologize now if my next few news articles come straight out of Comic-Con 2008 or tie ins. I was way to busy to keep things up to date while I was there, but I will do my best to get it all out there in my personal Blogs and here as well. That aside... This is some new stuff I caught on this very much hyped game from EA. They had a spectacular booth and panel for this game. With a dude in the full on armor shown in the trailers. Read More…

Degenerating From Comic Con
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 28th of July 2008 - 05:04 PM ]
New RE:D Trailer So this was one of the coolest things I got to see while at Comic-Con this year. It is quite a bit more of the new Resident Evil movie that they are doing. Unfortunately, it is a "Pirated" video that someone took. I was actually sitting not to far from the camera guy here. I've tried listening for my WOOO when Leon first comes on screen, but I get blended in. A little bit that they don't show in the clip but was revealed at the panel was that this is kind of a continuation of the 4th game. It has the characters of RE2, but it picks up after the events of RE4. Read More…

Warhammer Online Beginning to Look a Bit Grim
by Robert [ Sunday, 27th of July 2008 - 05:50 PM ]
The beta for Warhammer Online is beginning to look a little grim; with major content cutbacks that will affect the release I'm sure. This month Warhammer online took out FOUR major cities and FOUR classes... that is BIG. Warhammer Online is the upcoming major competitor for the reigning champion of MMO's, World of Warcraft and with a cut back this big it is either a really really good thing or a really really bad thing. With Age of Conan slowly (but trust me it's not at all yet) falling off a bit, Warhammer Online really needs to step it up and take advantage. The content cuts may be a good thing; maybe the developers realized they need to focus their manpower on a smaller amount of content, but at the same time that could be a bad sign... Read More…
