She's Baaaack!!
by Binh Nguyen [ Friday, 14th of August 2009 - 03:09 PM ]
With World of Warcraft's 5 year anniversary coming up, Blizzard is releasing another content patch, numbered 3.2.2. What is the big change? Nothing major but to bring back the biggest bitch of the game, Onyxia. Why Onyxia you may ask? Well she was the most iconic beast in the game when the game was still fresh and new. One of the hardest Raid boss to take down, even when a group of 40 players would have a tough time taking her down. On August 12th Zarhym one of the Blues in the forums announced that for the 5 year Anniversary of the game that Onyxia will be converted to a 10 and 25 man raid. Read More...

Can't Gamers Play With Themselves Anymore?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 13th of August 2009 - 07:48 PM ]
Multiplayer: The Book Burning Generation The other night I was driving home at 1 am with the God of War soundtrack playing in the car. As the game music, with mixed in audio clips from the game, was playing through my car speakers, I began to think on how truly epic the story of this game was. Not epic as in awesome, even though it is, but more in lines of how it actually fell in line with the Epic writings of the Greeks. Think the Odyssey and Iliad for what I mean. It soon sparked in my head on how games like this are looking to be a bit more few and far between in the current state of things. Read More...

New World of Warcraft Expansion Name and Races Leaked
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 10th of August 2009 - 08:04 PM ]
World of Warcraft: Oh how you can send a community into a frenzy just by leaking a tiny bit of information. WoW.com is reporting that, through multiple sources, they have discovered the name of the new World of Warcraft expansion as well as the new races that will be populating Azeroth. This new data leak comes two weeks before Blizzcon. Where I am sure they were going to announce something along these lines. The new expansion name will be called World of Warcraft: Cataclysm and the two new races will be Worgen for Alliance and Goblins for Horde. Read More...

Nintendo DLC for 8/10: Fly, Climb, Think and use the Force
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 10th of August 2009 - 04:11 PM ]
Every Monday I look forward to Nintendo's release of WiiWare, Virtual Console and DSiWare titles. I might be the only one now. In the recent weeks, the pickings have been mighty slim. So slim in fact, I feel sorry for people who purchased a DSi in hopes of purchasing and downloading quality software over the DSiWare Channel. I had thought to make a weekly column based on the Big N's DLC, but when a decent release only occurs once a month, there isn't much to report. I would like to write that everything this week is stellar, but that just isn't true. Read More...

Dragon Age Origins Delayed
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 10th of August 2009 - 02:44 AM ]
Alas, for all those Dragon Age fans out there, we have a bit of bad news. Bioware and EA have announced that Dragon Age: Origins is being delayed. It's not so bad just a matter of days. It will be delayed from October 20th to November 3rd. A little bit of an oddity is that the PC and Xbox 360 versions have been pushed back but they have not released a date for the PS3 version. There has been no real reason for the date change or what is happening with the PS3 version. All we know is that the PS3 version will be out "later in November". Read More...

Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 3 Makes a Splash
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 6th of August 2009 - 09:14 PM ]
With the third map pack for Call of Duty: World at War dropping today on the PSN and XBox Live Marketplace today, I think it's about time console shooter fans finally cut Treyarch some slack. They have really supported the crap out of this game during the post-release lifecycle, this time with multiplayer maps, a zombie map and new achievements/trophies. After selling over 11 million copies of the game and over 4 million downloads, they could very easily just sit on their laurels and rake the cash in. Instead, they are continuing their support of this game with another release of new content. Read More...

Comic Con Issue #4
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 3rd of August 2009 - 11:18 PM ]
Sunday: The Day of Rest...Kind of Given that this day should have been the lazy day, not Saturday, it is no surprise that the final day was even more lazy with a little bit of violence mixed in. Even though it was the day with the least going on, as has always been the case. But it did lead to a few interesting lessons learned about humans. They'll do anything for free stuff and most won't back up big talk when their bluff is called. Sunday was the day with only one thing on the agenda, get a good very public hands on with Lego Rock Band. Read More...

Comic Con '09 Hands-On Impressions Dragon Age: Origins
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 29th of July 2009 - 11:23 PM ]
After a short walk from the San Diego Convention center to the Hilton Gas Lamp, I found myself standing in line to play one of the most anticipated games this year at the EA games lounge. I received some free swag (blow up sword!) to get my excitement pumped up until I walked in the double doors and made a quick left to a PC version of Dragon Age: Origins. Just my luck, a previous player had just finished and walked away, giving me the opportunity to hop in the hot seat and start from scratch. Let me start off by saying, visually this game is stunning on PC. Read More...

Wolfenstein to Sponsor Premiere of Inglorious Basterds
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 28th of July 2009 - 10:36 PM ]
Who better to sponsor a premiere of a movie about killing Nazis than a video game franchise that wrote the book on killing Nazis?  Today, Activision and id Software announced the sponsorship of the "Inglorious Basterds" premiere by the also soon-to-be-released Wolfenstein.  Also included is a contest in conjunction with GameStop with a prize that includes airfare, accommodations, tickets to the premiere and admission to the after-party.  The contest begins today and must be really short considering the premiere at Grauman's Chinese Theater is August 10.  I shouldn't really encourage you to sign up for the contest as I have visions of sitting next to Diane Kruger. The Force Unleashed Once More
by Jesse [ Sunday, 26th of July 2009 - 03:08 PM ]
September 16th of last year saw Lucasarts release the much anticipated Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Right from the get-go, TFU was all about giving players a more thorough Force-wielding experience. Powers like Force Push and Force Lightning could be used in ways far beyond anything we’d ever seen before in a Star Wars game. Following the games release though, Lucasarts supported the title by creating several downloadable packages. There were two costume packs that added several new costumes for The Apprentice, as well as a number of alternate character skins. Read More...

The World Still at War
by Jesse [ Friday, 24th of July 2009 - 06:07 PM ]
Whether you love them or hate them, Activision and Treyarch have to be commended on their DLC support behind Call of Duty: World at War. Presently it looks like August is going to see more of that support with the release of a third map pack. As with the previous two downloadable packs, the third set of maps will feature 3 standard multiplayer maps, Battery, Breach, and Revolution, as well as a Nazi Zombie map entitled Der Riese. Battery is said to take place on an armored island surrounded by anti-ship mines. Breach will be an all out firefight set on the streets of Berlin, Germany. Read More...

Warchief we have found a director!
by Binh Nguyen [ Wednesday, 22nd of July 2009 - 07:55 PM ]
As nearly everyone in the World...of Warcraft knows that Blizzard and Legendary Pictures want to make a movie adaption of the highly popular MMO World of Warcraft. Two days before the San Diego Comic-Con, Blizzard and Legendary Pictures have announced that Sam Raimi has signed on to direct the upcoming Warcraft movie. For those who do not know who Sam Raimi is, and shame on you for not knowing, he directed such films as the cult classic Evil Dead and the Spider-Man trilogy, which has broken box-office records around the world and was nominated for five Academy Awards.  He also produced 30 Days Of Night, as well as wrote and directed Drag Me To Hell. DSi and Wii Ware Releases for 7/20/09
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 22nd of July 2009 - 03:21 PM ]
Wii Ware as a platform has lead a dubious life since its inception a little over a year ago.  There have been the occasional hits like Lost Winds and World of Goo, but those are the exception rather than the rule to titles like Family Pirate Party and Pong Toss! Frat Party Games.  With over 100 titles and with more misses than hits, many have speculated that the Wii Ware platform would be killed off unceremoniously, much like someone gets played off-stage at the Oscar's.  Well let me tell you something: they may not have the wrong idea! This week, both DSi Ware and Wii Ware received puzzle games with Art Style: Zengage and 5 Spots Party, respectively. Movie Games Gone Wild
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 20th of July 2009 - 05:44 PM ]
WARNER BROS. INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT AND LEGENDARY PICTURES PRESENT WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE Seems like a late announcement, but it was one that could easily be figured to have been made. Since most films nowadays get their own video game either based off or completely on the film in question. Why would there be any difference for Warner Bros. Where The Wild Things Are? So far they have yet to miss a game based on their films this year. Read More...
