To DSi or Not To DSi
by Binh Nguyen [ Friday, 27th of March 2009 - 04:33 AM ]
We all love play the old games and sometimes wants to go and revisit them from time to time, doesn’t matter for what system they were on especially with the gameboy and DS. Well at Nintendo’s GDC panel they announce 2 types of DS cartridges for the DSi, the DSi Cartridges which will only work for the DSi and the DSi Enhanced cards which will work for both the DS, DS lite and the DSi, which if you put the enhanced cartridge into the DSi you will get extra features. But what does this means to us? Not only did Nintendo announce the new format but they also announce that Nintendo will only make DSi-only cards. Read More...

Wii DLC for the Week of 3/16
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 17th of March 2009 - 01:01 AM ]
Taking the path down to Retro-land has many twists and turns...some more expensive than others.  Another Commodore 64 game was released this week on the Virtual Console and it is a good one: Summer Games II.  I very fondly remember going over to my friend Jason's house and booting up the C-64.  Not as fun to me as Winter Games, Summer Games II gave you the thrill of sport on an international level we had hardly seen before.  I have some great nostalgia for this game, but I'm not paying 500 Wii Points for it. Wii DLC for the Week of 3/9
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 11th of March 2009 - 04:17 AM ]
Hey there kids, it's time for your weekly Wii wrap up.  Even though we're only being graced with one WiiWare and one Virtual Console release this week, your selection improves to help you erase the taste of Family&Friends Party Time Game Thing from last week.  As the one'n'one combination sadly becomes the standard for the Monday DLC drop, I find it interesting that even in this week's press release is referenced your growing library of games in your "refridgerator" when we have yet to receive any new information on a storage solution for the little white box. This week you get two old school games: one retro platformer from a retired mascot and one retro-styled side-scrolling shooter.  Whether it's nostalgia for the Master System or the arcades, you might have a reason to hit up the Wii Shop Channel this week. Wii DLC for the Week of 3/2
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 4th of March 2009 - 03:58 AM ]
After a big week last week releasing four games, Nintendo gears back down to its normal conservative self.  This week in Wii DLC we have a game for everyone and a game for one.  For everyone in your household we have Gammick Entertainment's Family&Friends Party.  After searching their site extensively and finding no trace of the game, I had to rely on on Nintendo's exciting trailer.  You may not have family or friends to play with when they find out you spent 1,000 Wii Points on this game.On the flip side of the coin, on Virtual Console, is another Square Enix RPG from the Super NES days: Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen. Wii DLC for the Week of 2/23
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 25th of February 2009 - 05:17 AM ]
Hinted at last week in their press release, Nintendo released three Commodore 64 games on the Virtual Console this past Monday.  While this is not necessarily news to our friends across the pond, this is a first for those of us in North America.  The 500 Wii Points per game seems a little steep to me, but it's Nintendo and heaven forbid they sell something for less then 500 Wii Points because who knows, perhaps people will begin expecting to purchase a game only paying what it is worth.  I have a lot of fond memories over at my friend, Jason's house playing Commodore 64, but unless they release Summer Games or Winter Games, that price point is too high for me.Besides the Virtual Console releases, Wii Ware also had one release. Nintendo DSi to Launch on April 5th
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 19th of February 2009 - 05:05 AM ]
Announced today by Nintendo, the third iteration of the DS will hit store shelves in less than two months.  A lot of excitement has been building around the DSi for it's ability to download and store software from the DSi Store, which will be similar to the Wii Shop Channel.  The DSi will also feature dual cameras (one pointed towards you, the other pointed out) and an SD card slot.  It will be slimmer than the DS Lite since they removed the Game Boy Advance slot.  It will come at launch in Blue and Black and sport a nice $169. Wii DLC for the Week of 2/16
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 19th of February 2009 - 02:15 AM ]
A little late is better than never.  The next batch of Wii DLC hit this past Monday with one Wii Ware title and one Virtual Console title.  There is a surprise wrapped up in the update this week if you're crafty enough to piece together the clues.  A good luck to all our super sleuths and to those who continue to have patience waiting for Earthbound to drop... Outer space meets inner space at the Wii Shop Channel this Presidents Day. A new WiiWare title will have you soaring across the astral plane, while a vintage NES shooter for the Virtual Console invites you to battle your way through the innards of an alien creature. Mario & Sonic Going Olympic Again
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 12th of February 2009 - 03:47 PM ]
In an age of sequels and cashing in, it is no surprise that Mario&Sonic will be returning to the Nintendo Wii and DS later this year.  Already leaked two days ago, today Sega and Nintendo jointly announced the great duo's return to Olympic competition.  I am sure that also returning with this installment will be a lot of waggle and sore arms.  The press release mentions use of the balance board which will be an improvement for certain, but here's hoping they also implement Wii Motion Plus for more accurate gameplay.  No screens or gameplay as of yet, but you can view the trailer now on their launch site. Wii DLC for the Week of 2/9
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 10th of February 2009 - 01:11 AM ]
It is Monday again, so time for Nintendo to continue their download strategy of not rushing too many titles to WiiWare or the Virtual Console. Thus giving you plenty of time to "clean your refrigerator" and make room for these two titles.  Nothing says gear up for Valentine's Day like a horror puzzle game and an old-school arcade shooter.  So, grab your Wii Points and let the love (or a hail of gunfire) into the air. No matter what you've got planned for Valentine's Day, the latest additions to the Wii Shop Channel have what it takes to get your heart pounding. Read More...

Fitness & Video-Games
by Amanda [ Thursday, 15th of January 2009 - 07:14 AM ]
Let’s face it, it seems like America’s in a panic to lose weight as it infamously maintains it’s title as THEE most detrimental nation in existence; Late night infomercials, hip-hob abs, Power 90, Flirty Girl Fitness, counting calories on Big Mac boxes?! Us gamers are hardly left out in this day and age, especially with video-games becoming more and more interactive; Just ask our beloved Konami, the makers of le cult classic Dance Dance Revolution.  Wait, “D00D YOU DANCE?!” That’s probably top-secret information the majority of guys most likely don’t want to share at a frat party; your friends may assume fetal position, spewing ‘Gamer Fuel’ ( does anyone actually drink that stuff? [NDS Review] From The Abyss
by Michael Camacho [ Saturday, 29th of November 2008 - 08:03 AM ]
Dungeon Crawler Hack & Slash RPG games are starting to become a regular genre on the Nintendo DS, so does Aksys Games' set itself apart with From The Abyss? Unfortunately the game doesn't do much to stand out amongst its peers, but it is still a fun time for J-RPG fans. From The Abyss takes place in Rubenhaut where the kingdom has been overrun by monsters flowing through the Abyss Gate. You choose your hero from four possible choices, two male and two female, and then answer a short series of questions to give your character a sense of background. You arrive in Rubenhaut and meet with the queen, whom enlists your help to rid the land of monsters, and thus your journey to free the kingdom begins. Read More...

During their Fall Press Conference today, Nintendo announced a new version of the Nintendo DS called the DSi. The handheld's screens have been enlarged, and will now be 17% bigger (at 3.25 inches) from a DS Lite. The rumors of audio enhancement and .3 megapixel (640x480) camera have proven to be correct. The DSi will also feature an SD memory card slot, making it possible to take pictures with the DSi and then view them on the Nintendo Wii. The DSi will feature a built-in browser, and is able to download games and keep them. Read More...
