Review: Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 2nd of January 2012 - 02:17 AM ]
I'm not one for re-makes or "re-imagining" when it comes to video games. I think that it shows a lack of innovation in the industry when developers should really be pushing forward. It is how I feel and there won't be much changing of my mind in this area. So you could only imagine how I felt when I heard that Just Add Water was "upgrading" Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath to be a whole new HD version. Why "upgrade" instead of make something new for the developer? Now that I have that out of the way, just like when God Of War got the HD treatment, I see why they chose to do this six years later. Top 5 Items Pushed Into 2012
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 28th of December 2011 - 05:05 PM ]
As 2011 comes to a close, it's easy to point out that once again the games industry has had an incredible year of releases. So many in fact, it would be simple to say that games pushed in to 2012 are okay because we already have so much to play. While I do not necessarily disagree with that statement, I think about the games already slated for next year that I want to play - i.e. BioShock Infinite, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Tomb Raider and XCOM - and I'm wondering when I will find the time to get into the things that were pushed back from 2011. New Twisted Metal Trailers
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 20th of December 2011 - 05:35 PM ]
A couple new trailers for Eat Sleep Play's Twisted Metal have been released, one featuring my favorite character, Mr. Grimm and the other featuring Dollface. The trailers showcase a little bit of each characters back story, a hefty dose of heavy metal and some sweet, sweet game play. I grew up playing the original Twisted Metal games, so seeing one of my favorite childhood franchises come back guns blazing in a hail of fire and bullets makes me crack a smile across my face, ear to ear. The first trailer is Mr. Grimm, who is a different person from the last installment (Twisted Metal: Black) but is just as cool, showing us some of his signature weapons like the "Flame Saw" which is an exploding chainsaw that has been grinding on the concrete for a few hundred feet. Gingerly Touch Your Swords Together. Sorcery Is Still Alive
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 19th of December 2011 - 10:43 PM ]
I remember way back in 2010 when Sorcery was first shown off to the world at E3 during Sony's press conference. Then there was a surprising lack of anything to do with the game except the parallels with Medieval Moves: Deadmunds Quests, which I'll admit I thought was a redesign since Sorcery was labeled a working title. But now, I am overly surprised and happy to bring you some new footage and visuals for Sorcery, which no longer seems a working title now. You might be thinking to yourself right now, "Wait, why are you so excited for this game? Read More...

By Mennen! A New Episode Of Nuka Break Slipped Out
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 17th of October 2011 - 09:48 PM ]
I've been insanely busy over the last few days, but it looks like the next chapter on Fallout: Nuka Break just hit like the latest episode of The Walking Dead. Only that unlike TWD, F:NB doesn't fully pick up where we last left off. Be it because of some shady stuff the producers and writers don't want us knowing yet or be that I missed something. In either instance, the whole story picks back up well after the group has left town. Also while Scarlet's old slaver is planning a reclamation plan elsewhere in the world. Read More...

Do Video Game Characters Have Dreams Of Their Players?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 7th of October 2011 - 04:51 PM ]
Looks like Sony took the time to answer that question for us in their latest promotional video for the Long Live Play campaign. Looks like they do and they are supposed to be. Sackboy I'm looking at you. Tsk tsk tsk… This is a rather interesting and awesome addition to things though. Especially since everyone in there is not a PlayStation exclusive even though it is stacked that way a bit. I will say that some of their choices for actors is a little odd or at least make the characters look odd. Kratos for one just looks wrong even though he looks to be the most CG'ed of the bunch. Did Twig Just Get His Nuka Break?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 30th of September 2011 - 08:46 PM ]
It's been two weeks again so it is time for the new episode of Fallout: Nuka Break. It is also time to see how the cliff hanger from last episode is going to work itself out. You know the one where the whole crew was ambushed in the middle of town. Crazy guy in a huge top hat? You know and if not go watch the last episode. Without giving too much away, it does look like the whole premise of the series has come to a close. Or at least the basic one. Read More...

Nuka Break: Behind The Scenes
by Matt Waitt [ Thursday, 15th of September 2011 - 04:49 PM ]
Well, seeing as Hades loves himself some Fallout: Nuka Break and so do all of you, I felt it would be good to show you guys some "behind the scenes." I've been following the creators of Fallout: Nuka Break long before they made the fan film. The guy who plays Twig (Zack Finfrock) is the creator and the main guy behind Wayside Creations (the company that made the web series). Zack first started off on a now cancelled (sadly) show called "Backyard FX" where he was made the host. Zack and Wayside Creations have made dozens of helpful props and tutorials for DIY Film making. Fallout: Nuka Break Replaces Slave Leia With Slave Scarlett
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 14th of September 2011 - 08:43 PM ]
So two weeks ago Fallout: Nuka Break made its debut on the internet with its first episode. In what seems to be a bi-weekly set up now (according to the annotations in the new episode), I bring you Episode 2. Yea, that whole sentence was redundant but you still read it. In this episode, the trio is continuing on to find the perfect Nuka Cola Break and stumble upon the reason for the attack in the first episode. If you've read the show notes and character bios you would know that Scarlett (our heroine) is an escaped slave. Looks like she escaped with the help of Twigg and Ben and her owner wants her back. Knuckle Bumps To The Gamers Behind Fallout: Nuka Break
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 30th of August 2011 - 05:28 PM ]
So there was that abomination that occurred with Mortal Kombat's web series. I've all but given up on trying to care about any web series that are based on popular video game franchises. That is until I caught Wayside Creations' rendition of Fallout, aptly titled Fallout: Nuka Break. Before you ask, this was created by fans of Fallout for fans of Fallout. The creator's being a small independent production company. The same company that released the virally popular short film with the same title. Read More...

A Little Twsited Metal Before PAX Prime
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 24th of August 2011 - 03:45 PM ]
I like to think that there is no one sadder that myself about the Twisted Metal delay. I'm sure there might be, but I don't want to make assumptions here. No need to make and Ass out of U and Ptions. Am I right or am I right? Of course I am. Moving on now. Well we might not be getting the game in October and there won't be a "beta" for the multiplayer, at least as David Jaffe has stated. What we will be getting is a new playable map at PAX Prime. For those of us who are not going to PAX Prime and don't want to wait for news and videos to leak out, below we have a few new screen shots for your digestion. Read More...

How Do The PSP God Of War Titles Compare To PS3?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 16th of August 2011 - 09:17 PM ]
When I heard that Sony was going to bundle the two PSP God Of War titles, Chains Of Olympus and Ghost Of Sparta, for the PS3 I was a little upset. I already dropped the cash on these games for the PSP and the PS3 was already out. I thought then, why did they not just make these games on the PS3 and just make them downloadable or cheap disks? After seeing the below comparison, I am even more infuriated that I had to wait to get them in high definition and on my big screen at home. Watch the trailer clip below and tell me that it wouldn't have made sense to just put both of these titles on the PSN or PS3 in the first place. Read More...

The Tester Season 3 Is Upon Us
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 4th of August 2011 - 10:56 PM ]
Well this was a little unexpected. Last time it was announced during E3 and was a major thing Sony wanted to bring up. Unless their plan was to use QuakeCon to help the announcement. Then spot on. Oh, by the way, I am talking about the announcement for the third season of The Tester. You know that PSN/PS3 exclusive "reality show" that has gone two years now. Now normally, after what happened last time, I'd have some scoffing and guffawing about this. It's just how I'd feel. Read More...

World Of Warcraft Expansion Leak
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 7th of July 2011 - 04:54 PM ]
It's been six years. Six years since World of Warcarft first came out. Recently we had patch notes and the release of 4.2 with Ragnaros back in full force. Exciting right?! Oh the expansion leak, that's what you're here for… the fake leak… Really folks? Within the six years that World of Warcraft has been around, when was the last time you saw a leak for an expansion this close to Blizzcon that wasn't leaked by Blizzard…? Seriously? World of Warcraft is like a tight lipped zoo. Read More...

E3 2011 Hands On: PS Vita
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 21st of June 2011 - 08:54 PM ]
Well we've waited and wondered at what Sony had in store for the NGP and at the Sony Conference most of the details were revealed. We now have the PS Vita coming to stores in the not too distant future to snag our money and keep us gaming when not at home. For those who don't know or have strong logic skills, this is the PSP2 that has been all the rumor for the last year. We were lucky enough to get our hands on a couple of PS Vita's and some of the software coming on or around launch time for the system. All of which showing off some of the new features and capabilities of the PS Vita. Read More...
