See The Next Generation Of Mo-Cap With inFAMOUS: Second Son
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 7th of June 2013 - 05:53 PM ]
Let's add a bit of a break from the E3 trailers and PrE3 announcements for a moment and take a look at how some of the next gen tech is shaping up in regards to motion capture. Since both the PlayStation 4 and inFAMOUS: Second Son are going to be huge things at the event I am sure we will get to see more, but for now let's look at how much detail the new hardware and software will handle the fine movements in a game. Some of these being things that can help define a character's mood without the need of speaking. Pretty interesting even though the main character looks to have a lazy eye most of the time. rain Gets A Story Trailer... Kind Of...
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 3rd of June 2013 - 07:01 PM ]
Back in March we got a look at rain's game play. It was a bit confusing as to what the actual game is about besides an invisible boy running around trying to find/save an invisible girl while invisible monsters chase them and, presumably, try to kill them. I guess it is a good thing that there was a story trailer released to try and explain things a bit better. Let's take a watch and see what rain is all about. So it is still a story about a boy who is turned invisible and is trying to save an invisible girl in a world where it is always raining. Read More...

It's Confirmed! I Can Play Most PS4 Games In The Bathroom
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 29th of May 2013 - 11:09 PM ]
So after the big PlayStation 4 announcement it isn't really big news that there will be remote play functionality between the PS4 and the PS Vita. Hells, they showed that working on stage. You can see that down below if you want a recap on things. What is the big news here then if it has already been defined this is a feature? Well it seems that according to developer sources of Digital Foundry's Vita Remote Play is mandatory for all PS4 titles. This was later confirmed by Shuhei Yoshida (President SCEW Studios) via twitter after a questions surfaced. Read More...

Who Wants To See The Game Play Of Beyond: Two Souls?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 3rd of May 2013 - 06:16 PM ]
Did you missed the Tribeca Film Festival, and in turn the new footage for Beyond: Two Souls? This is most likely the case if you clicked in here to see the new trailer and about 35 minutes of the actual game play. If the reports of Beyond only being an average of ten hours long, that's about 1/20 of the actual game. Isn't that lovely? In the instance that you are one of those "don't want to spoil anything" people, I'll give you a run down on what is touched on in the longer video besides a bit of the story. Read More...

PAX East Hands On: Daylight
by Kenton Winkfield [ Wednesday, 27th of March 2013 - 04:19 PM ]
I’ve said it before; it's tough not to grab my attention when I get shown a video game. But it is tough to pull me away from one that already has my attention. Zombie Studios showcased their game Daylight at the Astro Headset Booth, which was close to Square Enix, my favorite developer/publisher, and right next to Wizards of the Coast, makers of my favorite TCG, Magic: The Gathering. This is an incredibly difficult location for a game to be showcased if it wants to keep my attention. Zombie Studios had no trouble reaching that feat. Read More...

PAX East Hands On: Outlast
by Kenton Winkfield [ Tuesday, 26th of March 2013 - 06:44 PM ]
PAX East was home to many Indie games this year. So many, that most of the games were located in a section called the Indie Mega Booth. Outlast was one of the games that had their setup in this area. Outlast comes from the brand new indie developers Red Barrels. The company is a 10 man team from Montreal, with each person having experience working with companies such as THQ, EA, and Ubisoft. The team joined up to create and deliver incredibly unforgettable single-player games. With Outlast being their first game, I can say they have already found themselves a comfortable spot in my memory bank. Read More...

It would sure be great if we received some kind of update huh? You know things like, what the game is about and how does it handle? Wait? What's this? Let's Welcome The Empusa To God Of War: Ascension
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 8th of March 2013 - 12:19 AM ]
Just as they did before with the Manticore, the developers behind God Of War: Ascension have brought us new mythological creature making its debut to the franchise from the stories of yore. Most of you have probably never heard of Empusa before because she is not very prominent in many of the stories that we still hear today. Well none if my memory of my college years serves. Anyway, this servant of Hecate is now featured in the GoW franchise in some fashion. Read More...

Definite Proof They Are Not Zombies In The Last Of Us
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 7th of March 2013 - 07:05 PM ]
I'll fully admit that when I first saw The Last Of Us back in December of 2011 I was impressed with the visuals but not really the setting or enemies. I believe I harshed on it being another post-apocalypse title trying to cash in on the 'end of the world' scenario that is still kind of all the rage. I mean they even called the creatures 'The Infected' during the initial launch. How were we not supposed to think that this was going to be another zombie type of game. Read More...

Willem Dafoe Now Listed Among Beyond: Two Souls Cast
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 6th of March 2013 - 07:19 PM ]
We all know from last year's E3, one of the big calls to Beyond: Two Souls was the fact that Ellen Page was lending her voice and physical acting skills. How this was biggest news that Sony and Quantic Dream wanted to push is still beyond me, but it was. It seems like instead of trying to focus on what the actual game play will handle like, they just want to point to star power. Again this is the case, but at least we get a little bit more as to what is going on. Willem Dafoe, of Speed 2 fame, is now in the mix of names to lend voice and acting skill to B: TS. Read More...

Review: PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
by Devin Ballard [ Friday, 1st of March 2013 - 10:30 PM ]
So before I get on the review, let me just say that I’m not big on fighting games. I’m more of an RPG, MMO, or FPS kind of guy. Seldom has a fighting game captured my attention and made me want to continue playing through both defeat and success, so when I say that I’m genuinely interested in PlayStation All-Stars just know that I don’t say that lightly. This is a cross-over fighting game made by SuperBot Entertainment and SCE Santa Monica Studio exclusively for the PS3. Big surprise right? Read More...

Now That We've Had Some Time, Let's Talk PS4
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 26th of February 2013 - 01:45 AM ]
It's been a bit of time since Sony held its huge press conference where the PS4 was officially announced. They let loose the proposed specs for the new machine as well as a quick look at the Dual Shock 4, new services, and a few games that will be coming this holiday season. With the announcements comes a bit of wonder and excitement, as I am sure Sony wants, but should we blindly follow along and get ready to drop upwards of $600 this November? I've had some time to reflect and let the initial excitement subside, so let me bring up a few things I took away and pondered on. If for some reason you missed it, as I did, you want to check what I'm talking about, or you just don't care for the words and just want to watch it again, the video is below. Read More...

In a few short weeks baseball fans will be able to get their hands on Sony’s all star baseball sim MLB 13 The Show. If you have been following the franchise you would know that The Show has been the best selling and most polished sports game for years now. Edging out their competitor 2K Sports and proving that The Show is far superior. This year, The Show is coming back with quite a few improvements and additions. One of Sony's goals this year is to make The Show more accessible to casual and new players. Read More...

So Many God Of War: Ascension Spoilers It Makes Kratos Sad
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 2nd of February 2013 - 03:48 AM ]
It's been a bit since we've had some real updates or news about God Of War: Ascension so it would seem a good time to give a bit more. Screw it. Not a bit more. Let's go ahead and let loose the first 30 minutes of the game, a few screen shots, a video on how they made the Manticore, and the teased Super Bowl commercial. How does that sound? Spectacular is the word you are looking for. Read More...

Sony's New Patent Could Put An End To Used Games
by Greg Tatterfield [ Friday, 4th of January 2013 - 06:52 PM ]
Used games have been a sore spot with game companies for a long time now. For most gamers used games are a great way to save money or play a game that they may have missed. However If Sony has anything to say about it this trend may be coming to an end soon. Sony has filed a patent for a new technology that will block used games from being played on Sony's consoles. The new system works by reading a tag embedded on the game disk and then linking to the player ID and the user’s console. After the tag has been linked to the first console that the game was played on any future attempt to play the game on another user’s console will not work. Read More...
