E3 2012 Hands On: God Of War: Ascension - Multiplayer
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 13th of June 2012 - 08:51 PM ]
Well here is one of the big games I was looking forward to seeing at E3 this year, God Of War: Ascension. Not just because it is another title for one of my favorite franchises, but because this time around Sony Santa Monica is adding in something I never would have thought would be in a God Of War title. That is Multiplayer for those of you who skipped reading the title. I have included the video and screens of the single player game play that was available at E3, but let's be honest there really isn't much they can change to the game's winning single player. Aggrocast Episode Ninety Nine: E3 2012 Day Zero Recap
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 6th of June 2012 - 12:53 AM ]
The Electronic Entertainment Expo has descended for 2012. Day Zero brings Press Conferences galore with Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft and Sony all taking their respective stages. Brian, Corey and Matt sat down directly after the Sony presser to talk over the days activities. Before getting into the meat of E3, Brian shines the Community Spotlight on Epic Games and the incredible outreach they did for the misplaced veterans of Big Huge Games. Then, it's time for the bread and butter of E3: press conferences. The guys discuss what they saw and break down what they loved, what they were disappointed by and what surprised them in the short 10-plus hours prior provided by the industry. Read More...

PlayStation E3 2012 Press Conference Recap
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 5th of June 2012 - 02:17 PM ]
Did you somehow miss the PlayStation/Sony Press Conference for this year's E3? With so many different ways to watch it and keep up to date, it is a little difficult to believe that could be the case. Lucky for those four or five people out there, I was on the floor watching everything live for you. Also lucky for you, I took the time to gather up a bit of the highlights of the show as well as a three part showing at the very bottom. I really am just the best, aren't I? Before I let you go on and watch things, let me recap for you to try and save you time. Read More...

Aggrocast Episode Ninety Eight: Pre-E3 2012 Expectations
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 1st of June 2012 - 04:44 PM ]
It's that time again. The Electronic Entertainment Expo is looming and that means it's time for Matt, Corey and Brian to drop the gloves and pontificate the possibilities of what will happen next week at E3. The list of games the guys go over is too long to write out here...much like the podcast itself. It goes so long in fact, we had to break it up into two chunks. The bulk of it is here in Episode 98, but keep an eye here on Aggrogamer for a special bonus podcast of what happens when the discussion really heats up. Read More...

Review: Starhawk
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 21st of May 2012 - 10:10 PM ]
Starhawk has landed. From what I saw on all the social media sites, it must have been one of the most anticipated games to come to the PlayStation. One could kind of view it as a sequel to Warhawk, in spirit, but with a focus on single player this time out and not just multiplayer. Let's just jump right in and find out what I think of the game so you can decide to drop your money or not. The Story In the future humans start to move out into the galaxy and do what they do best, harvest natural resources and cause wars over energy. Only issue this time is that the main and most valuable source of energy, Rift Energy, also has the side effect of mutating humans into something worse. Read More...

We Get Ambushed By The Latest 'The Last Of Us' Trailer
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 18th of May 2012 - 04:52 PM ]
I'll be honest; I have not been overly excited about The Last Of Us. Go ahead and read any of my stuff on the game. With the past trailers and screens it really just feels like another post apocalypse game. To go further, it feels like Naughty Dog has paid off other sites and journalists to hype the game more than they should. I'm talking specifically when they posted a picture of the enemies that everyone and their mother said was utterly disgusting. It really isn't to the point everyone was saying. Read More...

Multiplayer In My God Of War. Say What?!?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 4th of May 2012 - 10:12 PM ]
When it was first announced that God Of War: Ascension was going to be a prequel I was iffy and questioned the choice. Now it has been revealed during a press viewing that there is going to be that Multiplayer teased and rumored since GoW3. Yea, that's right. In a game that is pretty much designed from the start as a single player story driven game we are getting some multiplayer added on as well. I guess before we get all up in arms about this, let's take a look at what is planned. First, and I think the best, is that the core team for Single Player was not tapped for the multiplayer addition to the game. Read More...

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, Long Name For A Clone
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 2nd of May 2012 - 09:16 PM ]
It was rumored and "leaked" just like all of Sony's new info that comes out at E3, but now we have an official look and announcement of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Gods that is a mouthful to say. We'll just go with PASBR from here on out just to save time. Now that we have that set, let's move on. For those who have no clue what PASBR is let me answer that question. It is effectively the PlayStation version of Super Smash Bros. Read More...

Starhawk Kind Of Reminding Me Of Firefly
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 1st of May 2012 - 09:33 PM ]
If you look below you will be able to see the new trailer for Starhawk's story. Needless to say it makes the game look amazing and has piqued my interest in the game a bit more than ever before. Although there is one thing that I can't seem to get past and that is the feel of the Firefly universe here. Take a gander at the trailer here and continue below to read more of my thoughts. Now after watching that, doesn't that give you the "Wild West" look and feel just with a bit of high tech and space? Read More...

Review: Sniper Elite V2
by Fred Buell [ Tuesday, 1st of May 2012 - 06:15 PM ]
Rebellion Developments just gave us a "reboot" or "remake" of the 2005 shooter of the same name, Sniper Elite: V2 which takes place in the same time frame. This time rather than infiltrating the Nazi Army in disguise, you are a lone sniper against both the German and Russian WW2 militaries. Referencing the real life "Operation Paper," you must sneak behind lines and kill, or rescue, German scientists from creating and launching deadly V2 rockets. The game plays very smoothly; only on few occasions, and probably at my provoking the system, did I experience any spots of being stuck or absurd clipping. Sniper Elite plays as you would hope and expect any 3rd person shooter to play. Read More...

Here Is What Sorcery's Story Is About
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 19th of April 2012 - 10:02 PM ]
I know we've shown quite a bit of Sorcery on here but there has never been any real substance as to what the story of the game is all about. We've covered the early visuals, the early controls and the early basics of the game but we have yet to actually go over the story of the game. You know that one thing that a lot of you gamers out there glance over just to jump in and enact your twisted fantasies. Good news for those out there that were hoping to get some story to go along with all the above. The basics of the story have just been loosed on the internet for us to get some kind of idea. God Of War: Ascension Announced. Another Prequel?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 19th of April 2012 - 04:07 PM ]
It was teased on the PlayStation Facebook page and speculation surrounded about a new God Of War title. This morning we finally have the answer to the "tease." God Of War: Ascension has been officially announced with the below teaser trailer for the game. Not really a huge shock given all of the 'hints' and the fact that it is one of Sony's largest franchises. So let's see what we can glean from this teaser. Well not all that much. Read More...

Aggrocast Episode Ninety Five: We're Mad As Hell
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 4th of April 2012 - 04:37 PM ]
…and we're not gonna take it anymore. That may only be slightly paraphrasing the movie Network, but then again, we're gamers, so we'll probably continue to "take it." We're hoping you take and enjoy our latest episode of the Aggrocast as Corey, Brian and Matt talk about the latest news, including the recent announcement for Amazon Instant Video on PS3. The guys also talk about their latest adventures in gaming - including World of Warcraft, iPad games, SNES games, Wheels of Destruction and Mass Effect 2. Our Community Spotlight this week focuses on our support for Aggrogamer's own Chief Editor, David Becker, as he attempts to break gender-stereotypes and win the Maxim Gamer Girl contest. Read More...

LittleBigPlanet Karting Now Officially Announced
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 26th of March 2012 - 04:07 PM ]
Well it only took a little over a month, but LittleBigPlanet Karting can now be considered announced. It has a new trailer and screens to say so as well even though it was pretty much "leaked" a while back. I know…I know… But when we all first heard about the game and saw the first images it was outside the pre-defined PR timeline for when it was to be truly announced. That is now. Ok, so we all knew it was coming for a while now but at least we do get a nice new trailer and a few screens to show off the game and where it is in production. Read More...

Here's A Bit Of The Story Of The Last Of Us
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 13th of February 2012 - 10:22 PM ]
So when The Last Of Us was first announced I had my reservations on the game. After hearing a bit more on the story of the game, characters and world they are still there. Albeit this all stems from the little tid-bits that were recently explained to Game Informer. You can see the dev interview below to get caught up to where I am in knowledge of the game. So plain and simple sounds more like a ridiculous "escort mission" style of story. While Joel does seem to have an interesting background, the overall theme here is keep Ellie alive and to some unknown location. Read More...
