Dragon Age II Trailer Released At Gamescom
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 17th of August 2010 - 06:59 PM ]
Not long ago BioWare announced Dragon Age II with a website and more recently a good amount of information from hands-on previews and a full article in Game Informer. At the EA press conference in Cologne Germany during Gamescom, EA gave us our first look at the cinematic trailer for Dragon Age II and it is definitely worth watching. The trailer is titled "Destiny" and it is a spectacle to behold; nothing less should be expected from BioWare. The cinematic is beautifully rendered with some great looking characters and awesome action sequences. Read More...

More Songs Revealed For Dance Central
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 17th of August 2010 - 04:43 PM ]
Today more songs were revealed for Harmonix's Dance Central at Gamescom 2010. Currently one of the only games worth purchasing Microsoft's Kinect, Dance Central combines music, fun and dancing to create an experience unlike any other. I know that phrase is used an awful lot in this industry, but after experiencing it for myself at E3, I can definitively say I will purchase a XBox 360 and a Kinect specifically for this title. With today's announcement, the song list increases to 20. With only 30+ songs promised on the disc, you may be concerned about the depth of the roster, but with a list that now includes Rihanna's "Pon de Replay" and Technotronic's "Pump Up the Jam", I don't think you have too much to worry about. Epic Mickey Opening Cinematic Released
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 16th of August 2010 - 11:27 PM ]
I had no idea what I was in for when I took the controls to play Epic Mickey at E3 2010. It did not take long for me to realize that the "epic" in the title was well earned. So, after taking command of one of the most recognizable characters in the world and playing for 15 minutes - creating and destroying at will - I was sold on Warren Specter's latest project. Today, I watched the just-released, jaw-dropping opening cinematic and I have gone from being sold to being ready to play it now. Take a look for yourself below and tell me you aren't just itching to play*. Read More...

Tropico 4 Announced
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 16th of August 2010 - 06:34 PM ]
On Friday, it was announced that Haemimont Games plans to build on their success in the strategy game genre with Tropico 4. This announcement is not a complete shock as its predecessor was well received by both critics and consumers alike. The series hits a fairly specific audience as you tackle being "El Presidente," a ruler of a small tropical island. Armed with the hopes of being a powerhouse nation, you decide how you will make this happen - whether that is politically, diplomatically, economically or militarily. The simulation-strategy genre has many different development houses that cater to a wide range of scenarios. Read More...

Get Your Head Up In The Clouds With BioShock Infinte
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 13th of August 2010 - 02:08 PM ]
BioShock fans can rejoice, at least a little bit. While the final DLC pack for BioShock 2 is on its way here in the coming months, it has been officially been announced that the franchise will live on. Even though we will have to wait until 2012 for the next incarnation, the previously dubbed Project Icarus has been revealed. Welcome to BioShock Infinite. While I do say next incarnation, BioShock Infinite is not a sequel in terms of story though. Read More...

Ninjas & Robots Team Up, Nothing Good Can Come Of This
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 12th of August 2010 - 06:11 PM ]
Instead of facing off in a bloody, futuristic main event, like they should have, 2K Games and Gearbox are teaming up to show their post-apocalyptic supremacy over everything. At least that is the premise behind the new DLC for Borderlands - Claptrap's New Robot Revolution. Wait, you didn't know there is some new DLC rolling out for Borderlands? Well consider this a nice little daily double, even though it is all wrapped into one package. /MindBlown I'll give you a moment to collect your thoughts again. Read More...

Let's Get Super Naughty With Naughty Bear
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 11th of August 2010 - 04:28 PM ]
You know for a game that was not as widely accepted, outside of a small cult following, you would think that 505 Games and A2M would have moved on to another IP. But I guess it looks like Naughty Bear finally balled up and took them on to make his game even better. Better by adding in a whole new level, bear types, costumes and more to the story of Naughty Bear. Looks like the bears on the Island of Perfection have yet another scheme to take Naughty on with. Only this time a new group of superhero bears have come to the island. Read More...

Minerva's Den Is Where All The Cool DLC Was Hidden
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 6th of August 2010 - 06:08 PM ]
Just when you thought that maybe there was nothing left to be done in BioShock 2 another DLC pack is sent our way. First it was more multiplayer. Then it was more "single" player in the form of harvesting challenges. Let's see what 2K Game is going to try and milk us for this time. Most likely more map packs for a multiplayer mode that is getting a little on the light side. *[Insert Press Release Opening Noises]* Oh, well isn't this interesting? New DLC that is all about expanding the best part of the game, THE STORY. Read More...

Arkham Asylum Remodeled To Arkham City
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 5th of August 2010 - 06:13 PM ]
It has been a long while since we had any good news about Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 hasn't it? Almost eight months it has been since the VGA's ran the announcement trailer for Warner Bros. and Rocksteady Games' next incarnation of the best Batman game to date. The only thing we've had to go on from there is the small slips that the voice actors have passed out. Well here is something better than those small things. For starters, it is no longer called Batman: Arkhamn Asylum 2. Read More...

Runic Games Announces Torchlight II
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 4th of August 2010 - 03:58 PM ]
Today via Twitter, Runic Games announced the highly anticipated sequel to last year's hit action-RPG, Torchlight. While only a teaser website today, Torchlight II looks to bring everything that made the original successful, build upon it and enable co-op game play. New classes to play, new TorchEd modification editor and a new user interface are just a few of the features already listed for Torchlight II. Did I mention Co-Op multiplayer? I was a big fan of Torchlight and while the fans (myself included) patiently wait for Torchlight MMO; this will definitely tide us over until then. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 3rd of August 2010 - 09:54 PM ]
It has been only a little over a month after we first brought you our thoughts on Dead Space 2 from E3. So what new can we bring you about DS2 that we haven't already talked about? Well, actually getting to take the reins of the demo they showed in the back rooms at E3 for one. If you have seen the game play from E3, then you know exactly what part of the game we got to look at behind curtains at Comic Con. Only this time we didn't have to rely on the game designers to tell us how great the new controls for Dead Space 2 are going to be. I can attest that they are just as tight and awesome as previously described. Read More...

by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 16th of July 2010 - 06:32 PM ]
Today at the University of Cincinnati, students began their next summer session. While normally a Philosophy class on your schedule may be cause for alarm, a class full of students is tackling Philosophy in video games. Designed by Philosophy Ph.D. student and gamer Vanessa Gorley, “Violence, Sex and Immorality: Video Games and Philosophy” will explore philosophical topics through the eyes of one of our own. About the class, she says, “This class explores the social and moral implications of video game play. Video games are a substantial part of our culture and we need to look into how they affect us.
