PAX Hands On Impression: Aion

Arriving a bit late to PAX 2009 in Seattle, Washington and finally entering the Washington State Convention Center. The first game that I went and found was not what you would think. No, it wasn’t to the Blizzard booth to play more World of Warcraft. Instead I headed to the NCSoft booth to play their new Massive Multi-play Online game, Aion. Making a character was easier than I thought it would be and the customization was a lot more detailed as well. With 3G technology, soon to be 4G, and more and more mobile games becoming available, it seems that phones and gadgets are quickly becoming the next stage of portable gaming. Well heres the next step. Sony has announced their latest European phone The Aino back in May, but no one expected it to be ready so quickly. Batman: Arkham Asylum - Release Trailer Just in time for the official release date, in North America, come what will be the coolest looking trailer/advertisement for Batman Arkham Asylum to date. Even better than the sing skeleton video they have showing off the Scarecrow DLC you get for pre-ordering at GameStop. Albeit, not as funny, but it is one of the best views of the game that the general public will get a look at before they actually get to pick up the game. My Wings are now Golden

Last week on the Aggrocast, Michael, Brian, David and myself discussed whether or not Aion will be a bust or a success. Well today NCsoft has announced that the highly anticipated MMO has been released to be manufactured, also known as going Gold. Recently Aion has been gaining a lot of momentum in the in the European and North American online communities, and rightfully so with more than 3 million hours of gameplay logged in Aion closed beta alone.This year at GamesCom in Cologne, Germany, and at Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle, Washington, Aion will be available to play hands-on with the 1.5 version of the game. Kratos Coming to Comics

Video games being adapted to comic book form is a natural fit. So it is probably not a surprise to hear that another one is coming down the line. But now, arguably Sony’s biggest franchise, will join the likes of Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Gears of War, Metal Gear Solid, and Resident Evil. Partnering with DC and Wildstorm, Sony’s blockbuster God of War video game franchise is the inspiration for an all new 6-issue mini series. The first issue is tentatively scheduled to debut in October with a run that should last roughly until the release of God of War III in March of 2010. Not sure if you heard by now, but there was a protest at the Franklin Mills Mall in Philadelphia, PA. Why at that mall? Well there is a Twelve Million Dollar experimental recruitment facility called Army Experience Center in the mall. Mario & Sonic Going Olympic Again

In an age of sequels and cashing in, it is no surprise that Mario&Sonic will be returning to the Nintendo Wii and DS later this year. Already leaked two days ago, today Sega and Nintendo jointly announced the great duo's return to Olympic competition. I am sure that also returning with this installment will be a lot of waggle and sore arms. The press release mentions use of the balance board which will be an improvement for certain, but here's hoping they also implement Wii Motion Plus for more accurate gameplay.
