Trailer Park (10/24/11)
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 24th of October 2011 - 11:09 PM ]
Blizzard has released a new cinematic trailer for Diablo III featuring some very scary atmosphere and demons. The new trailer also shows off some of the story we can expect in Diablo III, such as Asmodon trying to acquire the Black Soulstone to rule as the true prime evil. If my memory serves me correct there are seven prime evils and in Diablo II we killed three of them: Mephisto, Diablo and Baal. The trailer also shows us a new character, who I believe is Deckard Cain's niece, whose name I do not know at this point. But enough of my rambling, enjoy the trailer. Read More...

New Halo Anniversary Trailer Says What's Old is New
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 19th of October 2011 - 02:07 PM ]
A new "BTS" or "Behind The Scenes" trailer has been released for the upcoming Halo: Anniversary. The trailer shows off a lot of new stuff such as Skulls in Campaign, as well as Kinect and 3D support. I was previously on the fence for getting Halo: Anniversary, but after watching this trailer, I can honestly say I'm 100% sold on this. The aforementioned were not the only improvements, now there is easier navigation through the Library. Many of you perhaps remember - as I did - getting lost hundreds of times while the flood eats your face. Read More...

Review: X-Men: Destiny
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 18th of October 2011 - 05:55 PM ]
I am both a fan of X-men and comic books in general. I have many fond memories of playing the four-player, beat-em up style Konami arcade game back in the 80's and I have spent more than a few hours playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 with my buddies. Silicon Knights' newest title, X-Men: Destiny, should have been a no-brainer - backed by such a great concept as it boasted being the next great brawling action game where you could create the mutant you always believed should be in this universe. Unfortunately due to its execution, the game becomes really diluted, which knocks it down a few notches on the likeability scale. Before the game starts, the game will ask you to choose one of three distinct characters - each with their own minor story line. Read More...

So What Did You Think About Rage?
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 10th of October 2011 - 06:23 PM ]
Now that Id Software's new IP is out, what do you guys think about it?I was thoroughly impressed with the demo Id showed off earlier this year at PAX East and eagerly waited for its release in August, but sadly it was pushed back to October. I was perfectly ok with that since I knew the finished product was going to blow my mind into oblivion, but I guess it is safe to say that I'm slightly disappointed. Now don't get me wrong, Rage is still a fun game for me to play, but I was expecting a lot more. I guess the hype got my head in the clouds. Read More...

Do Video Game Characters Have Dreams Of Their Players?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 7th of October 2011 - 04:51 PM ]
Looks like Sony took the time to answer that question for us in their latest promotional video for the Long Live Play campaign. Looks like they do and they are supposed to be. Sackboy I'm looking at you. Tsk tsk tsk… This is a rather interesting and awesome addition to things though. Especially since everyone in there is not a PlayStation exclusive even though it is stacked that way a bit. I will say that some of their choices for actors is a little odd or at least make the characters look odd. Kratos for one just looks wrong even though he looks to be the most CG'ed of the bunch. All You Ever Wanted To Know About NBA 2K12 Before Launch
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 30th of September 2011 - 04:26 PM ]
Earlier this week, (9/28/11) in a small, dark room I was invited to a Q/A session with a couple of the people behind NBA 2K12. Those people being Erick Boenisch, producer of NBA 2K12, and Mike Wang, senior game play designer. The small, dark room being my office since this was over a conference call. None the less though it was a fun filled experience that will give all of you sports fans out there a bit more about the game. There is really too much to go into here without having a multipage article here so I will allow most of the answers come from the below recording. Read More...

Shank 2 Announced
by Matt Waitt [ Thursday, 29th of September 2011 - 06:18 PM ]
EA has announced that they are working with Klei Entertainment on a sequel to Shank, simply titled "Shank 2" at this point. After killing the criminals who betrayed him, former mob hit man Shank must protect his loved ones from the mob he once worked for. So far no release date has been given, but we can surely expect this one to come out sometime in 2012. I never played the first Shank but I have heard nothing but good things, plus the game looked pretty awesome. Well here are some screen shots and an announcement trailer, enjoy. Read More...

Dead Island The Movie... Do We Need It?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 27th of September 2011 - 06:44 PM ]
Do we need yet another zombie film? Or even better, another zombie film based on a video game? I mean are the Resident Evil films not enough for us? If you answered along the lines of "Yes, give me another zombie film based on a video game." then I have some good news for you. Lionsgate has just announced that they have optioned the film rights to Dead Island the movie. Yea… I think… I am being a little hasty here though. It looks like the reason has been optioned is all based around the concept of the first trailer we were given back in February of this year. Read More...

World Of Warcraft 4.3 Dungeons Part 1
by Matt Waitt [ Thursday, 22nd of September 2011 - 06:42 PM ]
So being a regular player of World Of Warcraft, I thought it would be good to give you guys some info on the new dungeons and raids coming in patch 4.3: Dragon Soul. Now I do have mixed feelings for WoW but the lore is what keeps me coming back for more, the stories told in Warcraft are vast, grand and epic rivaling and even surpassing the stories that started the fantasy genre. Without further adieu here are some goodies for you guys. The Great Dragon Aspect; Nozdormu The Timeless has devised an unorthodox and highly dangerous strategy along with Thrall and the other Dragon Aspects to finally destroy Deathwing once and for all, and they need your help. Is Silent Hill Downpour Going To Have Child Abuse Now?
by Fred Buell [ Tuesday, 20th of September 2011 - 05:39 PM ]
Most likely not, unless the new trailer for Silent Hill: Downpour from Tokyo Game Show 2011 is sending hidden messages other mixed in with the new visuals and little bit of story. They did just use Korn here and while the music adds a bit of creep to the whole thing, it is an interesting choice given the music the band started out with. While their themes would be a bit fitting for the town of Silent Hill, I think we are still a way off from Konami adding that into the mix. I could be wrong. Read More...

Battlefield 3 Battleblogs
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 19th of September 2011 - 06:11 PM ]
So in my travels around the land of the internet I've come across some pretty cool stuff in regards to Battlefield 3. If you head on over to their website they've been giving some pretty sweet updates via their "BattleBlog" such as some co-op campaign and Multiplayer details. So instead of being lazy and having you run over to the website yourselves, which you should do anyways, I'm going to do my job. Now I did not know about this "BattleBlog" until a couple days ago, so hopefully I'm not too far behind. Multiplayer Goodies! Read More...

Serious Sam 3 Hypefest
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 14th of September 2011 - 04:05 PM ]
Well, Serious Sam 3: BFE comes out in about a month and I feel it is my duty as a gamer to spread a little hype about one of my favorite game franchises. Serious Sam 3 takes place before the first Serious Sam game, dropping you in the story right as Mental's unending legion of aliens attack Earth. Croteam, the guys behind the franchise never tried to do something they didn't think fit the "serious" formula: Run and Gun. Their slogan for the game sums up the entire Serious Sam franchise; "No Cover. All Man. Read More...

Review: Dead Island
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 13th of September 2011 - 09:44 PM ]
When a zombie outbreak happens, you feel like you are on an island even in the middle of the main land. The only difference is that instead of freezing rough waters of the ocean surrounding you, you have a sea of mindless hungry cannibals. So how would it feel if you were stacked up against both obstacles? Of course, this just has to happen in the middle of a decadent holiday trip. Dead Island from Techland and Deep Silver is here to show you just what might happen if that did occur. Read More...
